Official Feedback Thread: Spinward Rise

Greetings Adventurers!
As part of this preview build we are pleased to reveal the new post-level 60 adventure zone Spinward Rise. Explore the floating islands held aloft in the sky high over Neverwinter Wood by cloud giant magic! Thwart the Cult of the Howling Hatred before they rain destruction down on the Sword Coast from their lofty stronghold! Level 66 players can venture into this level 67-69 zone to conclude their quest to reach level 70!

Access
Level 66+ characters can access the Drowned Shore by completing the Elemental Evil introductory story quest, then speaking to Archdruid Morningdawn in Protector’s Enclave and accepting the quest “Trouble on the Winds”.

Features
Quests – Players can experience level 67 to 69 quests, several of which provide new level 67+ item rewards.
Vigilance Tasks – Spinward Rise introduces “Vigilance Tasks”, hourly quests unlocked by progressing through the main story. Once Vigilance Tasks are unlocked new quests will become available at the top of every hour. Forty-five unique repeatable quests are available to Preview players.
Heroic Encounters - New series of Heroic Encounters can be found in Spinward Rise, including a level 70 battle with the Air Prophet!


Known Issues
Enemy Models – While the enemies you face in Spinward Rise will be attacking you with appropriate powers and behaviors, very few of them will have their appropriate “costumes”. At this stage on Preview you will be looking at some familiar looking foes.
Balance – The balance of some Heroic Encounters is still being tuned. Some may be more difficult or easier than intended. We’re interested in hearing your thoughts.

We are interested in your opinions of the environment, enemies, quests and really anything you find in the Spinward Rise. Of course we are also very eager to hear about any bugs or progression blockers you may encounter.

I completed the “Birds of a Feather” Vigilance Task, but did not get credit for it in the Eternal Vigilance Quest.

I wish there were more owl bears. I had trouble finding enough to defeat.

Feedback: Zone: Spinward Rise
I want to see the wind! And the enemies there are really full of hot air. At least I was able to take the wind out of their sails. What a bunch of blowhards! (note: this type of feedback is less helpful, and may make us question the validity of said feedback. And your taste in air-related puns.)

    Is not accessible from PE, you just get sent back.

    Battle of Mistral seems bugged. Waves do not spawn.

    Avia landing: twin breezes
    entered barracks, no dashar, no silvira no battle plans and quest tracker shows nothing


    had similar symptoms on another quest there but i waited a bit near door and somehow objectives showed up

    edit: seems like you have to hang around entrance(run a bit deeper in to the room and then back to door) to get the objectives, if u just start running straight away you dont get objectives, or, maybe, when you enter the instance you get placed too far ahead to get objectives

    Elemental Air Device drops even if you dont have the quest

    Kenku eggs arent removed from inventory when you complete the quest

    also Avia Landing: Elemental Assault is shortened as Avia Landing: Elemental ***...(A.s.s.) in my journal before its completed and (turn in) shortens it even more :D resolution - 1280x1024

    Windcall Temple: Lore of Chaos

    Unless there is some special way through the waterfall, I can't get into the instance that it's telling me to head into. If there is some special way, then I can't see it.

    They seem really small. Like, smaller than a halfling small. I wouldn't be surprised if this was temporary, but I thought it might be a thing to mention.

    Battle of Mistral Point

    The heroic encounter doesn't seem to spawn the enemies after you raise the two banners.

    Windbound Temple: Unbound Anger

    It seems as though you can't ever interact with the orbs if you have done so once before. Say you did the quest the last time it came on. The next time it comes up, you still can't interact with them.

    have they even played through their own missions before putting them on preview ?

    that waterfall is a solid wall ....

    Avia Landing:Lesser Wind Runes - you get more rune drops when quest is in the phase when you have to charge the runes, and the extra runes arent removed from inventory when finishing quest


    there isnt enough war chests for war chest treasure, getting 12 of them is a pita

    Intelligence reports from Eyes in the sky quest seem to have really low drop chance, maybe i was unlucky, but i farmed some 20 min for the 6, same issue with ciphered message, craptastic drop rate and you need 10, if you dont change the drop rates before launch it will be a ffn nightmare with a ton of players and only so many spawns

    Far-scryers should show the actual zone its focused at not zoom on farscryer itself

    Ciphered message isnt removed from inventory after completing quest(i had 11 instead of 10 if that affects smth)

    Thanks for the feedback, folks! These issues are being compiled and addressed, and you might even see some changes in the next build.

