Great answer, this worked for me, make sure you click cancel right away when it says patching still, otherwise the game will start right as you click cancel and it will still crash. If you do it right you will get the patch button to come up after you hit cancel and after patching click play and the game will load! cheers…

For me it usually crashes at the cryptic screen but sometimes I dont even make it that far, I am currently running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, I7-3820 QM and GeForce GTX 675M

What is really odd is that they did shard maintenance earlier today but I never got any update when I logged on. That might be why its crashing but honestly if its something simple I hope they don't make us wait all day for them to fix it...

Honestly there are games I'm currently playing that are still in beta but you can at least log on to play them. This is the first I've seen a game not allow people to play ever before...
