Make Black ice Gear Great Again

Hello Cryptic, please add some way for us to level, refine, upgrade Black Ice gear, since we still have to collect black ice for quest, i have like 555,999 black ice and i'd like to put it to use please...

    You can use the black ice gear to Elementally empower your elven, drow, dragonflight and lionsmane gear. You can also use it to purchase the Black ice belt/neck (100k ice each) and sell those on the AH. Mod 10 is coming so we will like see new gear there as well that will be able to be empowered, black ice could well play a larger role in mod 10 since the mod will take place in IWD.

    I really hated the mod 3 empower with black ice mechanic and i am glad they took it out.

    i really liked the look of black ice and the fact i could be used for PVP and PVE and i'd like to see it stay as it but rise in power due to refinement or upgradability, i know of what you mention but i end up with a different product and not black ice gear. thinking in terms of a wizard or any class or even a black ice forgemaster you'd be looking for someway to increase the product of your forge ..just saying... hope it returns more powerful in Mod 10.

    Make Overload Enchants with Black Ice is one possible use.

    Also the new stuff made with it is fairly good upgrades. You just have to be persistent in the SH PVP to get the banners for it. Try on Saturdays. I seem to get many more runs then.

    Maybe it'll get another tier with Storm King? Can anyone else see Legendary quality Armor being brought into the mix?

    I doubt it with the the master work stuff still the best gear to get and 85% of the player base not being able to make it our afford it.

    The concept of Black Ice Gear never really worked to be honest. The idea of having a tweener was solid on paper, but apart from a few certain builds I think people preferred pure PVE and PVP sets.

    I'd also be careful what I wish for. Game is already grindy a hell and I personally am not looking forward to add Black Ice to the daily things you need to obtain...

    If I had to name a purpose for Black Ice, I'd let people craft PVP only enchantments with it.

    I would use BI gear now if it was at all relevant, as mentioned above am sure they will address all BI concerns, including bring back BI MH/OH and maybe a Black Ice Dracolich to boot :)

    please make those gauntlets drop more often, dont know why they are way too hard to get since they are outdated and not as good for lvl 60, and completely junk for those are 70 lvls.
    need to finish "armor collecting set".

    Buy them from the Urgus? 8000 BI.

    yeah, you can buy other items, except the gauntlets, it is a drop reward, and it is completely random.
    that RNG is way too mean to the point of giving up or quit playing.

    Nope, they were added to store with Underdark. It was in the patch notes. I even included the price for you.

    Are we talking arm armor or profession asset gauntlet?

    my bet based on his posts, armor - yes it's obtainable via vendor since a patch or two.

    on droprate of heroics - got 2-3 while doing them with my gf as she needed it for fashion purposes and they did not drop for her. my guess - a bit under 5%

    Pure -> Transcendent Plague Fire weapon enchantment giving 80damge/20 seconds for 500k+ AD is a joke.

    It wasn't the best set, but the nice thing is that it was a good and obtainable set to use as a stepping stone. I used BI gear set to run T2s while trying to get my T2 set back in the day.
    But now I think Drowcraft gear kind of fills that role, so I dunno.

    they could make this the set for PWE people who want to get a PVP set, boost the stats and make it run on black ice as usual and make it onpar with the siege PVP gear

    Read: you would need to use black ice to keep it on par with Siege PVP set.

    -either farm PVP siege for a set stats set
    -or farm black ice to get a set that has to be managed with it to keep its stats.

    dunno if that would work, just throwing raw ideas around, feel free to refine.

    I've always both loved and hated gear deterioration in MMOs. On the one hand, it means you're always on a never ending quest to either repair or replace your gear. On the other hand, it means you're on a neverending quest to repair or replace your gear and so is everyone else. That means, you can't just buy your way to BiS and sit there, it means you either need to fund or grind constantly to maintain that peek. The way I see it, not just black ice, but ALL gear of (say) ilvl 135 or greater should require some mechanic to remain at that level. Perhaps a standard ilvl of 120 for best gear that's boosted in some way, maybe black ice since that mechanic is in the game already, maybe something else.

    I hated having a black ice addiction... and when I kicked that habit after M6, I felt free. Still. All things considered, for an MMO it was a good mechanic to have in the game.

    wow, didnt know they redid gauntlets, just now completed a set, but no longer had other pieces, since they were salvaged almost a year ago, making room for newer sets and more junks devs added. so, i fed last one to mimic "Chester".
    thank you for answers.
    my GF was on guantlets hunt for months until i gave up, and just few months ago, i played my OP on his first quest in icewind pass, and got his on first time.

    Seeing as Demo added a new way to earn an Arti MH/OH set am guessing they might do the same with the BI MH/OH, unless of course their new tier dungeon is eDV.
