A little off topic Del... But I had to share, as we were talking about reviews before.
I got a review this morning, that has to be my favourite so far, it said:
Endlessly trudging through Foulspawn not my cup of tea. I was not expecting a hack and slash!
I won't name the person, but they gave me a 3 star review for this!!
Endlessly trudging??? My quest takes 15 minutes if you read ALL the text! had to laugh
But the best bit... 'Wasn't expecting a hack and slash'... Err, huh? Your playing Neverwinter! A hack and slash mmo! lmao.
Art (aka Casek)
Disclaimer: This was not my review (not sure I have played this actually, so will add it to my list).
I went and read this player comment and the reviewer did not say they were "endlessly trudging" they said they were "mindlessly slogging". Quite different. The hack and slash comment could also be valid...your description calls this a "story driven campaign that is heavy in strategy while fighting". I think someone could be forgiven for thinking that story might outweigh combat.
As for claiming we are playing a H 'n' S MMO, I have no idea how you came to that conclusion. BUT, even if NWO was a 'game of violence with no other plot elements' to argue that we should all expect only that from Foundry quests is quite ludicrous.
You know, the guy gave you 3 stars and took some time to give you some feedback. I'm not saying you should change your quest in any way to meet his personal expectations, but he certainly doesn't deserve to be derided for his comments, anonymously or otherwise.
I didn't say I didn't enjoy it! In fact I said there was lots of stuff in there that I loved! As you have already addressed the environment and CW range issues, once sorted this would be an automatic minimum 4* in my opinion.
If I may ask a few questions. Which Hellbeast encounter are you talking about? If you're talking about the one in the maze room those should not be able to be fought. There is a reach point that turns that into something else. Is this the encounter you're talking about? If it is I think I may know what happened. Due to your range you were probably able to engage the mobs. They run towards you and you run back. If you ran forward the encounter would have disappeared due to the reachpoint. Sounds like I need to move the reach point back to account for a CW's range. That is very useful feedback, thank you!
Yes I pulled from the corridor that runs from the lava room to the next (presumably the maze). My MM has 80' range plus an additional 10% from a feat - so 88' altogether...not sure if that is useful info, but I am happy to test the range after you adjust the reach point
I'll also take a look at the lava room. I boxed the area in with invisible walls so the player would not be able to fall into the lava as they would not be able to get back up. That, and when the elementals spawn and fall in then they can't reach the player and get killed with impunity. I'll play with actually adding a layer of invisible walls just below the surface of the lava so I don't need to box in the path and cause geometry glitches. That way the mobs can fall off the path and still reach you and the player can fall and get back up. Again, great feedback, thank you.
From a purely aesthetic perspective, it simply looked as if the ceiling was too low for the height of the mobs. I would have thought raising the ceiling a few feet would be the easier option, but I guess it isn't as simple as that (and apologies for getting into authory stuff I know nothing about).
As for Dolf and Grim. I realize it's a difficult fight, but due to the lack of being able to create bosses and the fact that they are the Bloodletter Brothers I felt the difficulty was warranted. To be completely honest, I'm not entirely satisfied with the fight. If you have any suggestions for replacement mobs that are just as difficult but are not immune I would be open to the suggestion.
Either way thank you for not reviewing in-game due to dissatisfaction. I'd much rather have the opportunity to change your mind than for you to two star it and give up
I wouldn't have downgraded for Dolf and Grim's alone. It was only the prevalence of control immune mobs (in pretty quick succession) that had me deduct a star. Now you have clarified the second encounter should never have happened, you've already gained back that point.
I look forward to playing again some time in the future.
Hey, If you're willing to trade a review on my 2 person, group quest, I'm looking for reviews for my second foundry in my campaign. Info in my sig.
I'll do your quest with my lvl 43 rogue and cleric companion.

I have a question for you in a PM Karitr, when you get the chance
I tried to place an NPC hanging from a ceiling myself, never got it to line up like you did. Nice work.
I found it funny how the drunk was just as good a fighter as most of the others :-)
Chickens??? Seemed quite random to me.
The letters on the wall, I must say was incredibly done. I never would have thought of that. Kudos
All the encounters were very well placed and you even added corpses after you killed them.
and the cut-scenes were ingenious.
Overall I loved it, what else can I say? I subscribed and cant wait to see the rest

Thanks so much Sarkany, I'll make sure and get yours done tonight
Hey delrachnid, I went off for dinner but have replied now.
Edit: At least 2 posters have mentioned letters on a wall. I'm not recalling seeing anything in my play through, so I maybe missed something important, definitely outstanding...I'm going to put that down to running like the coward I am when 3 Hellbeasts were on my tail, but it looks as if I managed to screw up your dungeon big time with one long-range but badly timed Magic Missile.
And if the letters were before that encounter...oh well, shame on me
Wow, what a totally different experience this was on the replay. A tweak or two - including a restraining order served on a wizard who wanted to fire on everything - removed potentially frustrating mishaps and enhanced the player experience tenfold.
You totally changed my mind delrachnid - this is a stonking five stars worth of a quest.
Thank you for being so gracious and open-minded with my earlier critique and yes, shame on me for missing those letters!

You guys are awesome. It means a lot to get solid feedback as an Author. Lol we spend hours in there and to take what you guys suggest and implement just improves the quality. No reason to feel disheartened by constructive criticism. It challenges me to be better and I will never feel wronged for that
I just done your quest. Few notes, but I had a great time.
Some great use of the foundry tools, the hanging father was very cool; I was a bit let down they you were not in there very long.
The hidden traps were very good, how you hid them.
I enjoyed the cross over from NPC to encounters.
One thing i was not sure about and that is, after talking to the old man, when the encounters spawned, if you kill the main mob the others de-spawned, but it’s not a big deal.

Thanks Visual, will take a look at yours when I get back from work in a couple of hours
First heard on the despawning. Might be a one-time glitch. I usually always killed the main first and never had the archers despawn. I'll test it again tonight and see what's up. Much appreciated for bringing it to my attention.
