Same here. I'm glad it's not just me. The game is virtually unplayable, and it's been like this since I woke up this morning. Not good form for an entire Saturday.
I am having similar issues. Unfortunately for me, I had literally just finished upgrading to windows 10 when I noticed the lag issues, and I assumed it was related to that. I uninstalled the game, figuring that a fresh install on the new OS might fix things. I am attempting to install/patch the game with very little success. It took 15 minutes to get things installed to the point where I could run the patcher, and it's just hanging there. I hope whatever network issues they are having are resolved soon.
My launcher is connecting, but it's at sub-dialup speed. Here's my traceroute, LAN excluded:

Are hops 19-21 Cogent or Cryptic? Especially 21, since that's where everything seems to go all pear-shaped.
Choose your enemies carefully, because they will define you / Make them interesting, because in some ways they will mind you
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
the last 3 are patchservers according to ip address. and that 21 keeps timing out for me as well.
you think those numbers are bad. Mine has to go across Australia before it heads overseas, then I get the Cogent scenic route.
see same one times out.The last patch server. By the way, the last one has been doing that since they rearranged the server traffic for the xbox lines.
I just got timed out at the character screen, played for about minutes then got snr and booted.
Mines usually around 5.30 to 5.50 pm.(GMT +8)

Wow ... this needs to get fixed ... and though I know I'm not the only one - it doesn't help when it's near constant and I waste a charge of a Triumphant Recovery 4-pack in "Let's Stop a Riot" when I out-level the mish by 3 levels because of SNR-ing during the "rioters" ambush.
I can already say it's not my internet connection, as I can surf and as I type this I am SNR-ing in-game. Thought the over-pop in Millennium City was a contributor to the issue ... now I'm SNR-ing in Canada Crisis.
Trying to download the game again. usually 80+mbs per second and takes about 30-40 minutes, but this time it's like 10 kbs per second. and it didn't even download 1% in a half hour+ .
mhmm SAME issues here. Western-border of Vermont about 1/2 way up, U.S.A.. Fought for last hour or so was able to load into one Trainstopping. SNR'd a whole bunch with speckles of me "catching up" to what was truly going on from everyone else's point of view (I would attack a whole bunch of times and so on, but like watching what moves I made in fast-fowarded TIVO)... I made it perhaps 45 secs tops before an SNR would kick-in; Movement or not. Instanced or not...and then after 3 or 4 SNRs? Disconnect back to Log-in. Such sadness....
Ok so I feel a tiny bit better, as this has been plaguing me since Thursday's update. I get repeated SNR, followed by DC's, then rinse and repeat. I thought it was just me so I did a reinstall, and that took FOREVER, when it usually only takes like 30 minutes tops. Every time I open the launcher, it patches for hours. I mean slower than the old dial up days of the internet.
Game is still virtually unplayable for me. After force verify, reinstall, and everything else I can think of. No reprieve since Thursday's 'Server Maintenance'... seems like a joke to call it that, when 90% of the time, it takes 3+ days to have normal gameplay again.
Wow, so many pathetic whiners. Nobody is making you play CO. Last I checked Cryptic is actually providing a free service. (Yeah, people subscribe too, but I suspect the whiners don't.)
If you had checked on one of the other games, the problems were a result of a Denial of Service attack. Working theory from the Neverwinter Online forums is that the entities that were running the spam bots launched a 'retaliatory' strike because their bots were banned.
So, the public pool is closed down because somebody peed in it. Yelling at the lifeguard isn't going to help.

Oh look a pathetic white knighter. Hey kid some of us pay for a product and PWE does turn a profit from the money we the customers give them, we expect a certain level of playability . You would think China's biggest video game company would have decent server protection.
Perfect World ( which Cryptic is a part of ) is a very large company it doesn't need you to stick up for it.
Go back to Tumblr I hear theres a new outrage over video game boobs there.

I'm just going to quickly point out that this thread wasn't started today and so it's not about the DOS attacks. The comment directly after mine might have been, but this isn't a thread about what's going on today.
I should also point out that, although it's entirely possible that many people complaining are silver, suggesting that they have no right to complain would assume that our very limited community haven't invested any money into the game even as a silver player. When I was a silver member I pumped a couple hundred dollars into the game buying costume unlocks and character slots. This was before free form slots, vehicles, or even lockboxes BTW. I'll just remind you that even silver status gamers can be paying customers. I should say though, that before the forums were "improved" and we lost our lifetime subscriber badges, a very large portion of the regular contributes to this community were indeed life time members and thus had payed a rather large sum up front to support this game.

Well met. As a silver player who has bought quite a few things ( freeform slots, hideouts and stuff ) and continues to do so I find sannia1's post to be rather offensive.
Many silver player match what a subscriber would pay a month for this game but stay silver because its just simpler. Seriously that gold to silver toon conversion BS is a pain.

See I've always looked at things like this: people on the internet are more often misinformed then straight up wrong. And while it's true that being misinformed in today's information age is frustratingly unnecessary, it's also true that many people don't know how to look up and disseminate information. When someone says that "all silver players are leeches" or something to that effect, it completely flies in the face of the "free to play" model. If everyone who joined as a silver player didn't spend money then the "free to play" model simply wouldn't work. It would be a straight up loss for these companies. Now it's clear that sannia1didn't realize this, nor did they read the OP or check the dates of the previous posts, which is frustrating, but really not enough for me to get mad about. I'd say their intentions were good, they thought they were defending someone (in this case a company) from an unwarranted attack about a problem that was, in this case, not their fault. I don't mind the intent of the post and so it almost cancels out the ignorance in my mind.
In other news, I spotted you for the first time the other day in the game and remarked that it was the first time seeing you "in the wild". One thing that is good about these big events is that you get to see forum contributes in the game.
Cryptic decided f2p was a legit way to play their game, even for those that don't spend a dime.
Am I the only one that tends to find the way breasts are depicted in games to be creepy? F cups and freaky jiggles are kinda disturbing.
I rarely have connection problems. Outside of stuff like last night. Glad it didn't tank my whole net connection though. When Trion had their DDoS party, I couldn't play any online games.

