First helpful post I've seen today. I'd say the Gods are the root cause. They saw the greedy way that some magicians were manipulating the market and cast a curse on everyone. They are going to relive their days over and over and learn the futility of seeking wealth.

You do what you have to do with high volumes, including removing all constraints. And that is assuming that they are using a system which HAS constraints, which is unlikely. I'd expect them to be using a document database or some other store which doesn't have constraints and pulling it to a relational database nightly.…
