As suggested elsewhere in the forums I have attempted to get into the Astral Diamond Exchange by clicking on the Gem while it was at 100%. This has not worked. Have I missed something?

Um... not sure what you are talking about. It sounds like you are clicking on the Action Point gem to try and access the Zen Exchange.
To access the Zen Exchange look at the bar at the top of the screen. The item 3rd from the left is the Zen Exchange.
Thanks ikuruyo, someone in these forums said that you enter the exchange by clicking on the GEM which obviously is a waste of time. I have since discovered the proper icon but I now cannot figure out how the exchange works. This whole affair is extremely frustrating to say the least. The developers have obviously never heard of KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) when they designed this thing.

The exchange is broken up into 3 tabs.
The first tab is for buying Zen and has an area showing the current offers to sell Zen. You can either pay the amount people are offering to sell for or enter your own amount.
The second tab is for selling Zen. The area at the bottom shows the current best offers to buy Zen. You can either sell to the people for the amount they are offering or make a new offer selling the Zen for the amount you want to sell for.
The 3rd tab lists all the offers you have up as well as your history and who bought from you at what rate.
If you try and make an offer to sell zen at 300 AD each the game will sell your Zen for you getting the best price in AD it can. The same is true for the other direction.
Well, I did as you suggested ikuruyo. I made an offer to sell 25,000 AD for 300 zen. I have waited for over a day to get a reply. This is absolutely ridiculous. If it were not for the fact that I was finally able to do some quests (dying many times for lack of coin to buy healing pots) I would be unable to play the game! This system is absolute nonesense! If this situation occurs again I will give my account away with no regrets or fear of the EULA kicking me out of the game. This is because I will NEVER... EVER buy another game from PW or Cryptic again.

The price of Zen is currently pinned at 500 AD per zen. This is a result of all the players currently in the game having 600,000-2,000,000 or more AD from the promo packages they purchased. As the time passes and the various systems remove the promo AD from circulation the amount of AD per zen will decrease, depending on how easy it really is to earn AD in game.
If you offered to spend 25000 AD on 300 zen then it comes to about 83 AD per zen. For the rate to reach that level the game would probably have to be out for a year or more. STO was at that level and lower for a bit before working its way back up to 125 dilithum/zen (Their equivalent). Unfortunately there is currently a flood of AD on the market thanks to the large promo gifts. On the over you made, The example I gave was going the opposite direction. Selling Zen for AD, not buying Zen for AD.
On the matter of healing potions, if you are on Dragon shard I have some I can give you if you want. I'm level 23 and I've used 2 total of the small ones. I have over a stack of them laying around. The game really wants you to learn to watch the enemies, all of their attacks take a second or two to finish. You can watch them wind up for the big attacks. If you see a red area on the ground you want to get out of it. Mostly by dodging. Depending on class but most of them can dive out of the way of an incoming attack. The guardian fighter is the one built to take it. They mostly want a healer though. If you are having that much trouble try the cleric first and learn to watch how the enemies attack and how to dodge out of the attacks.
I'm still trying to work my way through the free 1000 hp heal bound to character ones I got from the leveling box.
Thanks again ikuruyo, I managed to reach lvl 16 last night and got a companion healer. I appreciate your help and tips. Survival seems considerably easier now.
If you could help with one more question I would be grateful. I cannot get into the https//support. perfectworld.com site neither have the GM's been bothered to reply to my 'bug' reports nor has anyone online replied to my query. How do I get back the AD I have 'lost' while trying to convert them? Thanks again for your help!

If you posted an offer to sell AD for zen and the offer is still listed on the 3rd tab of the exchange, you can cancel the offer and the AD will go into the exchange balance. If you then go to the first tab of the exchange the AD in the exchange balance will be shown at the bottom of the window. To the right of it will be a withdraw button. Click the button and it will give you the option to withdraw however much of the AD as you wish, defaulting to the entire balance.
Can you get your AD back when you put them on offer because i put 50 AD for 1 zen because previously i put a bigger amount before and nothing was happening so i with drew back my 50 AD first got that back straight away then i withdrew my other amount of AD for zen and i got none of it back, this system is a pile of **** and misleading and a waste of bloody time, if it is not going to refund properly because Cryptic or PWs refused to take add a fudging notification boxes and how it works, i dont care if this a beta but if you have put help boxes for everything else step by step then why not the AD/zen exchange what laziness by these guys, you need to up you game a bit more if you want this to be successful in every possible way they can imagine.

I'm not sure how it's supposed to work, but I tried exchanging AD for Zen, and although it took my diamonds, it says that I have no current listings, and I have 'purchased Zen', but they are not showing up in my inventory. Does it take time for it to show, or are the diamonds being 'held' somewhere until someone exchanges it or what? Don't get it. Thanks.
I'm having the same issue, I purchased Zen from a top lister, the game took my AD, but I still haven't received my zen from the deal. It's been 24 hours now.

The Zen aren't sitting on the exchange waiting to be withdrawn? It takes two steps to be able to spend Zen bought on the exchange, first buying and then withdrawing.
