I don't consider it a race to reach max level and end game gear, so I really don't care about the people that managed to hit 60 in a day and grab gear. I think if you are looking for a truer "D&D" experience, NW Nights is about as close as you can get. D&D as a tabletop game is designed around a smallish, specialized party. Hard to replicate that in an MMO.
