I've been messing around on the preview shard a fair bit recently and there is/was a new feature that companions give a passive stat as long as they're active. These stats followed you into pvp but as of late I've noticed that these bonus given by companions have now been made into just pve exclusive which is sad.
This game needs something to inject life into pvp and was getting ready to actually make use of (the seemingly useless) companions and collect a few but it seems the feature has been removed.
Did anyone catch this feature before it was removed? Thoughts and opinions how pvp can be more fun and worth while?
New artifacts, new class, new paragons, new boons, new gear, all affect pvp. We do not need to add companion bonuses and I believe it should be kept out of pvp since companions do not aid you in pvp.

New artifacts and new boons are the only valid points you brought up. not everyone will roll a hunter and the gear isn't new it's just same old stats recycled with new wep skins....
Artifacts and Boons apply in PvP. Both of these give stats and the former gives spell effects.
1. PvP is a competitive and therefore controlled environment for balance, maintenance and development reasons. Having Companions would explode the possibilities in such an environment, mainly due to gear and runestones but also due to the sheer variety of Companions.
2. In addition, many Companions are purchased from the Zen shop directly. Being able to use Companions in PvP would make the game undeniably and strongly P2W.
3. Limiting gear, runestones, skills, quality or or otherwise curtailing Companions in order to fit them into PvP would lower the value of Companions and pretty much make them identical to Artifacts, i.e. fixed and small range of stats and spells. So, ironically, you would hurt PvE far more than help PvP.
4. Related to three but not strictly the same, not having yet another context to worry about for balancing means devs can issue any kind of Companion, distribute it any way they like, and change it any time because PvE is not competitive.
5. Having Companions in PvP, would then raise additional issues like why would anyone take a pet that could be killed? Thus, immediately starting the process of changing Companions just to fit them into multiple contexts.

Basically, it will never happen...
This is all well and good but not what I'm talking about. I was talking about very minute bonus that these companions gave the owner while ACTIVE not SUMMONED i.e %1crit severity buff. so the companion isn't actually doing anything... I think I am being misunderstood, and seems like no one caught this feature before it promptly disappeared.

alot of us caught this...and we quickly mentioned it on bug reports...it has since been fixed because this does not belong in pvp.
think of adding 3 rank 10 runestones...along w the cumilative stats of the 3 equipment slots (and their 3 enchantable slots) on augmented stone/cat
.. it was fixed promptly because we dont need this....what we do need is more pvp maps and game modes.

Look in the Dev tracker. There you find an answer how Companions work in PvP.

Was never a feature, it was a bug. People asked if companion bonuses would function in PvP (mostly due to worry that it would be greatly unbalancing), and were answered that companions effectively don't exist for PvP and would do nothing. Any brief period in which they did grant them was a bug.
As stated, you can check the dev tracker to find the official word on the subject.
