Opus Dei is a different RP-PvP-PvE guild founded by a few real life friends who are experienced MMO veterans (from a variety of games such as WoW, Lineage, Age of Conan, Guild Wars, Eve) and old D&D/AD&D fans (from the 90s pen and paper glorious era).
We started as a small Greek guild of close friends and soon became a European-only guild, then turned international with players from US, EU, and even Asian and Oceanic timezones. After a long time in the game (since the last day of the beta) and a lot of hard work and dedication, we have what we believe to be the most legit guild and one of the best in terms of quality of members.
We are different in that we recruit people not characters and treat everyone as a person and not a number! We are a fairly democratic guild with divided authority and always seeking charismatic and devoted officers (whether experienced or not). We are also different in that we say no to cheating and we mean it (no trash mob/boss skips, no short-cuts that 'utilize' the environment, no mass throwing of mobs off ledges where you are not supposed to, no early 2x AS from 2 DCs resulting in 'legit imba kills' etc).
Opus Dei focus on recruiting mature players of older ages (at least 25 years old, 30+ preferably) who can speak English and have at least one level 60 character with good gear and aim to 'farm' all current and future end-game content. We prefer older players for obvious reasons. Opus Dei used to be a medium sized guild (50-60 active players) with mostly semi-casual players and a few hardcore but has become a smaller guild over time as people beat the content and lose interest in the game. We are now recruiting once more for Module 3 expansion aiming to bolster our ranks. As always, we do not recruit very casual players (15 hours per week playtime is required) and our principle is quality > quantity.
We have a large Guild Bank with 6 repositories, RaidCall and one of the best guild websites in Neverwinter, according to feedback from members, allies and the public.
Opus Dei is also the proud Founder of the Legit Guilds Alliance, the first official organized PvE/PvP alliance between more than 2 guilds in Neverwinter (current members are: The Older Gamers, The Old Timers Guild=co-founder, Opus Dei, Mythweavers).
Concept and Storyline
Opus Dei is an ancient semi-secret order recently resurrected that aims to protect and enforce the will of all non-evil gods and deities in Faerun (and even beyond). Opus Dei accepts everyone in their ranks as Initiates, especially peasants and simple folk. Talented and exceptional Initiates progress through the ranks as their superiors see fit. Occasionally the order will work for a third party or individual, thus becoming a sort of a mercenary contractor.
When Gauntlgrym was discovered Opus Dei pledged allegiance to the Delzoun Dwarves and actively seeked alliances of like minded Delzoun Guilds to battle the evil of the accursed Luskan dogs and beyond.
The guild is also very active in the recent Sharandar Campaign, helping the Elves to battle Malabog's evil. Opus Dei were also amongst the first to rush to the aid of the armies of Neverwinter in what has become known as the Dread Ring Campaign.
The following is a summary-checklist explaining what kind of people could possibly fit into our guild, in order to save everyone's time.
Checklist
Who we don't want:
Exploiters, abusers, dupers and cheaters of any kind.
Very casual or trial players who don't stay long in the game.
PvP-only, PvE-only and RP-only (always On Character) players.
Non-english speakers (you have to be able to speak and understand English).
People who are loot wh0res and interested only on personal gain.
People who are not team players and can't function well in a group.
People who join multiple guilds with multiple characters/accounts.
Drama queens, whiners and troublemakers.
Players with unrealistic expectations from this game and/or guilds (e.g. daily 'raiding', 30+ ppl online when you play, always on raidcall etc).
People who login only for prayers/professions/trading. If you don't actually play the game you don't really need a guild.
Who we do want:
Players who can speak English at least on a basic level (both written and oral) in order to understand and being understood.
D&D/AD&D (also spellfire, magic) pen and paper fans and RPG fans in general.
Active players, preferably playing on a daily basis, at least 15+ hours per week.
Good class build with clear understanding of your class role and good gear (lvl 60, min GS 12K, good set/enchantments/boons for your class role advised). End-game experience (T1/2, GG, CN, MC, VT) and previous MMO experience is a plus, but not required.
Experienced and dedicated Foundry authors (even without previous MMO experience).
People who want to experience all PvE, PvP, and RP content.
Laid back -but not lazy- players who enjoy immersion in a quality MMORPG and play for fun.
Social and mature people with good character.
Players who have all campaign boons (Sharandar, DR, IWD) or actively working to get those ASAP.
