I'm only referring to the attitude of some players that have to let all of zone chat know how well or unstoppable they are.
I don't fault anyone for being good at their class, I fault the mentality of some players.
You aren't one of the dbags I'm referring to then
As soon as I see them say "3v1 losers" I already know the class in question.

I getcha. Could have been a GF, too. I've seen them multi-tank very well.
And I've had the unenviable position of watching a VERY good DC tank three of our guys one time. That was a slap in the face right there ....

Eh, welcome to teh intrawebs. The semi-anonymous nature of internet communication lends itself to tough talk and rudeness as a general rule. I like the OP's initial reaction of just targeting the loudmouth throughout the course of the match. It's really one of the few ways to make an obnoxious ****** pay some measure of price for their behavior.
Had a DC talking smack to me because i was using ROAR i a PvP match against him. Like really? you have nothing better to do in a PvP match then critque my encounters?...Best thing to do is not reply back to anyone, like a fly just swat them.
In general, people gravitate toward the playstyle that fits their personality. Some gravitate toward the one that fits their "internally repressed ideal personality" but that's a huge off-topic conversation.
The good Tanks and healers are often the most polite people because the sort of person who excels at making a team do better rather than soloing everything and taking all the credit tend to be humble.
As for the trash talkers, well, Penny Arcade gave the ultimate statement on the process on March 19, 2004. Ever since their post all the rest is just spelling out the details and finding a few exceptions.
Most players are just some raging kids or people that can't take a lost, people would still do the annoying **** talk when they got outplayed.
I do find most of the time TR tend to be those ***-hat u run into, just my experience I might be wrong. And u know a TR is a joke if he is BIS and ask a cw for a 1 v 1 when his team lose badly. Real man TR take on gwf or tanky gf or another same gear level TR.
Yet there are still people that fight with honor and dignity, sadly those are the few.
I tend to keep my mouth shut while PvPing mainly because I'm there to have fun. When I see someone on an opposing team who smack talks and whatnot, I tend to make them my target. Every chance I get, I'll single them out that match and throw everything I have into killing them over and over so their kill-death ratio is horrible. That's my little way of dealing with disrespectful players.
To answer OP's question: It really depends on the mindset of the player at the time. But I think the most disrespectful players tend to be TRs. Nothing against the class in general, I absolutely love playing it, but there are a few players who just go out of their way to call out and degrade people in chat during a match when it's not necessary at all. The most respectful I've seen is probably the DC. I have yet to see one smack talk people.
