OP sounds like you want a Pseudo-Dragon, which was a classic D&D special/rare Familiar, for good aligned magic users. Very cool little guys.
For me, it would depend on what class I was playing, but as say a Warlock, I'd love and Imp, or maybe a Quasit depending on my Ethos.
