For real the server lags and sometimes you can get disconnected, the problem is that when you log in again and get sent to domination you get removed from the event and penalized with 30 mns of leaver penalty, meaning you cannot play domination un that period.
And thats not all, your whole parrty is going to have to 4 vs 5, and they will be real mad about it
The leaver penalty is in and of itself just stupidly implemented. If someone gets a leaver penalty it should only affect the portion of the game it's attached to, not the whole game in itself.
If you leave a PvP match, you should get a 30 minute penalty connected to PvP matches, not for dungeons, skirmishes and everything else.
If you leave a dungeon early and get the penalty, then it should be attached to dungeons and skirmishes. But yet again it's another example of PWE and Cryptic taking the quick and easy path for programming instead of thinking things through and doing it in a more understandable way.
And in case everybody has forgotten, this is a game. We are suppose to be playing for entertainment value, not to work.
And can someone explain to me why the hell the leaver penalty only seems to work for domination and not GG? More people quit out of bad GG matches then anything else now a days.
And it also seems that you get more leaver penalties for disconnects then you get for actually quitting the match. All in all a poor implementation of a half thought out idea.
It has to be a punishment. Not a tap on the fingers. If grieving players can simply do something else during their PvP time-out it wouldn't be much of a punishment.
Nonsense. The game can't tell the difference between a legit disconnect and people pulling the plug. Never could, and never will. And it should apply to GG as well. It did during mod5. If it's not working since rework 6 it's "just" another bug and should be reported as such.
Nonsense. The game knows when you log in and when you are not logged in. Literally WHEN as in the times. All it has to do is penalize those who were dc'd and did not log back in within 3 minutes, and not penalize those who log back in within 3 minutes.

It used to allow people, who got disconnected and tried to log back in real quick, to get back to the pvp match. Basically, the system was be able to keep people inside the pvp map until the map closed, period.
Then, sometime in between mod 5, there was a bug that people exploited to kick others from pvp maps, mostly for maintaining their positions on the leadership board. Devs fixed this in mod 6 and somehow they also removed the system capability to keep players inside a pvp match after a disconnect.
In my opinion, the system should always keep players in a pvp map, at least for 3 minutes as you said, before removing them from the match with the penalty. Or replacing them with other players is also a solution, but I doubt that would happen with the current lousy ELO system.
I have seen this happen about 50 times now too, most game breaking bug in pvp, nothing is worse than getting disconnected in a 1H+ long premade and not being able to come back on, and finish your match, it is IMO THE WORSE MOD 6 BUG BY FAR, ok some of the bugs are really bad too, but this one is game breaking because it ruins good pvp matches for everyone involved, your team, the other team and yourself ...
Can't believe this wasn't fixed within the first few days of mod 6, as it stands you removed a bug (kicking) and replaced it with an even bigger one, congratz that is some OP dev skills right there .
The leaver penalty as implemented is no longer necessary anyway and can be safely discarded.
As implemented. But it does need to be there otherwise Dom is as meaningless as gg. You could just keep leaving matches early until you found one you knew earlier that you would win.
I think if they could actually fix the disconnect issue, a good alternative to the leaver penalty would be a glory buy-in to pvp. You would be required to "pay" glory that would be refunded in addition to whatever glory you received from the match. I feel that would stop alot of ppl from just leaving and looking for easy wins.
Yeah the issue needs to be fixed so u dont get booted out on a dc. I was just about to do a pvp and the game crash on loadingscreen till DOM. i log back in and got 30 min penalty.
Yeah the issue needs to be fixed so u dont get booted out on a dc.
This is worst:
You disconnect for 10 seconds 45 minutes into a good close premade vs premade match where your team has slight lead... Relog/kicked. Good game. Penalized, let your mates down, lose match.
As implemented. But it does need to be there otherwise Dom is as meaningless as gg. You could just keep leaving matches early until you found one you knew earlier that you would win.
I don't agree, because Domination is already as meaningless as GG. You needed a leaver penalty if the game would actually offer competitive matches on a wide basis. The few matches that are indeed competitive don't need punishment, because everybody involved has the honest intention to finish (pre vs pre), and nearly all other matches aren't. The leaderboard is dead.
It would be an improvement. PVP is a waste most of the time, I don't see why you need to punish people to stay in a match. The number of matches that you currently would love to drop because they are <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> is vastly superior to the number of matches that would be <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> because people have the ability to drop out.

