It being upgraded or not should have no effect on it. The problem is that they didn't have a script that ran when you first logged in after this patch like they did with module 2 that did a check for collection items. Moving it between idle and active inventory should force a check against collections for the companion (and the same goes for Lillend which was also added to the collections today).
Also he is not in the list of collected compagnions for Sword Coast Adventures, but if i start a group i can select him.
Here you can see, i have him but he doesnt count for the collection. Am I the only one with this problem?
edit: Maybe because I got the collection of this sub-category full bevore the Warrior was added and now the game doesnt check it because it thinks i got all compagnions of ?behind the grave?

The same thing is happening to me and a friend. I have a bound rank 3 one and I tried moving it from active to idle and it did nothing.
My friend and I then decided to see if mailing his unbound one back and forth would work and it didn't work for either of us.
Definitely bugged

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. What you are experiencing is not the intended behavior. We expect that if a companion is added to the collections after it has gone live, players would receive credit for the previously bound companion. We will look into this issue.
