Hi there NW Foundry community,
I founded and help to admin a website for the Star Trek Online Foundry community of authors and players. It is called
Starbase UGC, and it has become a hub for STO's foundry community.
We provide a place for authors to post mission ads and trailers, advertising banners, news, mission reviews, podcasts, and tutorials. We also heavily promote contests and the winners of spotlights.
Here, for example is
our master list of Foundry tutorials, mostly done by me.
The basic goal was to provide a UGC-style blog, where any Foundry author can post about their mission, review other missions, rant, etc. (so long as the rules are followed).
Now, a few active Starbase UGC folks have created a sister site called
Tavern UGC.
It is still under construction. Mostly, we've put the bones of the site in place, and we are now looking for folks to step in, finish, and maintain it.
To be honest, most of the crew at Starbase UGC has little interest in NW, because our hearts are in Star Trek and telling Star Trek stories. So, we'd like to find some passionate NW folks to help Cerberus steer the sister site. We're hoping to find some folks who are as passionate about NW and the Foundry as we are about STO and the Foundry.
In particular, we're looking for folks who would like to post news, tutorials, reviews, polls, and generally anything comparable to what Starbase UGC does, except for Neverwinter's Foundry community. We also have a lot of STO foundry podcasts, so if you're interested in doing a podcast about NW's Foundry, please make contact.
If you are interested, please respond to this thread, or email
admin@tavernugc.com. Also,
join this chat room and speak with some of the main Starbase UGC crew. Also,
follow the site on twitter, since Cerberus may use that medium as a recruiting tool for the site.
Please tell us what you could be good at doing and how much experience you have with wordpress, websites, etc.

I'm Cerberusfilms, one of the Founders and Admins of TavernUGC. I've been part of the Neverwinter Foundry since September 2012, and the Star Trek Online Foundry since it was in Closed Beta.
We've been working on a series of comprehensive Video Tutorials that hopefully we'll be releasing soon.
Please come and join this ever growing community, share your tips, tricks and ideas with other authors, we're all a friendly bunch.
Feel free to tweet me directly @cerberusfilms, and checkout some of the audio and video podcasts we have in the community already, many of them are looking to expand into covering Neverwinter Content too, so just drop me a line if you're interested

These reviews are great. They are very much the type of thing that we like to see at Starbase UGC. Please register for Tavern UGC and either Cerberus or I will set it up so that you can post your reviews there.
PS. Sometimes registration requires you to hit "forgot password" if you don't get the activation email.
This is an awesome review, Herc! It's a great service to the Foundry community. The only change I made was to move the more tag to show the cool graph on the front page. I'll also set it up where you can post without the pending process. That way, you don't have to use photobucket, etc.
It is great to see you guys in Neverwinter - Starbase UGC is by far the best resource out there for STO Foundry authors and players and I am sure your Neverwinter portal will match this. If anyone wants to learn more about the Foundry I strongly recommend checking out their website and portal.
-See you in Neverwinter,
H2orat
Thanks H20rat.
It is great to see you posting again.
Foundry authors can write one or two articles or Foundry ads whenever it is convenient. It doesn't have to be a regular thing or any kind of a time commitment. You could write an article whenever you feel like it.

Thanks, I'll set it up so that you can post when you feel like it.
See if you can log in. Something strange keeps happening with the built in wordpress emails. People either get them or not. Also check you spam folder.
I have set you as a contributor. If you don't have a password, please pm me here on the forums and I can manually set one for you (which you can then change).
I'd love to see a searchable database of Foundry content with reviews/ratings just like the ones you are doing here. It would make that site my first stop before going into game and deciding which mission to play next. Ideally, the site would allow others to submit review data to the database so that there are more "feet on the street" and therefore more gets covered. Are you guys planning anything like that?
If so, how can we help?
I am not sure if I fully understand the system that you are imagining, but one thing that we can do (and I need help from NW folks):
At Starbase UGC, we have additional tags which authors can associate with their mission when they post about their missions on the blog. The categories are associated with factions and the types of missions being made
[Fed] Federation
[KDF] Klingon
[Com] Combat
[Dip] Diplomacy
[RP] Roleplay
etc.
If you guys can suggest tags that are appropriate to NW, I can add them. So, if you're in the mood for a RP mission, then you can sort the ads that way. Any suggestions?
Edit:
Yep. This would be the best source of tags.

That is definitely something that would help. As a player right now (and hopefully an author in time), it would be nice to be able to jump on to a site and do an "advanced search" on content. So, for example, I want all Foundry missions that are #puzzle heavy (ie. rating of 3+ in Puzzles) and an overall review average of 3+. Or, 3+ in #puzzles and 4 in story. That might lead me to a mission that I have yet to try. The more people that rate, review and add the information to the site, the more it shows up in searches, and the more, hopefully, it gets played.
Also, searching by average time to complete would be good, but that would be hard to maintain outside looking individually at all the content.
PS: @gemstrike - that's a great list but what would make it really awesome is a way to see how the content gets rated/reviewed outside the pretty basic model in game. I think almost every quest in game is 4 stars
You might be able to use the search feature as well. Once we have missions listed, then it might be worth it to search "puzzles 5 stars"
We once tried adding a wikipedia component to Starbase UGC. It was an awful waste of time. If anyone can suggest an alternative, then I could try to set something up. I have a few other types of content databases, but I've never used them.
Does NW's custom foundry search tool not let you do this? Ours for STO lets us custom search based on average playtime of a mission, as well as ratings. So, if I'm in the mood for an epic 2 hour+ mission with an average 4 to 5 star rating, then I can use the STO foundry search tool to find them.
If you folks don't have that, then it's probably coming soon. I can't imagine STO's foundry having something that NW does not, beyond space ship battles.
Hey there, this is something we're interested in implementing, it would be useful to have a resource like that outside of the game.
There ar a couple of issues I can think of straight off though.
1. It would rely solely on the Authors to put their missions in there and the community to go and rate them outside of the game.
2. As Kirksplat said, something with that same idea in mind was tried before in STO as far as the wiki went, it never really took off and actually caused an abundance of issues for the site.
However, that being said, if there's a better way of implementing it, I'm all for it
It may take a while to implement, but hey, the game's still in beta. Perhaps the Dev's may also be willing to lend some support to the endeavour to tie it into ingame stats, if they don't already have that planned
Also love the site as a whole. Glad the large STO community is filtering over to Neverwinter.