How can there be such a huge difference in experience of this? When people lose more than they win it is due to not optimizing what you are doing. I would love to say its just bad matchmaking always but it just is not. I pretty well rxained what optimization is. The information is out there and it is understandable if a person does not find optimization fun but it is just too easy an excuse to blame everything on matchmaking.
When people lose more than they win it is due to not optimizing what you are doing.
That's most certainly wrong. At some point you need to premade to win more games than lose, because of the way the matchmaking works. That's really easy to understand.
If you say well to premade should be your adjustment then, all right. But that doesn't make the system better, you're just shifting to the bright side of it.

Running in a premade is part of an optimized playing style. It is a team game. If you run solo you are not playing a team game in the most effective (optimal) way.
I am not shifting to the bright side I am just pointing out that if people don't do what works they won't win. All of the many flaws are very well known and complained about thoroughly every day. I think it is more constructive to focus on what works in a faulty system rather than join the league of qq and chicken littles.

Thanks for adding to my point.
Matchmaking works for the minority of people that play the game in a specific way, but decent matchmaking should work for the majority regardless of how they play the game. Hence it's <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> and the leaver penalty as sidekick can be discarded.
Another way of handling the situation would be to change the algorithm to a very tight ELO that does not match up anybody if no equal players are in the queue.

Doing something in an optimized way is always the best way to accomplish what you are trying to accomplish. It is a team game. Why should not playing as a team or for the team be rewarded??
It is like saying people who wear steel toe boots and arctic parkas for the swimming race should have a fair chance to win because they enjoy swimming in steel toe boots and parkas. "Matchmaking at the swimming race only works for the people who swim in swimming suits and not parkas and boots". Huhh?

Your reasoning is still off. It's not about a fair chance in steel toe boots and parkas against swimming suits, it's that matchmaking fails to put up swim suits vs. swim suits and parkas against parkas. Hence it's <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> and the leaver penalty as sidekick can be discarded.

your analogy is so ridiculous that i think you purposefully tried to be obtuse. if you were actually trying to make sense then i apologize. i try never to make fun of people with special skills and needs.
this isn't a swim match, its a video game. and if i wanted to get paired up against a premade of BiS then i would play my toon thats BiS. if i want to play against mid geared people, i will play my mid tier guy. we don't have the primary school swim team compete against the olympic team do we. ooops. i think i had some brain cells die. i slipped into your analogy.
Personal insults indicate the lack of a strong point.

A good matchmaking system would have bracketed ques based on gear and team/solo quo. This is not a good matchmaking system because it requires a far larger pool of players to work well.
But we already know that.
We've known that matchmaking sucks for many mods. The only productive thing we can do is optimize the variables that we as players have control over. Like quing as a group rather than quing solo.
But people just want to complain instead of doing something productive. There is a point where as a player you have to decide if the game sucks so bad you should just stop playing and having a ****ty time. I was there. And the thought process involved in deciding to stay has made me a better player by far.
Take the advice or leave it. Doing what needs done to win will get you more wins than not doing what needs done. That is the bottom line and it is so simple. That is what optimization is about.
When I lose more than I win on my relatively poorly geared character I'll agree matchmaking is totally broke. Until then when my character dies or loses a match I will carefully analyze what I can do better instead of blaming the game or other players. Its worked like a charm so far.
not an insult. i figured you must be kidding. there is no way you are that obtuse. the analogy you provided made absolutely no sense, so it was the only reason i could think of.
and if you are special needs, i'm sorry.
It seems equally obtuse to me that someone does things in a way that will make them not win and then blame something else for the loss.
That is where we are at and I see no way for us to agree.
What you guys should be saying is simply that doing what it takes to win is not fun for you. Then it comes down to find a fun way to win or quit. But please stop complaining. Seriously. Want to throw a fit after you lose some matches, fine. But qq as ones go to attitude towards the game is just depressing and absolutely counter productive.

Or maybe introduce a way for the group to Vote "Surrender" and instantly finish the game if 80+% of the vote passed. (4/5 players)
The problem is, a good number of DOM games actually finished within the first 2~3 minutes, once one team realized another team has terribly outgeared them, it becomes a massacre and not a contest, and then its 5~10 minutes boring wait time for both teams sitting there doing nothing....
