What is the recommended rating for foundry quests? Should author's design strictly for the family/children demographic? Or is it ok to have more mature themes?
I'm not talking about outright pornography, but I would like to do some things that are a little risque and sexually suggestive, but I'm not sure if such things are allowed.
Would it be alright to put a disclaimer in the description that this mission contains mature content and is not recommended for players under 15?
While I am not an Admin and I cannot tell you what the rules are I would reccomend you to use caution about that because the bots don't discriminate in any way about what the char is supposed to be (for example :how many times facing drows with a drow char they treated you like you were one of the surface dweller races and did not recognize you like one of their own?) and someone could be offended by that

I faced that issue with the storyline of my quest (a stag party) but I chose to work very carefully around it and limit it to subtle descriptions "Dancing girls"... and clever character names "Salacious Sally Smith" and so on.
The idea I've had is based around a succubus. She is the final boss you face, but in this case, you have the option to kill her or not (I won't elaborate too much, but I'm sure you get the idea).
I'm not gender biased, so I wanted the succubus to seduce both male and female players, though I can see that might be stretching things a little too far.
I just thought it might offer a fun and different alternative to the same old, same old formula of killing the final boss. But if it's a no, no, then fair enough!

I say do what you want, as long as it is in good taste, that's what succubi do so I don't see it being too far out there.

But you don't have to be explicit there : for example the succubus could for some reason at the end become friendly with char and propose to follow him/her around in further adventures... the rest is up to the player immagination or if you want a darker end the char would join the succubus but then he could do so with a villain that offered him a lot of gold too, once again is up to the player immagine what the succubus offered instead
To the best of my knowledge that isn't allowed at all.
You don't know how excited I am to see, online, the author responsible for turning my NWO experience around. (And will there be a chapter 3?).
Kilxan, I wouldn't set an age limit as that is a responsibility only a team of people can decide, but mature content quests are hardly rare; though some do have warnings that the theme of the quest is of an 'adult' nature. There is even a Spotlight quest that includes a back-room bordello, though thankfully we only enter it after the participants have tired themselves out from their activity.
The key is probably to suggest things of an adult nature without being explicit. That way the suggestion flies over the head of the 'innocent' but can still be enjoyed by adults. It's a tactic used in many 'family' films, for example, and seems to be the sort of thing you are considering.
Of course, I am no authority and can only comment based on my own interpretation of the 'vulgarity' ruling and of the quests I have played and enjoyed. If quests that have been deemed too explicit have been reported and removed I would be unaware of that.

Aw, thanks! I don't want to hijack this thread, so I'll just say this: Chapter 3 is coming. It's been taking ages and drained my energy for a while because it's so ambitious and complex. I worked on it earlier today, and will probably go back to it again tonight. It's roughly 3/4 complete.
basic rules
1. keep the language clean
2.make the innuendo suggestive while remembering rule one
3. don't be disgusting.
I also am doing a campaign based on the main NPC's being a succubus and a pit fiend so I feel your trepidation but the filter wont even allow the word a. I. d. s. so I have confidence in the system if you can do it its probably ok.
Read the Terms of Use in the Foundry. "Help" menu I believe. A dialog will come up giving you a list of what is not allowed in the Foundry. You'll find the content you want to put into your quest is listed in the not allowed list.
Personally I'd avoid sexual themes altogether, even for something like a succubus. The primary reason for this is that sex and sexuality is one of the hardest things to write, something that even celebrated authors struggle with. Most likely you'll drag the overall quality of your writing down by including these themes, despite your best efforts.
If you have to ask this kind of question, then you shouldn't do anything of this nature. I like to assume a child you know will end up seeing whatever you are making. Because they most likely will.

yes it's the Grandma rule: if your grandma wouldn't approve, it's probably not allowed. Assuming your grandma isn't one politely described as "colourful"
Ah I see! Thanks Chaelk, that's what I wanted to know. *Sigh* time to rethink my quest I guess. Thanks for all the replies guys. I'd hate to have put hours of work into this, just to see it banned
Some people claimed my quest wouldn't stand a chance but it's still there. All I did was use Cryptic's own animation assets to make it look like goblins were spanking, I didn't create those animations. Your quest will likely be fine unless it hits the front page, because it's probably not the sort of representation a company would want.

As I mentioned earlier, the back room of The Wobbly Leg (I think that's the one), is a red-swathed room containing several double beds with multiple semi-naked occupants. And it's a 'Spotlight'.
Which is entirely fair as the room will suggest one thing to an adult (at least, one who isn't completely innocent) and something else entirely to a minor. As long as quests aren't explicit and remain subtle in their suggestiveness, Rule 11. a) should remain vague to enable quests to be created and judged individually and in proper context. Not that it is really all that vague; note that 'suggestive' sits alongside 'pornographic', 'indecent' and 'lewd'. That's pretty much your answer right there klixan.
Yeah it's a funny old world we live in isn't it? Depictions of violence and killing are perfectly acceptable. Depictions of physical intimacy are considered indecent and obscene.
I dunno, I think the hippies might have gotten it right "Make Love Not War!".

Lol! Banned.
I saw a quest that had a Halfling blowing a human, the only thing missing was the broom handle through the body of the human to... well you can guess.
Point is, no one has time to check and ban quests. You would have to get so many complaints and no one will complain if it's a good quest.
The only thing that should dictate what you do or not is your own moral compass. I have read a fair few of your posts, don't take this the wrong way but I don't think you have it in you to offend. So do what you want.

Antonkyle that is one of the nicest things anybody has ever said to me. I take it as a great compliment and I sincerely thank you for it

Your welcome, just calling it as I see it. I do think the quest I was talking about was a bit much and wouldn't be surprised if the author was asked to change a few things. No big deal in this case.
I think it's ok to be suggestive, despite what the rules say. I'll pm you the quest I mean. It's actually one of the best I have played but that is despite rather than because of what I'm on about. I'll have to look first because I can't remember what it's called.
I wouldn't sweat it, klixan, because you don't ever have to show (or even describe in text) anything rule-breaking. We even have a nice fade-to-black effect!
You fade to black on a succubus, people are gonna know what happens next. No sweat.

Your grandma could surprise you with the things that she would approve whitout being "colorful"and about the things that are approved about a succubus...just look at the WoW succubus minion and if you have some doubt visit a certian tailor shop in Silvermoon
I don't think that at Cryptic they are more prude than at Blizzard
and about what is allusive at Cryptic go to the Seven Suns coster market in protector enclave and speak at Grace Rathburn. It is clear even if she don't tell you explicitly, what she is doing there:p

@Moonchips
Be suggestive... obliquely. I think you can have a courtesan and houses of ill repute, but... again, PG.
Wicks and Things: NW-DI4FMZRR4 : The Fenwick merchant family has lost a caravan! Can you help?
Beggar's Hollow: NW-DR6YG4J2L : Someone, or something, has stolen away many of the Fenwicks' children! Can you find out what happened to them?
Into the Fen Wood: NW-DL89DRG7B : Enter the heart of the forest. Can you discover the secret of the Fen Wood?
Another rule of thumb, most of the time this works... if you have to ask, its probably not allowed. lol
@Moonchips
Try a different approach.
