Green item V Blue and Purple

Just wondering if Purple items give anything over blue and green items and if blue items give something over green items? The reason I ask is because I have found that sometimes a green item can appear better than the expensive (AD's needed) Purple items. The way I calculate is to total the score of an item by adding all the stats that item gives together to form a total. Is this the right way to do it?

Many times now the player level of and item will be that same with two items that I'm comparing while the item level will be higher sometimes with the green item and I can't work out why the game is recommending the item that appears to have less stats. How does the game calculate which item is better?

Thanks

Wade

Do the items require the same level to wear? A level 60 green is better than a level 50 blue but you can't wear the level 60 until you are level 60.

Thanks for your help here. What are the subjective bonuses that the game calculates?

If I can presume to speak here, it's a reference to the item level system seeming somewhat arbitrary at times in what it will recommend for you.

For example, any +2 Underdark ring will be recommended over a dual-slotted personalized ring from the jewelcrafting profession. This is because the Underdark rings have a higher item level, even though more than half of them have fairly useless bonuses, and they don't have two slots for enchants until you find a +4 ring. The game says the Underdark ring is the more powerful item of the two, even though the personalized ring is a reliable item which might be giving you more useful stats than a weird situational bonus.

Also worth mentioning for level 70 equipment, "high quality" shirts and pants have a higher item level than Drowcraft, but lack an enchant slot, which makes them inherently worse.

Yes, the Underdark rings are the primary area where IL can go far astray. As Becky says, many of the bonuses are situational at best, others are worthless. (Rising Fortitude) Additionally there are armor set bonuses that aren't accounted for such as Dragonflight (bonus) vs. Company (no bonus) Essentially, the IL only matters when comparing 2 items with essentially the same stats.

The rising/sudden power/precision rings are great though. Especially the +4/5 ones. I could see the argument that the STK rings are better but they require you to be able to run FBI or the skirmish. Most of the underdark rings are only useful for PvP or completely useless though you are right.
