What is the Arc Client?
Install Arc

Disapointed in the playerbase focus.

I get that fixing bugs is important but also important are Quality of Life or QOL fixes.

The thing is that QOL threads are close to zero.
Post a QOL thread petition in pc preview shard and nothing, zip, nada, zero interest in QOL.

Its like the story of the car needing a paint job, ac fixes, a sound system, a gps but the users stop at only getting an oil change.

Soo instead of posting rants and bothering Devs my fix was just to sigh and to hopefully wait for fixes in further updates?

And yes I do have some hope of QOL fixes later on since I consider it childish to go to PE and say hey!! free rank 12 enchants, free gold, free ad soo first come first gets my stuff.....yeah childish.

QOL threads pop up now and then. All good ideas but there are just no resources on the dev side to make them happen.

It took how many years to get something as simple as loadouts and a mounts tab....

People ask for complex things like a fashion tab or better way to store fashion, and all I do is laugh as I continue to fail to see a simple guild bank sort option, or a better option for stacking the 160 types if RP.

I have reported bugs and asked for QoL changes. They aren't exclusive and probably aren't going to be implemented by the same devs. Beyond that, a large number of the bugs being reported are impacting people's ability to play their characters or even just not CtD every minute. It becomes less like an oil change and more like a broken serpentine belt...

Had some "free" time to watch last Stream, it was said that we will be getting the bank sort button "in the nearest build".

    So...

QoL updates are both the simplest in terms of listing out but some of the hardest to implement. Instead of starting from scratch, they typically involve tweaking, readjusting, or demolishing an existing aspect of the game. That means tracking down the original source (including original designer if available!), going over the game design docs, and scoping what changes can be made that won't impact other areas of the game. Adding more people resources to the game helps in one way (more hands!) but also adds another voice that might reflect an opinion we hadn't thought of before.

It's one of the reasons our QoL wish list never gets any shorter. By the time we've addressed one, 2 more have popped up due to the living nature of the game.

I think what they are saying is that in the grand scheme of things in order of priority it goes: new modules, exploit fixes, bug fixes then QoL fixes. Some of it is from dev time and some of it knowing the general public's play patterns.

    a couple of little things

1.bring back flashing cursor in the chat text field
    2. make the upgrade guard post requester in RD behave like the inventory or invoke reward windows ; when you move the window disappears
    3. a tone down in luminosity of accumulated effects/ animations etc. in mob fights.. it has really become a blinding clusterhamster of epic proportions

Appreciate your comment Julia, thanks for taking the time.

We get that you guys are busy with developing new content to keep the game afloat and deliver what players want.
It's hard to not notice some of the QOL things being steadily added to the game in the past months - Lodouts are just amazing!

Adding the things like sort buttons for the bank does not seem to be really challenging, especially if Jules (sorry if I misspelled the name...) said it will be on the near future release.

QOL, can we buy a wand from the zen store one day soon that can identify all, or better yet, as soon as one reaches level 70 all items no longer require identification and can stack to 99--green gear.
...and maybe an option to buy a utility pet in the zen store that automatically collects loot. :D

Oh and an option to simply toggle off the items stored in the bank so that they no longer appear on our drop down list of RPs in our inventory and that the scroll bar remains where it was last used--constantly scrolling down after every 5 refinements seems unecessary for a game thats main focus is item feeding.

The problem with QoL fixes is that they are subjective - just as an example, earlgreybeard make a request 3. a tone down in luminosity of accumulated effects/ animations etc. in mob fights.. it has really become a blinding clusterhamster of epic proportions. Personally I freaken LOVE the clusterhamster of epicness this gives the game....I would not want this changed at all.

Bugs though effect everyone equally so these IMO should be fixed first and QoL fixes added gradually once agreed by a CAB of sorts. Just my thoughts to show how we all have different thoughts...

The problem with QoL fixes is that they are subjective

This is a huge consideration. There are QoL requests that lots of players will chime in their +1 on, and ones that apparently don't bother anybody but you. So you make a thread, see if it garners any interest, and hope for the best.

Another factor is that a lot of people think their idea "would be so easy to do" while potentially having very little understanding of what it would actually take to implement, or how many other things it would break, etc.

QoL changes can be really minor (expanding the profession bag again), or as major as adding the Stable or Loadouts. Adding a button to existing UI would fall somewhere in the middle.

Also consider the game development cycle. Even if your suggestion is brilliant and they decide to act on it, you may not see results for several modules, because that's the soonest that it can fit into a build.

linoge63, apologies if you already know this but if you select the bottom most item from the drop down menu, it remembers to start at the bottom for the next click. Obviously this is only useful if you are only feeding from the bottom.

But what ads? Do you mean the lockbox announcements? PC also has ads embedded in the "launchpad" UI (shown only once when you start the game client, not again if you don't call them up) and in the Zen shop UI itself. The UI ones don't seem excessive to me.

I've also seen someone refer to the event tracker as an ad, which I feel is a bit of a stretch.

Give an example of what is being advertised please. This will help.

Yeah you have to clarify what you mean by "Ads" this game doesn't really advertise much outside of it's own shops... or in-game lottery winners...

The constant administration notices in center screen i.E. Joe blow won this, jane doe won that._._._great but why do paying customers have zero options but to put up with constant administration notices in center screen ?

Why do vip 12 customers get endless administration notices? I get it that freeloaders need to see the administration notices of hey you can win something also just buy key ?
But why bother vip 12 customer?

Oh, ok. So no real issue then.

    Thanks for clarifying!

Development for modules is roughly based on:

Core Module: New content, story, large features, etc.
Half Module: QoL, specific gameplay aspect updates (PvP, Guilds)

For the Core modules, we can never list out what we are working on too much ahead of time due to licensing deals (For example M12 and the coordinated Stream of Annihilation event). For the half modules, the final list of what will be released gets updated a lot before we ship it to preview (Just last week I was set to announce some stuff going into Preview on Friday but Thursday night at 11pm our systems designer asked us to hold because he found something big enough that made him not want to ship it).
