Speaking an honest observation is trolling I see?

The initial post is trolling. How many accounts have honestly logged in in the last month? How many of them stayed online for more than three minutes? How many of them left the main hub, or for that matter the invocation circle? Next time instead of deleting honest posts, think about the truth behind them.

So I logged to the other servers and added up the customers on each instance. Take in to account a generous 100% addition in other instances on the same server to make up for those in transit or doing other things and I come up with......well, not even close to 2 million as Cryptic claims. I don't really feel the gamers are also taking turns or waiting in line or logging in at their leisure either.

During the first 6 weeks these forums had 4 thousand people viewing, now it can barely muster 130 viewers on a busy day. Instances are pretty much empty, 2 on each "server" has between 120-150 and 45-80, with the last 12 or less having very low double and single digit, these are peek times too. Again add 100% population for error purposes and there is no where close to 2 million people playing this game actively.

Summary:
They HAD 2 million registered users that tried the game and quit and currently have significantly less would be more accurate.

A "Guess" by me would be well less than 50 thousand active folks, those that log in at least once a month now.

I state for the record Cryptic is full of BS for even stating they have 2 million players.
There is no worse feeling in the world than the moment during an argument you realize you are wrong.

it depends. did they say 2 million active or just 2 million accounts chin chillin regardless if the last time they played was 2 months ago?

When game companies hire a marketing company or department to promote their game by using numbers like this, they use the number of accounts made or active subscribers. In a free to play game with no subscription fee, there is no way to know who is currently playing and who is not, so they just count all accounts ever made.

edit: I think a more honest count would be "average number of players logged on during prime time hours", but no company is going to do that when they could just say "2 million people have made accounts!"

You don't have access to the numbers. They do.

Your unsubstantiated guess means nothing.

2 million... ROFL

Oh man, I had a good laugh.

If this game "has 2 million unique players," then 1.4 million of them must have either quit or been banned. 400,000 are bots and gold seller accounts. Rest of the 200,000 "unique players" are mules or players with alts.

2 million... LOL

Its definitely 2 million accounts created and is only vaguely related to concurrent active users.

Quite a few players and gold farmers would have multiple accounts to bypass the 2 char free per account limit.

Does show tremendous interest in the game from the outset.

so your snapshot at 1 time should give an idea of how many people play the game? so say 150 people on at a snapshot whats the average play length of a person? about an hour? 2 hours? hoe many days a week does a person play? how many are on vacation?
your snapshot means nothing without any additional information othr than that's how many people were in that instance during that snapshot.

Yes people may have multiple accounts
yes this includes bots and gold farmers

even so the game is still doing well. I can easily find groups to do pretty much anything at all hours of the day...that's all that matters.

Lulz, yeah, I saw that 2 million claim as well.

Like others have already said... it's marketing BS. There probably have been 2 million accounts made. Retention, however, is obviously not so well off.

2 million accounts - 1.8 million of which are muted as they are spammers for a highly visible 'farming' & gold selling site :P

LOL seriously, are you trolling ?

you obviously were not playing a couple of months ago, i would be very suprised if there was even 30% of the amount of players there was 2 or 3 months ago.
Added to that I wonder were nearly 600 members of my guild have mysteriously vanished too over the past 2 months too, They are all still in the guild, the roster shows 643 members, and since around a months ago there as only ever been 10 of them who have actualy logged on, and 2 of those are mine !

The guild cap is 500.

I had to laugh after watching the new trailer. It is funny how the bosses are so lonely there... waiting for the heroes to practice their fancy attacks on them. Why do you not show the floods of adds instead... because that is what the game is about... that and armies of bots.

They are obviously all on mind-flayer and in foundry mission and pvp instances or in various versions of driftwood inn and ebon downs tavern. also keep in mind at any given time half of them are named Author. In a game like this where so many people can have their own private instances to play in it can be very hard to tell how full the server really is. but I got 1 account and I have 5 chars 2 of them are in highly active rpsgs that have 5-10 ppl on even at the odd hours.

