You're right over the course of a match Negation will provide more DR since the buff doesn't drop like shadowclad. Showdowclad technically does provide more DR when its at 8 stacks giving 32% DR compared to 30% from Negation. Negation also provides the recovery buff which is good for our HAMSTER cool down timers, but it still doesn't make up for the loss of the invis proc.
I've been playing around with Arms of Hadar again recently, I still feel I do less dmg with them then I do with Killing Flames but I definitely enjoy having another source of CC. Prone is very strong especially with good team communication using it to set up a kill.
How are we looking in Mod12? As a console baby I'm worried but optimistic to see the upcoming changes first hand.
Shadowclad doesn't provide 32% DR, it provides static I think it is 8% DR buff and stacking deflection. Read description carefully, the phrasing is a little confusing on this one. Although it certainly proves how effectively good deflection is.
"When receiving damage each hit adds 10% to your Deflection rating and a 4% increase to your Damage Resistance for 8 seconds. This effect can stack a maximum of 8 times and expires when you successfully Deflect."
The wording suggests both the deflect and DR stack.
So I did some testing with something @etelgrin suggested earlier in this thread.
I dropped my Valhalla Set for the Company Executioners Cloak and the Greater Sash of Charisma, I dropped the Horn of Valhalla for the Eye of the Giants (also testing with Tome of the Ascended here), and I dropped my Lostmauth Horn for a Kessels Sphere.
Making this changed allowed me to move the 5 points for CHA into CON bringinger my buffed CON up to 23 while keeping my CHA at 30. I also speced 3 points back into Blood Pact.
Doing this I've noticed a significant dmg boost. And I haven't really noticed a survivability loss from removing the Valhalla set and dropping my HP.
It's a fun little change, thank you @etelgrin for bringing it up.
I have checked your channel quite a few times already, wanted to see what you'd say here to have a chance of learning more. Interesting tip against oppresor CWs, thanks, I will try it out, basically any at least half decent oppresor CW means death to me, I only have negation at the moment so that may be part of the reason why I can't do anything I guess but yeah, oppresor CW? cc'ed to death every single time ;_; well to be fair the GF is much better geared for pvp than the SW at the moment, it is my main, after all.
I'm still trying to decide between the GF and the SW, I can't afford pvping with both I think, I like both so it is a difficult choice for me. As for the lion, no one wants to trade theirs for some of my enchantments so it is unlikely I will be able to get it ;_;
I see I was severly underestimating CHA, I thought it'd be subpar compared to CON o.O doesn't the extra crit chance from CHA hurt your dps though?
CW indeed is a superior class but I prefer GF/SW, I simply cannot stand classes where atwills aren't a significant source of damage, relying on mostly encounter spam to dps bores me to not end, that's the reason my first toon (a HR) is a pack mule and invoking slave lol
You don't use KF that often, the dps increase from it does not make up for the huge loss in survability, correct?
I replaced Killing Flames with Arms of Hadar because the DPS is pretty much the same+it lays PRONE and procs me Combatant Manuever which is supreme dps feature and is also one of the reasons why things such as Griffons or Bullcharge does extra damage because upon proc it doesn't simply increase damage by +5% it creates a proc of CAD with increased value by +5% (this is a guess tho, but proc is not a guess, its happening), this is huge is like another hit of similar strength. I still use WB I have made some new tests yesterday but I don't really want to reveal the results cause it can make more nerfs, not neccasary in my eyes. WB is the survivability feature tho, it grants me life steal procs and does some decent damage. Killing Flames is also very easy to dodge and you need to bring opponent real low in order for it to do any actual damage, AoH does basically the same dmg and is HP-undependant, this is also a reason why I picked Brutal Curse and not Murderous Flames, because I don't use KF.
My crit is 34% chance, stat is like 3,8k critical I doubt I can get that any lower. Critting won't be bad mod 12, is just isn't THAT important like armor pen or power and it doesn't outperform these anyway.
Very interesting regarding the CHA belt/neck. Do you notice the loss of DR from AC? or does the additional LS more then up for it?
The defense and DR aren't in my opinion worthy PvP defenses. You should be aiming at HP-Deflection-Life Steal. In my opinion.
I see what you mean, KF indeed is so hit and miss plus if your enemy is a very hard hitting + he happens to deflect that KF it is likely one can go down.
I agree, we can't afford getting nerfed anymore, anything that can lead to be downgraded yet again should not be made public for our class' sake.
Atm I am considering to grind a lot of resources so I can have a crazy amount of enchantments, that way I should be able to keep 1 toon getting me ad with pve and using the other one to pvp, this pretty much means I should refrain from getting a lion, either both toons get it or none and eh I rather have a lot of rank 12's available. Once I feel like I have enough enchs I will go after a lion but that may not happen anytime soon. I have negation, elven and barkshield at trans (the latter just for my SW and only for PVE, it is utter garbage for everything else lol), as for what you guys said shadowclad seems to be the way to go but not sure if I like becoming invisible xD
I think rotating toons would be more affordable and reasonable, having a full set of pve and pvp enchs for 2 toons is way too expensive so that's why I may end up just rotating them lol.
@dandello I saw a YT video where you kill a GF using companion(s), you didn't seem to use one so nice fight there! xD
@jaime4312#3760 PS is loaded with augments and actives in IWP. I'm one of the few players that doesn't use them lmao. What's it like on xbone? Do you guys deal with the same HAMSTER in IWP?

@dandello#8818 likewise on xb1, I'm one of not much people who aren't companion-using trolls, just check out IWD YT of both PS and XB1 and you'll see people have the companion bonus on their buff bar. Saw a PS YT video titled " sw fair faight..." so played it and saw a SB SW angainst a HB one, I think they both were using companions so closed it right away.
So yeah, go to IWD on xb1 and expect to get hamstered by companion-related bugs and what not.
On PC we don't use companions dueling in IWP, now it doesn't matter anyway because you can queue 2 people and just train 1v1 on Dom map so you are always sure this way that the opponent doesn't use companions. You do not have this on xbox yet though, it will come as mod 12 feature, and hopefully more in mod 12b.
@etelgrin man the communities are so different it makes me feel like switching if I could anytime soon. Yeah I'm looking forward to 1v1 people for practicing, I bet it is quite fun not to be interrupted by other people. By the way, what's your opinion on new exe TR and SoD? Is it more dangeours than pre mod 12 combat ranger ? I saw the videos on your YT channel, that was crazy o.O