NB: this list is not by any means complete or detailed and does not guarantee guild admission, should you feel you fit with all the above points. Each person is treated with respect on a 'face-to-face' basis and evaluated as objectively as possible, so you should be prepared to answer a few more questions in-game (or via forum PM) if you apply to join us.
Notice: there seems to be a technical problem with our website not loading and instead getting an error page. I submitted a ticket to GuildPortal and hope they fix it soon.
In the meantime any interested people should contact an officer or me in game.
Thank you for your interest in Opus Dei.
As Opus Dei we would like to see new players among us that are interested in legit gaming experience and having new friends. Unlike many other guilds claim or try to morph into, Opus Dei is non-exploitting and legit since the day one.

As Opus Dei we would like to see new players among us that are interested in legit gaming experience and having new friends. Unlike many other guilds claim or try to morph into, Opus Dei is non-exploitting and legit since the day one.
As part of Future we can verify that they are part of the Legit Community.
As a reminder, we are not interested in players who are in many guilds. Opus Dei is a serious guild developed and maintained with hard work and requires some sort of commitment, the same commitment and devotion we give our members.
Please do not apply if you have the habbit of guild hopping with multiple characters/accounts.
We have reviewed our requirements and decided to loosen up the minimum activity limit from 20 hours/week to only 15 hours/week, which means about 2 hours/day. We also did a few corrections and clarifications on our guild rules.
We understand people aged 25+ we typically aim for have work, families and real life that don't leave too much time for online gaming, but we also want this to be one of the most active guilds in the game, thus trying to balance things out.
Experienced Foundry authors are always welcome, even if more casual than our requirements
I would like to welcome all new members who joined Opus Dei in the last couple of days, keeping our belief that we always attract quality in this guild.
Congratulations also for the promotions of all the new and old officers. We have quite a few now, but still looking for more.
Finally a big thank you to all the applicants who were rejected for your interest in Opus Dei. I hope we can welcome some of you in the future within our ranks.
With our increasing numbers Opus Dei is growing day by day. Thanks to all for their beliefs in this organization and of course to our grandmaster for his tireless efforts.
Continuing our Class Guide Project, Opus Dei has released the CW class guide (for guild members only atm) following the GWF and DC class guides. More is coming soon for TR and GF and the plan is to make the guides public at some point, maybe after the new Module, class and class specialization that are incoming to the game soon.
As a reminder, we are always open to folks who are both great players and great people, and can hold their own weight in a well organized and experienced guild.
I would like to mention that me and the officers in Opus Dei are very happy with our members. The vast majority play on a daily basis and are very active. Most people joining us, especially after the shard merge, prove to fit in well with the team and can hold their own weight, thus keeping the guild's standards very high.
Opus Dei is always open to:
Great players, whether currently in a guild or not. If you are not happy with your guild for any reason, give us a closer look and see if you could fit in with what we stand for. Rules and entry requirements can be found on our website and on this thread.
Legit Guilds Alliance: As I understand after speaking with the other guilds in the alliance, we are all in favor of welcoming more guilds in, as long as they are legit and like-minded and would contribute more value to the alliance.
Merging with smaller guilds. If you have a very small guild struggling to play the team content, or you are in a dead guild with only a few members remaining in the game (saddly too many of those...), consider merging with us. This means leaving your old guild and joining us, but as a team and not individual recruits (we could be less strict with some entry requirements, other than no exploiting) You could even keep your old guild bank if you have invested in a lot of slots!
Experienced Foundry authors. If you can make great quests and campaigns true to D&D lore, original content with a good mix of role play, combat, story & lore, our doors are always open for you, even if you are a very casual player with bad gear on your characters (you will still have to be 100% legit ofc).
Opus Dei is introducing our own custom made DKP system, named ODP, along with a scheduled events policy for daily and weekly events.
More information can be found on our website.
Tomorrow the Module 2 expansion is coming and with that in mind I decided to open up our recruitment to new players level 30+ for a limited time only and a total of 10 new recruits.
These new recruits will be able to join the guild as trial members (rank 1-Initiates) and will be expected to hit lvl 60 soon and blend in with the rest.
So what will you 'gain' from this program? The chance to join a very active, well-established and organised guild that has been around since beta, without all the regular requirements, thus no need to be lvl 60 with GS 10K+, no need to have experience from past MMOs or Neverwinter, no need to know all dungeons and boss fights, or be good at PvP.
