I don't think it matters what companion you use to be honest... I didn't die once solo'ing from 1-60 using the dire wolf. Just use your dodges and skills correctly and you'll be fine. I think you restarting your toon made it easier because you were getting more used to the class not because of the companion.

No Oghier, you don't understand unless we can run in first have 3 rogues on us and a CW out heal all 4 and AoE them all down and kill them by ourselves then our class is apparently horrible in PvP......

I think Healing Word is a great encounter when you combine it with the feat that gives you divinity bonus when encounters come off cooldown.
