My friend has bound profession assets. If he combines these bound profession assets with unbound profession assets to upgrade their quality, will the product be bound or unbound?
1) Unbound
2) Bound to account
3) Bound to character
Mixing any of these will convert the higher into the lower, for example: Transmuting a bound item onto an unbound item will make the unbound item bound.
Everything moves toward being bound, nothing ever moves backward: mixing a BtA with BtC: the result will be BtC and so on. This is how Cryptic games have always worked for the last several years, including Champions Online and Star Trek Online and so on. When two items of different restrictions are merged in any way, the more restricted item takes over status of the result.
Shouldn't such assets revert to unbound once the probation period is over?
Same as anything else, bound is bound. The only mechanism I've heard of for changing that (such as when lockboxes were dropping BoP artifacts) is to contact customer service so they can delete the bound item and issue you an unbound one.
The game apparently does warn you before you buy anything or open a box that whatever you get will be account-bound because of the probationary period, so I can't see them offering that service in this case.
Same old story where new legit paying customers get screwed because of measures taken to combat goldsellers.

Just FYI
Acquired either from a lockbox or the Zen store while the account was on probation.

Thanks for this - good info! I wondered how this was possible...
