Right now, it does not make sense to progress on live with Jewelcrafting on toons, because it's throwing away AD. I don't mind as much that another piece of equipment only lasted for one Mod, but over night I ran out of things to do on the live server in this particular area, which indicates that the job done on progression is terrible.
What you want to do is include the old dual gem rings as crafting resource next to the new Gemmed Exquisite Adamant jewelry and lower overall crafting costs for the jewelry to compensate for the change.
You can craft to the first stage and then hold them ( don't personalise the rings ) as it is apparently the same gemmed ring etc that crafts to level 25 .
My issue is that with all the rings etc that I have personalised over 5 or so toons , it is the amount of dragon eggs that I had to use .
If we don't get an upgrade path to the new BiS rings etc OR a more than generous salvage return then it's a kick in the teeth for the people ( like me ) that spent a fair bit getting these items and now having to very likely spend the same amount AGAIN in order to have the best .
I don't mind things being superceded ( it's the name of the game ) , but when they announced level 25 crafting professions not a lot of time had gone by where people had only just got to level 20 and spent a lot of resources in getting these items .
So we definetely need some compensation ( ie great salvage costs ) or an upgrade path with minimal costs to complete these items .

I think this is a bug, because there are new rare recipes for Gemmed Exquisite Adamant/Aberrant jewelry that probably should be the resource for the new Personalized Adamant jewelry. If you could just use the old Gemmed jewelry, the new rare recipes wouldn't serve a purpose.
So it's going to be Gemmed 60 -> Personalized 60 and Gemmed Exquisite Adamant/Aberrant 70 -> Personalized Exquisite Adamant/Aberrant 70.
Which would mean making current Gemmed stuff on live is throwing away AD and Dragon Eggs. Making the old dual jewelry a resource for the new Personalized jewelry while lowering cost of the process is an easy fix. And your current investment in lvl 60 Personalized wouldn't be wasted as well.
No , I just rechecked and for the level 25 rings they STILL use the gemmed archmage +6 rings etc ( ie 200 power / 200 Ap ) in order to get the new 394/394 rather than current 252/252
but if you look at what is required to craft the level 25 item it is using the gemmed versions as you would for crafting level 20 versions .
Maybe they may change it at a later date , but at the moment it IS using the +6 gemmed versions .
Check the NON rare level 25 crafting tasks at the bottom of the crafting recipes .
Maybe the rare versions ( hourly changing type ) are slightly better
Yeah that's what I'm saying. They simply haven't updated the resources yet, you'll need the new Gemmed Exquisite Aberrant/Adamant stuff, which btw. also uses the new unified element thingies.
Ok looking from Iambecks picture the 394/394 value is what you get when you personalize them , with 2 slots as per current .
I can't attach a screenshot , so if someone can go down to the level 25 crafting recipes and then screenie them you will see that the level 25 recipes USE the same gemmed rings / necklaces etc that we use to craft the current level 20 rings etc .
As mentioned before the 200/200 power / AP will now give 394/394 at level 25 rather than the current 252/252 level 20 personalized items .
I understand where you are coming from regarding the new rare recipes for the new items , but with the level 25 crafting recipes showing they either lazily copied data from the old recipes and just haven't bothered correcting it .
We shall see in good time hopefully

It's the same with the new craftable weapons at lvl 25 weaponsmith which still crafts that drop in VT.
Anyway, that jewelcraft would use new materials for better ring at lvl 25 is not surprising at all, I wouldn't say it's a fail.
I understand that people say it's a bug , but every item for level 25 crafting shows as using the same gemmed items for level 20 crafting .
To me that's not a bug but very poor data programming by cryptic .
They obviously copied the level 20 crafting recipes , upgraded them to a level 25 ( with different names / icons etc ) but NEVER changed the data showing that they USE the same gemmed rings / neckalces etc .
SO NOT A BUG , but very shoddy programming ......imo
Well no matter how you word it... lazy, bug, whatever, it doesn't seem to be intended. That's why jewelcrafting progress has officially stopped for my toons on live and I would advise anybody to do the same.
MC/VT crafting mats for the new 70 weapons might actually be another placeholder, yes.
Why are you all so sure it is a bug? This does have its advantages. The Level 20 Gemmed rings/items are already available and so can be bought and will take less time and AD (they have dropped in price) to get the Level 25 Personalized JC items.
No way, level cap increases should level the playing field making all previous gear worthless. Having the current personalized rings be good for anything but salvage would be an insulting mistake.

I somewhat agree, but saying it should all be worthless might be a little far. At level 70, sure. While levelling it should still be useful though. i mean really there's not much use out of the rings we would have made anyway. We have tiamat where your contribution is less significant and pvp which fine it would have some effect. Upgrading the personalised would be one way to make it worth something at least while still having it inferior to level 70 stuff.
These personalized rings are much better than artifact rings (which sadly will eventually come)
That's a little presumptuous. All of the artifact equipment have some sort of bonus that you can't get in standard gear and will supposedly have higher stats than normal gear when maxed (which now seems practically impossible).

It's not black and white.
I don't mind progressing on live now doing Tiamat although knowing the Templar Armor will be useless going forward. However, investing Dragon Eggs and AD in jewelry that's obsolete? No way. So I'm forced to put certain aspects on hold, which is an insulting mistake likewise.
It's not only about making gear worthless, you also want a solid progression and the jewelry professions specifically works in a way that previous ranks are used as resources for the next best item. I don't see why that shouldn't be the case with personalized stuff. You still would need the new lvl 25 rare recipes and all, so nothing changes actually.

I understand feeling put out that your current jewelry was a waste of resources, whether you made the base rings or bought them to upgrade.
I do not at all see how continuing to level jewelcrafting is a waste of time since the newer better jewelry is still BoP. Keep levelling it up but skip the rank 20 tasks and go straight for the top tier crafting again.
I've got three characters all with personalized for both character and augment companion. They are item level 99 (Higher than your Dread Legion Armor) so why get all bent out of shape.
Any updates on this issue?
I have like 15+ gemmed archmage's rings and simply don't know whether I should try getting at least smth for them now or keep them for further Jewelmaking tasks.
Screens from the progression tree would be welcome

The current progression tree for JC on preview is almost certainly not correct , hopefully it will be fixed by tomorrow. It looks like there are new lvl 70 gemmed rings that need to be crafted to use to make the new lvl 70 personalized ones.
Thanks for the response.
Do you think there's a chance that lvl 20 gemmed stuff will be required to craft these lvl 25 gemmed (not personalized) items?

No they are not better, they actually have exactly one slot less than the Personalized jewelry.

I agree what we need is a route like this
Level 20 Personalized Item ---> Level 25 Personalized Item
