hey guys so as you can tell i like playing every class in the gamer and enjoy the game so much that i have 9 lvl 60's. One of every class as a halfing for pvp of course and then there pve counter parts for the most part. One of the reasons i have so many classes is so i don't get bored of them the play styles are so different with the classes to me. I have fully completed all the boons and campaigns for 4 of them. The problem is the grinding is so unnecessary when you have already done it on one character and have to do it on all the others.
I think that once you finish the campaigns it should be unlocked for all your characters that you create. Similar games have adopted this strategy and this will definitely reduce the "grind" involved if i wanted to create a new class. With the new module i am just dreadin doing this all over again on all my characters. Especially since this module sounds rather large as compared to the 2 previous modules. for instance i unlocked malabog's castle on 7 characters and valindra's on 3 characters that is just unnecessary. I wouldn't mind if instead paying 50k for one i could pay 75k and unlock them on all my characters.
Do you guys fell the same way? or does neverwinter just seem really unfriendly to people that want to play more classes and characters.
This game is actually pretty light on grinding for things like boons/leveling compared to other games in general, so I don't mind it as much. Boons not so much, but it makes up for it with how ridiculously fast you can level and the fact that they provide very significant buffs for just a short play time per day. It is just more spread out over time than having the ability to go all out for a day and make more significant progress rather than a set amount of grinding that makes it problematic sometimes. I do agree with you though as I have multiple characters that I'm trying to grind boons on at the same time and it is a bit of a time crunch + boring.
I do think its unrealistic to make everything automatically unlocked for alts, but perhaps they will take things like this into consideration as more content keeps being added. If you head over to the preview shard patch notes, there is a section that mentions once you gain xp on a character past lv 60, one of the rewards you could turn that xp into is xp for an alt. So it does look like they are open to making the game a bit more alt friendly based on that.
Class Artifacts
New class-themed artifacts are available to both reward and support alts! Anyone with at least two characters that qualify for Icewind Dale will unlock a new quest. The reward for that quest is an artifact unique to the class being played… and that artifact is immediately available to all other characters on the account.
Obtain them through a new daily quest, Vault of the Nine. Qualify by having at least two level 60 characters talk to Jarlaxle in Caer-Konig, the main town in Icewind Dale.
Completing Vault of the Nine gives the player a chance for and artifact specific to their class, and unlocks that Artifact for all other characters on the account, regardless of class and level. Just check the Reward Claims Agent in Protector's Enclave!
Note that the introduction to this quest is not yet available on Neverwinter Preview. The Artifacts can still be previewed in the Artifacts category of the Collections window.

Yeah saw that about the artifacts very excitted about that.. I agree things like gauntlets shouldn't be unlocked because I fell you should work for that.. But just the dailies for sharandar and dread ring only for the boons is just repetitive and mind numbing.. I feel that should be unlocked on all characters once the character turns 60. I definitely don't mind the leveling process from 1 to 60 I can do it extremely fast like 3 days. I feel like I'm committing genocide to those poor little powerie. And genocide is bad
That is interesting indeed. I hadn't read that article yet. Now let's pray that gaining the artifact doesn't mean gaining the RNG's favor. It has a grudge against me.
Don't get me started on the RNG subject lost a many friend to that devilish beast.
I didn't really think the game is unfriendly to alts, i"m playing my third character now using foundry content and PVP....I'm not trudging through the same ol same ol and I'm having fun.

Wasn't one of the post-60 rewards XP scrolls you can send your alts, too?

Don't feel bad. Those powries would commit genocide against you and everyone who looks like you. Plus they drain your AP - that's two reasons why they deserve to die.

Post-60 Advancement
Players who have reached Level 60 will now be able to apply their accumulated experience toward new rewards! When players hit the level cap, the experience bar will now turn blue with a special icon for the "next level" end of the bar.
Each time the experience bar is filled, the player is presented with a new reward. The rewards include:
Power Points!
Just like the points gained while leveling, these points can be spent on purchasing or ranking up powers up to the maximum rank of 3.
Power Points will no longer be rewarded when the player gains enough to rank every power up to 3.
Tomes of Experience and Tomes of Companion Experience!
These tomes are bound to your account, so if you have another character or a new companion you want to get up and running quickly, just send these tomes over through in-game mail, or save them up for later.
Rough Astral Diamonds!

Huge massive problem with this. Now you are saying I have to play all 9 pf my characters to get all the "power points." That is just ridiculous.. Same thing was implemented in diablo with paragon power and guess what people rage enough they unlocked it across all characters on your account..

No. What it means is, by continuing to play your character, you can get power points so you can eventually rank all their powers up to rank 3, if you wanted. Seeing as you likely only use a few powers out of all the ones available, and that those are probably rank 3 already, this isn't really a huge bonus.

Anyway, if you invoke and do leadership on those alts, they're still going to fill their XP buckets eventually, just like reaching 60 in the first place.
Running campaigns across multiple characters is considerably more taxing than getting them XP. XP gain can be completely passive.

that is true i forgot about professions. But the extra powers to use is a huge bonus because for a lot of builds a pvp build uses completely different feats and powers than a pvp build. This would decrease that sacrifice. But the dailies still need to be shared across characters there is really no good reason not to.
the reason you need to learn how to play your class is bad because 1 dailies are most likely solo'd which doesn't show the player anything. Even if they party for things the content is so easy it doesn't matter and also doesn't teach them anything. People learn to play their class when they start gearing them for dungeons and honestly i have learned how to play all the classes just by leveling from 1-60 just common sense to me.

