No matter how many characters I make, by the time I accumulate enough Seals of the Lion to buy anything, I already have better green stuff. Green! That makes the blue items in the Seals of the Lion line worthless.

We need a way to two-fer these seals into higher ones or buff the items that are blue (my greens are better!).

I mean, come on. :p As it is now, accumulating seals is totally worthless.

+Buff the items to be better than greens by the time someone actually accumulates enough to buy
+Or, provide a way to transmute Seals of the Lion into the next Seal up
+Or, provide a way to trade Seals for AD
+Or, make Seals trade-able so we can at least sell the worthless things

By the time I can afford - through normal progression - enough seals to buy any of the items, I am already in my 30s. The Seal of the Lion items are high teens, 20s, and a couple of very low 30s. For example, my GREEN level 22 (yes, you read that right, 22 and GREEN!) shield is comparable to the uber useless BLUE level 32 Seal of the Lion shield. That is just plain wrong.

I would much rather have the ability to convert seals to the next tier of seals up.

I have a bunch of seals that will never see any use ever again. (and some never saw use at all. Which is almost all lion seals )

    Its such a waste.

If it can't buy you purple gear to salvage then it's a useless seal, that's just my take on it.

Drake seals get you a pet to keep or sell, that's semi-useful.

Now lets be fair here, some Seals are good for something like entertaining me at Sea World!

Seriously though, your gonna find this out with every Seal in the game.
Well maybe the Drake Seal has some use as pointed out earlier.

The seals should be Upgradeable, and the gear should be, at least, like the Dark Forest Equipment, that is, reasonable stats that scale with your toon ... Not Free scaling like the new Mulhorand stuff, but 10+ level jumps would be OK ...

Any and all gear from Seal vendors though, should also have a totally and completely unique mesh/skin from any other item, so then at least they would have transmute value, even if you didn't like the stats (and that's the only thing I use them for now)

Maybe even put up a display rack, similar to the one currently set up for the Winter Festival, so people can actually see what the items are and whether or not they are worth while (as transmutes) Rather than just getting rid of them altogether make them special (like they should be)

A perfect example is the Unicorn Bow, not all that impressive stat wise, but the name intrigued me, and you'd think that a Unicorn Bow would have ... well ... Unicorns on it, and how cool would that be??? ... Nope it's the same mesh with the same Lion-ish/Face-ish looking heads as several other bows ... What a wasted opportunity ...

OT: Just as a slight tangent, the Bounty Rewards from each map aren't BoP, and their are thousands of them for sale on the AH ... One option for getting a few extra Seals is buying the Bounty Tokens from the AH, then handing them in for Seals on the relevant map ...
Is it finally a T5/U/T6 KDF Science Ship?

I like the upgrading to the next seal idea. 4 lions make a manticore, 3 manticores a pegasus, 2 pegasus a Unicorn.

I'd also wouldnt mind seeing the ability to use your seals to get gear thats not for your class. When you visit the regular vendors you can see all weapons/armor. You should be able to do so with seals too. Because quite honestly sitting with close to 100 seals that you cant use is a waste. What if I would like to gear up my companions? My TR gear isnt all that great for companions. Im being told by this game, sorry, you cant used what you've earned.

While I sgree that for the most part the seal system is nearly useless: I have been able to grab a couple of "Interim Upgrades" from the vendors (typically the Weapons).
But these will only be useful for a level or two at best.
But as others have said: Typically by the time one has enough seals to purchase the level appropriate gear; the GREENS one acquires are better.
Buying the bags is pretty much a waste of time.
For the most part all I do is buy the items and vend them for silver.
    * I also find the stats on the rings/necks/belts in particular are a waste of time: Single "Big stat" items are silly IMO.
The items should be dual stat imo: With focus on the stats being combinations (with level appropriate numbers); Gem slots should ALWAYS be included.
Make Marks worth something other than simply ingame currency please.

What you get in the game normally is much better then anything you can get on the Seal merchant (talking Lion) not a single one has anywhere to put gems etc.. and their stats stink for classes like the HR... Please redo those so that Lion seals have some use other then being paper weights.

    Thanks

All the item progression system in this game is totally screwed up.

Dont expect any kind of change EVER.

They are there as a consolation prize. If you run dungeons and get nothing because bad luck on rolls or nothing for your class drops you can still get seals and get a decent blue to help you through to the next zone. I really dont have a problem with the current level of items or their role in game play. I would however like to see a pet or unique weapon/ armor skin for each seal type. Something that says hey you have run this dungeon a hundred times, have something shiny. Like the warerat companion from the drake seal merchant. I would like to see more rewards like that that give us long term players more goals to shoot for.

    This, totally this.

I would also like to see stuff on the opposite end of the spectrum price wise. Consumables that only cost a few seals.

I think both what Mantara and Dardove mentioned would go a long way in making some of the existing content less ignored. I think lowering the prices like they did a while back was a great first step.

Potion of the manticor, Elixer of the unicorn.... I Think that would be great! and since seal stuff is BoP it would just be a really nice gratis to players that stick with the game long term. This is a viable compromise to making seals account bound.

^ This. Not meant to be aimed for, and if you got everything you needed, just move on!

However, I'd also love something to aim for with them. Even just one good thing.

I was wondering, as my latest character now has about 100 seal of the lion, which I don't want to use on what they can buy, whether you could maybe put in a merchant to say swap 4 or 5 seals of lion for the next one up?

That would be nice at least it would be something.

I would also like to see perhaps some costumes and dyes and other fun things to buy with them.

A few simple solutions to make seal more useful:

    1. Add some sort of related dye kit to each seal vendor.
    2. Make all seal weapon and armor skins free to transmute.
    3. (Taken from another poster) Add useful consumables.
    4. Add some reagents or refining stones to what they have to offer.
    5. Expand the list of what they offer to coincide with each module that is added.
    6. All all classes to select from the other classes' specific rings, belts, or necklaces (in other words get rid of class restrictions on these pieces).
    7. (Again from another poster) Add a companion to each seal vendor - even if they are of lower quality to coincide with the lower tier of seal.
    8. Add fashion items to each seal vendor.

The easiest way to make seals valuable is put better equipment in seal vendors and lower the costs for lower level vendors like seals of the lion, etc.

That's it really Add in new weapons that are awesome and seals will be valuable again. The only reason seals suck is because the rewards for the time commitment were not thought out right. You level too fast for the time sink seals take for seals to be of much value. The best thing to do would be to revamp the gear in a patch so seals become worth sinking your time into. Like having purples with lower level requirements would make seal items valuable and since seal items are soul bound, who cares about twinking no level req gear for soulbound stuff?

The comments about adding things people need to seal vendors would also be a good idea, it would ensure people that don't have lots of time to mine instances can actually acquire things they need to upgrade artifacts/enchantments.

Make them account bound instead of character bound this way a new character you start can get better gear and it would make the seals useful.

Seriously just make it so we can move a percentage of our earlier seals up to the next tier or trade them for RAD. All you use seals for in end-game is the drake for epic gear to salvage.

I've read a few posts saying that you can use them to buy gear for your alts, is that not true?

I ended up using Lion and manticore? (the second level) seals to buy a few upgrades on my main (the gear was slightly better than what I had) that lasted for a few levels. I'd like something to do with them now, but I don't think it's that important.

At least make them usable on something that remains useful (some new green companions, exclusive enchantments and so on)... you can't really get anything useful right now, you will outlevel the equipment way too quickly...