Well more people playing means more potential customers. I'm not willing to spend $20 to put time into a game to lose all that progress when my subscription runs out, but I was willing to spend $20 to get a couple cool new costumes for my archetype toons because I won't lose those when my subscription runs out. I doubt I'm alone in that reasoning. That's why the F2P model works IMO.
And yes, the breasts are creepy, most costume options look weird when the boobs aren't maxed out. I find it really sad that the breast are maxed out by default.
I normally don't have connection problems either, but last night it took forever to long on (thanks to the DOS attack), and then I got the blue screen of death, something I can't recall ever getting that with windows 7 before. I'm not sure if the two are related or not but I can't rule out that possibility.
Love all the postings about how Cryptic should somehow be able to prevent DDoS attacks.
Dude, the Pentagon gets hit by these. You think Cryptic's supposed to have better protection available than the US military??
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
I tend to think of them in terms of my freind who has G size.
These characters are running around in the bare minimum, in some case bare minus the minimum. MY friend has to wear 2 bras for any exercise.
I just made a new character, she is wearing an oriental vest. I shrunk her bust, the vest stayed in the same place.
skull bra- strings are loose on max bust size. against the obvious, the strings are tight when you shrink your bust
Patching servers are totally jammed and probably close to dieing, in most situations the launcher doesn't even open properly for me most of the day. (Yes it worked fine before, yes it's not my connection provider or firewall when cryptic servers regularly just drop or don't respond to launcher requests etc. etc.)
For the past few hours I couldn't even get the game started because I would have to patch, patch servers are down though.
For the past days the game itself has been showing drastic problems that made bigger events impossible and disconnects during normal smaller scale gameplay too common to be acceptable.
What annoys me most of all though is not that PWE or Cryptic gets DOS attacks or has problems with their environment. It is even understandable to me to some extent that such things can take time and in some cases are beyond the publishers or developers direct control.
It doesn't even matter that I'm a long time gold player and as such a paying customer (in the end also all those players who are silver and never paid a penny keep the game alive, keep the economy going and bring PWE and Cryptic revenue just by being around) and the service that we're paying for is unavailable for days.
What is shocking even more than all of the things mentioned above is that Cryptic or PWE didn't deem it necessary to even make a single post that things are not working currently and that they are fixing them at the moment. I don't care if theres a post over at the NW forums, while it is very appreciated to our fellow player who let us know about it, I am playing CO not NW and the least that players should be able to expect if a service that they are paying for is totally unavailable is some statement of what is going on from the provider who gets paid for said service.
It's kind of odd. I can't log into CO either and pidgin has big problems, but when pidgin finally did connect there were some people online that didn't seem to have the same troubles.
It's kind of odd. I can't log into CO either and pidgin has big problems, but when pidgin finally did connect there were some people online that didn't seem to have the same troubles.
The reason for that is that account login servers and patch servers seem to be the same or on the same cluster/network, but gameservers are seperate. Basically the account login servers handle the patching and security details once that is completed they hand you over to the gameservers.
If the patchservers are totally crammed, they might still take some time to hand you over but for a normal login it should work. On the game server which should be unaffected you shouldn't have these issues.
On the other hand if you have to patch or go beyond a simple login routine you're stuck outside dealing with a patch server that cannot handle the load.
EDIT: Also over the last half hour or so, the patch servers respond again at least. Not that we have any real update, but patching seems to work again even if slow.

Are hops 19-21 Cogent or Cryptic? Especially 21, since that's where everything seems to go all pear-shaped.
They're not there in the beginning, but when your story ends / Gonna last with you longer than your friends
you think those numbers are bad.

I can already say it's not my internet connection, as I can surf and as I type this I am SNR-ing in-game. Thought the over-pop in Millennium City was a contributor to the issue ... now I'm SNR-ing in Canada Crisis.

or, are you going to slack off?
If you had checked on one of the other games, the problems were a result of a Denial of Service attack. Working theory from the Neverwinter Online forums is that the entities that were running the spam bots launched a 'retaliatory' strike because their bots were banned.
So, the public pool is closed down because somebody peed in it. Yelling at the lifeguard isn't going to help.
Perfect World ( which Cryptic is a part of ) is a very large company it doesn't need you to stick up for it.
Go back to Tumblr I hear theres a new outrage over video game boobs there.

The consensus there suggests this is retaliation for banning spam bots, but we know the truth: It's Mechanon. There is!? I better get over there right now and ogle the boo...I mean, ogle the outrage.

Many silver player match what a subscriber would pay a month for this game but stay silver because its just simpler. Seriously that gold to silver toon conversion BS is a pain.

In other news, I spotted you for the first time the other day in the game and remarked that it was the first time seeing you "in the wild". One thing that is good about these big events is that you get to see forum contributes in the game.

Dude, the Pentagon gets hit by these. You think Cryptic's supposed to have better protection available than the US military??

These characters are running around in the bare minimum, in some case bare minus the minimum. MY friend has to wear 2 bras for any exercise.
I just made a new character, she is wearing an oriental vest. I shrunk her bust, the vest stayed in the same place.
skull bra- strings are loose on max bust size. against the obvious, the strings are tight when you shrink your bust

Don't know what happened, but we've now moved to Zone 2 for the Mechanon/Mega-D event until further notice.

/edit
And now it started working all of a sudden.
Not that we have any real update, but patching seems to work again even if slow.
it's not just the, "we're full, so we don't show on the list", is it?