I agree that it's best to learn to play a class by levelling it.
I am somewhat confused by the complaint though of "I'll have to play them all" in order to access all powers, because if a character is not played actively in the first place, the power selection they have available at 60 is probably adequate, and they'll catch up eventually anyway.
I do find managing multiple alts can be onerous, but certainly not insofar as the idea of them having a passively gained type of post-60 advancement goes, just the boons (and daily quests from getting boons generate gobs of XP too).

you think that is it... Read the preview server the new gear T3 gear only stays for an in game amount of time. Meaning you have to farm black ice to keep it in its T3 state thus making to impossible to keep up on alts. So now i am being forced to play one class just to maintain my black ice gear because it has been stated that is does take quite some times to accumulate what you need thus creating a never ending grind to keep your gear up.
i can live without the powers but that again still ads to the alt unfriendly list. I only have so much time to play a day. Working 7 days a week i can't play pvp because of the que times are to long and i can't really do anything else because the dailies are so time consuming and mind numbing.. definitely wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so boring.

I also read a dev post that said that the empowerment on gear will only tick down while the character in question is in combat, which to my thinking means that keeping it up for the duration that you are actually playing a character is not going to be so bad. It remains to be seen how it actually plays out, but it doesn't sound like you're going to be stuck farming more black ice every day before you can do anything else.

"in combat" do one dungeon when are you never in combat especially for a CN that is 40 min of straight combat. Then you have to do dread dailys and others dailys and still that is considerable amount of time involved in combat on your characters so i doubt that is even a reasonable fix.. i never heard a game forcing people to do something to get and keep the best gear in game. Horrible horrible idea
My request for "alt friendly" is a little different. I don't agree that boons should just be automatically granted across all characters, rather these are things I'd like to see:
Seals tradeable across account: by the time I have enough of them, i'm already over the level of them being usefull. If I could give them to a new character, they'd actually have a function for me. in addition, or as an alternative, offer a 10:1 trade-up of seals. Same with the bounty currency. running dungeons you still gather loads of these, but who is going to get the lower grade seals or a rare item from that zone? Unlike seals, though, these can be traded across accounts, so this is currently the sole method of getting seals for another character, is that the intended method? send all of these to an alt so they can buy seals?
Tarmalune Bars account bound: it really stinks when I accidentally open a lockbox on a character that I haven't devoted as the "lock box opener" and thus cannot get that cool thing I want from the trade bar vendor.
The bank being account wide: I don't care if it starts small, I'll upgrade it with zen if I have to, but i don't like having to mail things to myself just to get simple stuff like enchants i don't need. Many other games offer some kind of account storage - it'd really help with farming on one character for your others.
Companions able to be un-bound - either offer a higher priced account bound version or charge AD to change from character-bound to account bound: I'm cool with them making money off of companions, but when you pay zen for something, I'd expect that $20 has better value than, "you're stuck with wasting all that zen if you want to switch characters.
in addition to these, the Gateway could use the ability to view companions, equip/unequip gear (both on self and companion, ID gear (especially since you aquire gear via SCA and professions, and attach/grab gear from mail (i'm fine if you still lock out AH stuff, as I can see that that's why you currently limit it).

Agree with you guys, that certain things should give some bonus for you account or your alts, esp. when you spent the zen to unlock more character slots, there should be a better bonus than just that character slot. But you have to be aware that, for example the campaigns are diamond sinks, you have to spend those diamonds to unlock the boons, and thats part of the "economy". cryptic most probably won't allow for that item/AD sink to go away.

Already accounted for this in my earlier post. Charge a little but more but unlock them on all accounts.. Right now I have VT only unlocked on 3 accounts for the very reason it's to expensive to do more.. There becomes a point where the ad sink isn't worth it. Not if you said it would be 100k but all characters would get it I would be happier it's still and effective ad sink.. Same goes for daily's instead of 2k you can spend 5k and unlocked them across all characters
This in turn could leads players to play more characters and overall become a better ad sink.
Lucid you are partially right, but i think it's still more effective the way it is, otherwise cryptic wouldn't use it. I think most people don't have that much characters at all or they don't play as effective as you do. I, for example have 3 60's. But doing (both campaign) dailies takes about an hour - the boons cost AD, even tho the quests don't give me any. So to earn the AD i need to do the campaign boons I'd need to do the PvP/Dung/GG dailies which take about 6 hrs considering the event bonus scedule. How am i supposed to do this with 3 characters on one day? Yes ofc there are other ways to gain AD. But thats another argument FOR the current system where you have to pay MORE AD the more characters you have. Actually, the current system probably favours most of the players, as they dont have enough alts so that the cost of, say 100k for a boon or the unlock of MC/VT would be effective.
Not taking a side here, agree that alt friendlyness is desirable. Just some arguments that might be important