    Note that some bugs crop up where there weren't bugs before. For example, door access to a map may have worked perfectly well when testing, then an artist finishes up geo revisions and adds a collision pass, not realizing that they covered up a door. These things happen, and we appreciate your diligence in reporting them. Cheers!

    Bug: Heroic Encounters

    Several of the Heroic Encounters in Spinward Rise can have difficulty starting. Many times a HE begins but there are no enemies there. Even if you stand around and wait for a few minutes no enemies show up.

    the tougher slaadi(the ones with 5 sections in their health bar) still spawn octopus face(forgot the name of mob, its in dread vault) image when casting their aoe attack

    Bug: Heroic Encounter the Battle at Mistral Point

    This HE can get stuck. I killed 13 of 15 of the first wave but then there were no other enemies to kill. I just ran around the area looking for the last two enemies as time ran out. Bug possibly occurred because I died the first time attempting it? Not sure.

    Edit: to expand on this I've now attempted the HE a few more times. Half of the time after I raise the two banners no enemies spawn. The HE never gets off the ground. Other times as I'm fighting enemies and they will just disappear. I don't know what's going on. Maybe a banner is getting attacked, the HE is failing, but the HE doesn't end even though it fails? It's just an all around mess right now.

    Bug: Windcall Temple: Feeding the Slaadi
    Windcall Temple quests are supposed to be level 68 (and most are). However, Feeding the Slaadi is level 67. Both the quest and the monsters inside the instance should be bumped up one level.
    Neverwinter Tools for evaluating boons, mounts, dyes, etc.

    Bug: Battle of Mistral Point HE
    The encounter stopped and failed when there were still five minutes left.

    Bug: Heroic Encounter Elemental Assault (Northeast corner of the map in Windcall Temple)

    The boss of this HE spawns on top of a cliff a good distance away from the other enemies. It takes him a while to run all the way around the cliff to where you are so the fight can start. Seems kind of a silly spawn point.

    Bug: Cloudkill Heroic Encounter

    I went to the trouble of solo-ing this HE (and that is a fair amount of trouble). I was able to kill Pileus Stormbringer and the obelisk with 30 seconds before the timer ran out. But the HE did not end, the timer ran out, and it registered as a failure. Make sure this HE ends when it is supposed to, please.

    Edit: after reviewing the combat log I actually killed a giant named "Cirrus Skyseeker" with 30 seconds left. Then I guess Pileus Stormbringer just failed to spawn.

    Overall this is a beautiful zone. My compliments to the game designers who put this place together. Really enjoyable place to go questing.

    In this Heroic Encounter the High Skyweaver never appears.

    There are some places where you can fall through the map geometry and get stuck. (-872,2153) is one such place.

    The drop-rate on the Ciphered Messages is very low. I had to massacre a few hundred cultists in order to get 10 of them. Might want to increase that a bit.

    Feedback: Aarakocra and Kenku NPC's

    They look pretty cool, but their eyes.. they need more expression. They currently remind me of this guy..

    Feedback: Quest - Get Greater Air Scroll

    It took me awhile to figure it out but this turned out to be the most funnest quest EVER!!! Don't even need the quest to play around with it. Something like this needs to be added to a dungeon or three. :cool:

    Just ran into this problem myself.. Quite aggravating running around in circles looking for cultists to slaughter. Been spending way too much time on this already. The same with the other quest having to find secrets or something to that effect.

    Otherwise the zone itself is beautiful. I like the feel of it.

    Feedback: War Chests

    I don't know if it's just me.. but the first few were easy to find and now I'm running around in circles all over the area and can't find any more?? It's like looking for Easter eggs..

    Btw, would love to see the kenku archer companion, would go good with a giant crab mount LOL

    The drop rate for the Intelligence Reports was about 1 out of every 30-40 Cultists. I had to circle the whole map 3 times. :(