Sure there are a lot of people with multiple accounts and botters ect but so did city of heroes and it was considered successful with 300k accounts. Sure there are less ppl than whe it first came out there is always a massive glut of "Content Locusts" that swarm in the first few days. if you look at other game forums they all refer to NWO as...a pretty fun game. so other games like PWE and NWO. the only people who seem to HATE this game is the players.

but also there is often a dip in mmo population after 2 months. and right before new content releases. there are also often population dips in the summer due to vacations. In any mmo not just this one. Also remember they aren't countin warm bodies they are also counting pet purchases, Profession levels, quests, and guilds on their little survey. People with 34 accounts, who just login to invoke aren't doing quests. and im sure there will be a population increase after faywild.

part of the reason it feels like the population is less is the queue which makes even full teams of 5 wait 10 minutes to get in as it looks for that last non member. this has made a lot of people turn to guilds and forming their own teams removing a lot of pug players from the list completely. i
( also I believe the guild cap counts individual @names so iif 500 people each ahave 2 alts in a guild it will seem like the guild has 1000 people))

so believe what you like if you look hard enough you'll find the cloud in this silver lining im sure. but really what good will it do you. do you WANT this game to be failing? its not.... its getting good reviews and many new players a lot of zen purchases. Heck even the champions online people aren't as negative as these forums and they were practically ignored for 6 months now they are raving cause the new devs ..broke.. a costume piece... on purpose...for awesomeness.

this game has Lovely graphics, a fun and different combat style, foundry, a good storyline, very unique feeling classes, Good RP, more customization than a lot of games two months out of the tubes. and actually less bugs than a lot of games i've played. and a AD-Zen system so that people have the option to grind for the zen items. They aren't perfect but no one deserves this much scorn for everything they do.

Can't believe cryptic posts this with pride. Beholder has around 1500 players during peak times. I guess the other two servers have the rest of these 2 million.

Not to mention 2 months ago Neverwinter had between 200-500 viewers on Twitch. Now it is between 10-50. But don't mind me, i have no clue what the word correlation means

You do realize, of course, that all 2 million players DON'T play at the same exact time, right?

Also, can you please link your source to the official peak time numbers?

2 millions account..but how many active ?
Personally I got 4 account which are not active anymore as I'm bored of waiting for a new class, Dev to fixe exploit in dungeon, rework all T2 dungeons so that it's not all about adds management, rework their GS rank HAMSTER as most of the T2 cannot be done at the required GS etc...

Yeah Cryptic, we've seen that kind of announcement before.. to bad we learned to understand the true meaning of them : you're losing people days after days.

Ok I enjoy this game its why im still playing and still reading stuff on forums but there is not a chance in hell there are two million players. Maybe 2 million accounts created since the beginning of open beta but most of them wont still be playing by a longshot.
As I posted in another post the other day me and my 2 brothers were talking about how many people you reckon still playing the game so on Friday evening between 8-9 we did a check by poping into every map on all 3 servers and counting how many people were in each instance. On Dragon which we found was busiest was just under 1600 people the others were not much less about a hundred people difference between them. Obviouslly we cant see people in dungeons and pvp but I cant imagine its more the 100 or 200 hundred tops. So were now at just under 2 thousand at a peak time now I know not every player will be on at same time. But at peak time I don't believe a game with 2 million players would be missing 1998000 players. I would love them to release a article with just players that play for more than a hour a day because even then I doubt the number would be that hard. Take away all the people running bots in the zones we counted god the number gets even worse.

So again would be nice to see some real figures active accounts play time accounts that have not been touched for a day/week/month/ or since a hour after creation.

What source? Just log on and press M and go to change instances. You see there the amount of people in PE. Add another 30% to people outside PE and you get a rough estimate. You will see you will never get near 2 million at ANY point.

The way Cryptic advertises this is saying oke guys. PWE has 2 million accounts and they CAN play Neverwinter. Congratulation Neverwinter is a succes. But, that is now how things work obviously. Even at Open Beta launch, i can assure you this game never had more than 150k players active. At the state of this game, i would be surprised if this game had 10k players active.

Of 2 million players! Beautiful wonderful guy!
But this will continue even monstrous lag?
If you do not mend it, no one will want to be playing that does not ... at least now give the noobs leave and returned everything to normal ...
Just a tip for anyone that "boss" in the game, arranges this monstrous lag, if not two million not spare even 1 ... Thx.

Of 2 million players! Beautiful wonderful guy!

Actually checking the number of people online it is more likely to be 20,000 players and 1,980,000 bots...

Get off your bot high. I would say a small percentage is bots and that is a very small amount. Rest are players.

So you are saying that Neverwinter has close to 2 million players - REALLY?????

Check the number of players online in various instances in each server and post your figures if that is what you actually believe.....

So no figures, right? Thought so.

Just to give you some more incentive - someone posted recently his results for all servers. And guess which figure: 20K, or 2 million was much Much MUCH closer to what he found.....

EDIT:

Just did a check in Protector's enclave on Dragon server - less than a thousand total.

Probably not that fair as it is a weekday at an off-peak time (for the US - for other places it can be), even though it is summer.

It does however, give an indication as whether 20K or 2 million is likely to be the number of actual players....
