Deleting the passes in other maps seems like what is causing it. I think that I've even discarded them in different instances of river district and still been locked out. You can't even open the menu without it starting up again.

This worked for me too, thanks for the tip! And it does help to unsummon your companion when you sneak by, too. Of course, by TR has no survivability whatsoever so I have to resummon my healer right away or I'm toast. Not a perfect fix, but it works for now.

Very important to fix this issue, and maybe they could drop the opacity of the loot window when it pops up so it doesn't completely ruin game visibility.
