It probably would have been better to wait until the patch notes were ready to post to avoid speculation.
Big changes are needed to bring in some balance. I just hope that a massive nerf to bring one thing into line isn't going to have some big unintentional effects on classes that currently struggle.
Guys, it's getting nerfed, no doubt about it. Or getting fixed, if you want to look at it that way.
As part of the class balance changes, you can't actually balance the classes if something so outrageous as the Lostmauth set exists.
I can only hope that they just make it do exactly what it says it's suppose to do...an extra weapon damage hit on crits. That will likely make it a 3-5% damage boost, which is much more inline with what it should be. It'll still be BiS for most STR/DEX classes, which is right where it should be.
And once they know that the Lostmauth set bonus isn't going to be a defining part of someone's damage, then they can better achieve balance. Every high end player is getting 20-30% of their damage (at least) from the Lostmauth set bonus...there's no way you can reliably balance classes or even content around that aspect.
They don't need to make this harder than it is. They don't need to take another huge risk and "rework" the set bonus. It just simply needs to do what it says it's going to do, and leave it at that.
And with that, I'm sure we'll see hundreds of "I quit!" posts and threads pop up...and no one actually quit over it.
It's just how these things go.
@ironzerg79 its time to rename your guide to "support" is the best CC since your CW is about to do "death" less than any class with the exception of an OP and when you comparing a CW's dps to the wonder kid of pug carriers, why on earth would you take it for dps?
aw sharp, are you going to have to change the way that you play? perhaps pick up that arcane/owlbear based build that someone posted in Ironserg's thread and try something different? I know you test a lot of stuff, and i respect that, but your world is not coming to an end and CWs still will deal respectable damage without lostmauth, regardless of the the fact that the lostmauth change is not being made alone. So please, calm down until we see patch notes, and then stay calm until we can test them
That owlbear stuff is complete bs and I have tested it already...long before he posted it
Under any other circumstances I would take it seriously - but ladies and gentleman, its April 1st.
They said it's not an April Fools prank in the blog itself.
Changes were also referenced in the State of the Game letter long before today. As I said earlier, not everything posted on April 1 is automatically a prank or joke. When Cryptic has gone for an April Fools' joke in the past, it's always been something reeeeeeeeally outlandish and obvious, like the ability to actually play as a dragon.

Them saying that the next mod is about an invasion of mutant teddy bears and robot dinosaurs would be an April 1st joke, not just a regular post about balance changes.
As with anything related to this game most changes are nerfs of some sort but with the balances they do I for 1 hope it all works out ok....
This is no different then a lockbox after all 99% chance nothing u really need or want. 1% chance it just what u been waiting for.
lol cant wait to get home from work and see what happens when they post to test. worst case i will feed elol set to whatever set i buy to replace it any way...so no worries either way.

If this is not an April fools joke lets just put the lostmauth "fix" into perspective from the point of view of my main which is a CW. Let's start, umm lets say a year ago just before Mod 6. My CW was a non standard SS hybrid dps/control build. Why control in Mod 5 and not pure dps, well it was because I puged a lot and you don't always get optimal groups in a pug so the extra control sometimes made the difference between a win or a loss in dungeon runs. Then Mod 6 happened... lots of stuff wasn't right. First thing i noticed was that even in a pure control spec the amount of control was pointless cause it didn't last long enough and my mage was pretty much dead once the mobs could not be control anymore, i.e. powers on cooling down. At this point I discovered Ironzergs build, so i dropped my control focus build (still had some but not much) and went mostly with dps. It was a good build and worked with well rounded groups, if I went pug it was pointless. Anyway then the nerf to storm spell happened (June of last year), what surprised me the most about this nerf was how the CW community rallied and realized that maybe it wasn't such a bad thing because storm spell was over performing especially with those that had lostmauth set. The nerf did open other doors, I run a MoF hybrid build (mostly renegade) that does great in groups and good enough solo. Ok with that nerf to storm spell we had to have the lostmauth set to maintian a respectable amount of dps. I begrudgingly (i didn't like the belt and still don't) bought the set which costed an arm and a leg at this point. Now with lostmauth set, I needed to stack more crit. So, I looked at my rank 8 and 9 radiants in my offense slots and realized they had to go. In August of last year I started building brutal enchantments and I now have 2 or 3 of them at rank 12 and the rest at rank 11 waiting for more AD to upgrade. My legendary pet is the Priestess of Sehanine Moonbow, why did I go with her instead of say the Zhent warlock, well becuase of her Moonbeams ability (give the group 0.5% per level increase in critical strike, thats a 20% crit increase for the entire group). Was this an optimal pet, no, but because of her crit ability worked very well with lostmauth set it made sense to use her with bonding rune stones. Ok to the points:
1 Year After Mod 6 lostmauth "fix" considerations
1. Didn't need or want the lostmauth set prior to mod 6. 2. Spent millions of AD to go with a more crit focused build because of the lostmauth set. 3. I did spend real cash also to get the Priestess(and other minor things), which was part of a bundle, because I do like this game and like to supporting the developers and the gaming company once in awhile (we all got to eat). 4. The time associated with becoming an above average player, (almost 3 years into this game and still not BiS). Which I was prior to MoD 6 and which I am now.
So what does it mean to me if lostmauth set gets "fixed" or put inline with the way its supposed to function? Well, what I want the developers and people supporting this change to understand is that the cost associated with the changing the lostmauth set is a whole lot more than just the cost of the artifact set itself. If done right I will happily drop my lostmauth set and adapt, if done wrong i.e. I have to change everything about my current build to remain viable then will be unhappy with the "fix". Am I concerned, you bet I am. What I am not is looking for with this fix is compensation (things change I get this), I just want it to be done thoughtfully with a fully informed audience.
Thanks for reading my two cents and my opinion, take it for what it is.
I don't believe it got killed, now you have to pay a bit more of atention instead of just clicking 1 during a T2 run while you watch a movie. About the Lostmauth set it was obviously that needed to get toned down and is good for the game, but they could let me know about that before the last 2xRp a few weeks ago that I decided to get one for my SW. My sad SW will never recover from the M6 debacle, now they will nerf the Lost set and the AP gain from cleric to make harder to keep up the TT so again the SW get nerfed but this time indirectly =/.
eLoL doesnt mean epic lair of lostmounth, it mean "evil Laugh out Loud", i am just laughing, with evil taunting loud laugh, it echoing in the halls forever.....
Noooo. Oh well. Using that set was super fun while it lasted.
I got another horn drop today in eLoL. Priced it well to unload it. I expect the horn prices to drop a bit on the AH. Though the set will probably still be the best for dps.

1. It's a game !
2. No one changed anything yet.
3. Even when they do, it's still a bloody game, nothing more.

Surely they didn't feel the pressing need to post this and get a new build out to preview on a Friday.

i,e, , " I'm using this set for better CC because I'm a control wizard" while everyone knows CC does jack anywhere that matters.
