Not Sure why so many feel they got shafted if the didn't get in the beta weekends. Is waiting for open beta so bad? Unless there were specific promises to get in on those them. Then I could understand. Otherwise, why wouldn't the people willing to shell out cash for the game in current production get first dibs. I'm just saying, lets just be happy dates are finally rolling out.

Here is proof of the SPECIFIC promise given by Cryptic for CO life time subscribers to get Access to the NWN Closed BETA
We are happy to announce that all Champions Online Lifetime Subscribers will be receiving access to the Neverwinter Closed Beta test*. *When this testing phase begins, invites will be doled out to Lifetime Subscribers over the course of the test.
So needless to say where is my access to closed beta PWE/Cryptic ... or was it yet another Lie to your followers !

There is no need to reserve names in the Cryptic Engine.
Character Names are unique only per account. Every player gets assigned a Server-wide Unique @handle. All characters made on the account share your Cryptic @handle.
For example, I can make ONLY one "Zebular" who, if a player enables the option to see @handles, would see me as "Zebular@Captain Zebular" in chat (not overhead names, overhead names only display the character name, not @handles) - I cannot make two "Zebular@Captain Zebular" characters on the same account.
However, if Bobby wishes, she could make a Zebular also, but her full character name would actually be something like "Zebular@bobby"
Hope that helps!
I liked it this way in CoH/V, I am glad for it. thanks.

You didn't read the first post, did you?
Have a look, it says that the info on that is yet to be released. Pin will be posting more tomorrow come the official start of the promotion. Stay tuned!
You'll be able to contact me on any of my characters that I am on by simply sending an ingame tell to @captain zebular and whatever character I am on will get the private tell. You can also do as you said, and send a tell directly to that charater by placing teh name before the @handle. If I am in your friend's list and you start to type any of my character names, it will let you autocomplete the name choice by showing you my character name and handle the chat system things you're trying to send a /tell too.
If you really want to learn more and experience this first hand, check out either Champions Online or Star Trek Online, as both are also under the Cryptic Engine and use the same chat system.
(keep in mind, that I have a VERY old cryptic handle, so it has a space in it, now you cannot have spaces in @handles)
Wait will it use Cryptic handle or PWE handle, cause that might confuse people if it is Cryptic handle. Although Id prefer it to be Cryptic handle?

This is probably the murkiest I've ever seen as far as beta information goes.
For example why bother partnering with a gaming magazine to distribute Beta keys if you have no idea what phase they're even going to be in? There's FIVE separate categories of distributed keys with no beta until... April it seems?

They should be one and the same? PWE never had @handle prior, it is a Cryptic Engine thing.
Ok I just figured since forum names are different(especially since May). My Cryptic was/is DeathsCrowbar my forum Name is DeathsSickle.
Thats why I was asking. Just like your forum name is Zebular, but you handle is Captain Zebular

Since NWO is still in Testing, their Account Page isn't set up yet. However, you can double-check your selected @handle by doing the following (I know it's wierd but it works!):
Go to http://sto.perfectworld.com and log in there. Then click on My Account way up top on the top menu bar. This will take you to STO's specific account page. On the bottom right, click on "Create/Manage Subscriptions" and you may be asked to log in again as well as prompted for an Account Guard One-Time Code. After all that, you will be taken to a Subscription Selection page for Star Trek Online. If you look on the top left, it will say "Hello, <name>" - <name> is your Cryptic Account Handle.

Thanks. My at handle is DeathsCrowbar. Im glad that I have made it clear in my signature I use both names. I prefer to use Deaths Crowbar. but just calling me Death is easier

While I understand the frustration on the limited playtime, this is the first step in the introduction of beta, not the regular playtime of a full beta cycle.
Not only is this not an ongoing closed beta but just a weekend. This isn't even NEAR the open beta weekend stages venomgundam123 used an example. This is the beginning of the beta path and that comes closer to the end.
Again, this isn't open beta, this is closed beta and this is only the FIRST Closed beta weekend.
It's going to test how the public does all things, including connection, playing, socializing and (yes) reporting their experiences to many others, even if the NDA would still be in effect.
And apologies, but as was discussed then, Steam TL2 got TL for their bonus while those who ordered directly from PWE got the key.

Cryptic still is basing this on phasing. Yes there are those who support the product via packs getting priority access, but I have yet to see a promotion that has used F2P setups that HASN'T offered workable keys for immediate access this way.
City of Steam and Path of Exile are two of my more later games I joined (that I can speak about as some others are not discusable) that did this for their limited access weekends, and they are well done and currently heavily supported, and yes, have a LOT of sites give out keys as well as randomly gave out their own (PoE is Open beta now and CoS is between CB and OB still I believe.) It's simply not a full ongoing open running state yet, and if ever there was a time to slowly test the inclusion of more users, this is how it would be done "promotion" or not. "Free" key users also can get in, so a sampling of all people-with noted priority of course posted by the CM-will be done as the ramping process for more BETA times is prepared.
Down the line when this is an ongoing closed beta, more keys will be offered and access will be relegated, but still in a phased stage. I'm going to offer the cold dose of reality now: Everybody at once isn't getting in at once. Even on the forums.
As for those who were here earlier, I'm trying to see if there is any way to verify the old-timer users (very difficult since the PWE forum merger back in May 2012) and get them prioritized, but if any simply got the beta keys mentioned, there is no guarantee WHEN those keys will phase in for access. This info like release dates is strictly regulated and we community mods are excluded from the info (and even if the NDA were to drop with these weekends, this who gets in when info still would be proprietary if we did know for obvious reasons.)
So if you wish to support the game and buy packs or even pay more for the higher tier and be guaranteed access, that's fine.
But those who didn't pay attention to the purchase includes a bonus key, warnings (and yes it's in my FAQ as well) or chose to not pay attention to the ONGOING acceptance, are themselves responsible.

So let's get that straight;
Those Beta WE access does not mean regular access, right? So basically, I've chosen to pre-order Torchlight via PWE in order to get "BETA access" for Neverwinter but all I get is 4 days worth stress test.
That's the decision, right?

Well, TL2 pre-order got bumped to WE2 instead of only WE3 as told at first yesterday. ;-)
So basically 2 weekends. But considering it's a stress test and we won't be able to play like 70 hours a session, 2 days per WE is a fair assumption.
so how do i buy the neverwinter founder's pack thingy? or is it too late for that?

The promotion goes live and will be purchasable sometime tomorrow (today for me), the 29th of January.
Players will be able to purchase Founder's Packs on the official Neverwinter web page starting tomorrow. You don't have to buy one to get into the beta weekend, but it helps.

It's a shame. I'd be more apt to put money out early to support a game if there was more information available about the actual game. It's too much for me to put blind faith into any game after so many have left myself (and my wife) in disappointment after shoveling out money early.
I hope you all plan to bump up the visual representation of in game information (and textual for that matter), because I'm betting that would turn better results. A lot of people are up in arms about the pricing with no information who want to support a game they are very interested.
Any information on when you might give us more than the idea of pie? Like a sniff?
