Hey everyone,

We'll be performing server maintenance tomorrow 10/30 at 7 AM PDT. Estimated downtime is 2 hours but may be extended due to unforeseen circumstances. No patch notes this week just a restart.

When is maintenance for you? (Click here to find out)

Thanks,

Dwight

Update 1 (7:05 AM PDT) Maintenance has begun.
Update 2 (8:00 AM PDT) Running final checks should be up soon.
Update 3 (8:45 AM PDT) Maintenance has completed.
Update 4 (9:14 AM PDT) Closing thread.

Okay how does it take 2 hours to do a restart????
I can NOT see how a server restart can or would take 2 hours????

Is there something happening that WE are not aware of???

Maintenance happens same time/day every week, and occasionally extra maintenance is done. So mostly you should not have to be told every week what time it is going to be done no matter where you live.. I can understand having to do it when the special maintenance intervals come up. But you still need to know how many hours behind you they are... for instance, I just add 2 hours to whatever they say.

As far as server reboot taking two hours.. that is just what he says, but- Server reboot likely means flushing transaction logs, doing consistency checks on databases, and maybe taking additional backups. It might even include OS updates or reconfigs that do not concern players. You are expecting too much if you think they should get into all of that with the players.
If he said the things that are actually going on, then it would just bring a barrage of questions that don't even need to be asked, much less answered.

I think they are clearing the arcane singularities that they "fixed in" months ago ...

No one even anymore bothers to mention broken stuff like that ...

First of all, it's not like Neverwinter runs on a single computer - there's a lot more than just rebooting. Anyone who has ever dealt with server farms and complex software will understand why it takes time to restart. There are shutdown checklists (you can't just hit start>restart.....) Then, they likely have some *stuff* to do, then there is a startup checklist. Again, you can't just double click an icon and launch the magical game server.

On the preview -- do you mean the class changes that went live on Preview weeks ago, or the new campaign content (including the Tiamat fight) that went live more than a week ago?

I'm thinking it's extra stuff for the Festival of Liars for this year.

Crush's latest updates haven't been patched in yet (TR at-wills, DC improved divinity gain rate, etc.). Hoping for a Friday update for that.

Those won't go live, I don't think, until November 18 with the launch of Rise of Tiamat--as would anything else on the preview server.
