. . . Let's not indulge in laying blame, folks.

. . . The stealing quest objectives in Sharandar was fixed prior to the Dread Ring. So, I am sure that given time, things will be done to address these similar objectives in Icewind Dale. Especially since we already see it in Icewind Dale where aiding another player triggers shared objectives (rescue miners for another), just like they did to remedy this same issue in Sharandar to begin with. The best thing to do is to make bug reports on these, and any other obviously bugged quests.

What I find kind of ironic about this whole discussion is that multiple people can take the "hanging meats" from the trees, but only one person (or more than one person grabbing at the same time) can take the troll idols.

A simple fix is to make the troll idols like the hanging meat. What the heck is so hard about making that change since it already exists for another daily???

. . . If you think that the devs fixing these griefing ways in the past is a sign of support, then I do not know what to say to you. It's obviously a bug with a small number of quests.
The problem, as I see it, is that objective stealing is a regular issue for new content. They patch it in older content but then seem not to either learn the lesson from it or check for objective stealing in new content. Its not that they made a mistake, its that the same mistake happens over and over again.
I wasted five million AD promoting the Foundry.

I am a DC. I do things the legit way. I ask that players from other classes please keep in mind that in most cases when you steal these idols from me and other DCs you are stealing from a class that already has a tough time in Icewind Dale solo. It takes us twice as long in most cases to kill big mobs like theses where for a lot of you it takes a very short time to do the same. Don't make it that much more frustrating for us clerics than it already is to begin with. Thanks!

Most here on this forum agree. The problem is that the NW "brats" could care less - it's all about greed and letting someone else do the work whenever possible for these types of MMORPG scum.

When someone steals a troll idol from me, I follow them around a little to make their gaming life hell. If they go after another idol the legit way, I steal it and say "pay back is hell, eh?"

Quest stealing has existed in the game since launch. And while I wouldn't personally know, probably also since beta. Make no mistakes, this is a mechanic that is WAI and it's a mechanic that causes a lot of players grief.

Graveyard, Sharandar, and now Icewind Dale all have a quest that other players can Quest steal from. Despite what some people may say on the forums, these 3 specific quests still to this day haven't been changed. And on all of these quests players will actively try to beat/race or whichever you want to call it to get the quest finished for themselves at the cost of another player.