You must meet our other requirements and follow all guild rules however, thus register on our website and RaidCall group (and willing to use these to keep in touch and communicate with the guild), be mature and respect fellow guildies, be legit (no exploits), be able to play 15 hours a week on average (about 2h/day).
Note that we have never done this before, and this limited recruitment is targeted towards new promising players (you are just starting or have started recently) who are excited about the game.
Also note that we have no need or time for alts and loot wh0res who get their epics and swap guild or quit the game...
This chance will end upon getting 10 new trial recruits as described above, or after a limited period of time as we see fit, whichever comes first. After that new members will be accepted only if they meet our full entry requirements as described on our website (see guild info and forums).
As our guildmaster already told above, players that are interested in Opus Dei are all welcome while we all have the excitemenf of the new module. If you have in game questions I'm more than pleased to communicate with you and you can use these handles; @erginergen@primatthemammal
Have fun!
Our trial membership program is doing good, we already got a few trial recruits as well as a couple of full time members.
Welcome everyone and enjoy the game that's continually improving.
Update: Many new people joined Opus Dei lately, both trial and fulltime members. Welcome to all.
According to my records, there are only 3 spots left for trial members (limited trial recruitment program), so hurrry up people this is your chance! After we reach the 10 new trial members target this window will be shut and the guild will remain open only to experienced lvl 60 players who meet all our entry requirements.
Summary of entry requirements for full time members
Opus Dei is starting a more 'aggressive' weekly schedule with a mix of permanent events and one-time scheduled ones.
So from now on there will be 2 PvP Nights, 2 Dungeon Nights, 1 Campaign Night, 1 Foundry Night, along with at least 1 scheduled event (per week) that will reward members for participation. We are also trying to fit an alliance event (Legit Guilds Alliance) in the schedule. More info on that on our website.
If you are 'guild-shopping' for a serious guild and you think you have what it takes for a very active and well-organised group of players, join Opus Dei today.
Opus Dei Limited Trial Recruitment Program has ended, since we reached our goal of 10 new trial members (along with several fulltime members). A warm welcome to all new people. The program was a bigger success than expected
Recruitment is still open for exceptional players, lvl 60 only who meet our full entry requirements, as described on this thread and our website.
Thank you all for your interest in Opus Dei.
Please do not enquire about joining the guild without reading through this thread first. If you don't have time to read the whole thread take a quick look on our website instead. All the basic info is easily accesible and will help you understand if you could be a nice fit for our guild and us for you.
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year from Opus Dei & the Legit Guilds Alliance! Thank you all for your interest in Opus Dei. Sorry for the small delay in answering all PMs but I was away for the whole day yesterday due to the holidays. You can contact me in game @epsilon1977 or contact any of our officers if I'm not online.
Thank you all for your increasing interest in Opus Dei.
We appreciate all applications/enquiries and feedback/comments. Unfortunately I have to repeat once more that we do not recruit new players, trial members, or anyone below our entry requirements at the moment.
We might repeat a trial membership program or some open recruitment event at some point in the future but there are no current plans.
The guild is always open to exceptional players of high standards (experience, gear, behaviour etc) as described in this thread and our website.
Please do not contact saying 10K+ GS is elitist, CN/MC/VT are too hard, mention your fantastic achievements in long-gone MMOs nobody has ever heard about and similar things...you will probably get no response, as we have to save our time for people who can read and understand this thread.
Greetings, My name is Sintech, and I am a veteran gamer. Looking at your guild, in depth, your guild, looks like the right home for myself, as a player. That being said, I met most of your critera in regards to age (37) gameing experience (I still have my basic DnD box set) on and off the table.
My gameing history is as long as I belive most of your vetern gamers to be, so to much to mention here in this informal greeting, suffice to say, Ive played and or understand the list of games your brefily mentioned, and more.
Currently I am returning too NWO, and deciding between a HR and GWF for a main, though nither are end game ready or close.
Im not posting in the hopes that youll consider myself for early recutment, or event in game contac, but only to say that im interested in your guild, and I am organizing my in game time accordingly to meet your standards for end game recurtment.
Also too say thank you, for being the guild that older mature gamers can can join, regardless of weather I join you, or go to a different guild.
We had a new surge of incoming members the last few days. I wish to welcome you all and wish you the best of fun.
We also had a lottery giveaway of some 'special' items from the guild bank today with 3 winners. Currently planning for future similar events & competitions ;-)
