Yeah, one thing I never really got was why an MMO would stress solo play so much. I will admit, I am still without a guild and play 95% of the time solo (GWF), but I feel I am missing out on great part of the MMO experience by doing so.
Another game I played it was common place for a "squishy" class to be in an area doing quests and randomly squad up wih others in the area to help each other get things done. But here, the 'possibility' of solo play is stressed so much that doesn't seem to happen.

Drop me a note on live if you are looking for a home we are a pretty nutty small group of mature gamers and are in it for giggles, epeen merchants would not feel at home with us :)

Hi. I started playing about 3 weeks ago. I have one character and he is a swordsman paragon Guardian Fighter. Currently I am at level 67 but have soloed the common cause dungeons since around 62.

It was rough at 1st at level 62. I had no wheel of elements so I relied heavily on my cleric companion, potions, Tamara coin, my daily where my attacks heal me, and invocation consumable to stay buffed and healed. In between mobs I would pop an altar to regeneration health faster for the next fight.

Besides my Mulhorand Sword and shield I have no artifact equipment. Every couple of levels I redo my gear and buy only blue equipment for my level. I make sure my armor pen and critical are over 1kish then stack up on deflect because for me deflect seems to work well.

As I got higher up in levels (up to 67 now) it has gotten significantly easier. I save my wheel of elements power I have now in case I need it while my health steal daily is cooling down.

I try to block most of the mobs special attacks with my shield and stab them or bash them while it is up and use the GF'S crowd control encounters to stun and push the mobs I don't want to kill 1st off of me to "control" the herd.

The mobs I focus on 1st to kill are always the archers cause if they root you then the pack will get a bunch of free hits in. The other ones don't seem to be too much of a nuisance cause their special attacks seem pretty easy to counter for me.

Just my experience with it. Hope it helps.

No. I sell blue items and lvl 5 enchantments in the AH. Any blue item I sell and they go quick cause I sell cheap. Also, I always make sure I do daily dungeon and siege runs as well as both PvP types daily cause your first run in each is a boosted amount of AD. Most of my AD is made from AH and I use Astral diamond exchange for zen to buy lockbox keys to sell what is in it if I don't need it.The lock boxes can be hit or miss but when you hit it is good profit. Also if I can't keep my AH full and I am fixing to get off I buy horses for 5 gold each and sell for around 1k AD. I pick up all green items and identify them to sell to NPC for extra easy coin. I run a wheel of elements and shopkeeper artifacts so I can sell stuff on the spot.

In utility I run level 7 Tamara enchant a level 7 salvage and level 7 radiant in PVE suit for added profits and items

My first horse and only horse I got was from collecting Tamara coins during the Tamara event as well. I wanted my first horse to be not normal

I don't understand what this has to do with the Tyranny campaign and/or ruining it. From what you've written I assume you feel that it's difficult to solo certain things yet many solo so it's hard to find help when you want it? I found it was a bit difficult to solo at Lv61 or so when you first get to Drowned but it gets easier once you gear up. If you thought it was bad, it gets much worse when you try to roll into Dead Ring as a new Lv70 for the first time lol Very frustrating but yeah, eventually you power up enough that you can manage solo.

it is supposed to be a challenge- I get it... it was hard for my Ranger to get thru alot of it unscathed, but once I fanally got all my artifacts up to purple, and got my enchantments up to 8s and 9s- it became "do-able"... quite the grind to make it thru though. Other classes have a much more difficult time, I witness it daily -and something should be done to alleviate this:
and the answer shouldnt be : "leach off an epic player to make it thru".
-now we have another issue- the DEVs have made the T1 and T2 dungeons so hard for anyone except the elite- and only a few classes have that possiblilty, so- we are "forced" to run with 2 bubble palys and a haste cleric to even attempt a success, or we are reduced to "glitching" the boss in some dungeons- Im sure thats not what the DEVs had in mind for us to do.
the test on this must have been done in god mode on GWFs that are all 2500 IS or above - thats the only logical way that "they" made it thru, and said "its good!"- but its not... not for 80%+ of your players.

Ill say it again: when we got our butts handed to us trying to complete Castle Never- it was humbling and showed us that techniques were to be used, and that it could be done though... challenging and dificult, but "do-able" and made you feel like an EPIC player...
this version of "Epic" dungeons just seems insulting, and there is nobody completing these normally now.. you have to make that "special" group so you can glitch it and hope that they will allow you to leach off of thier efforts- not what the designers were looking for Im sure

-so I see a "nefing" coming for the Paladin in the future... but dont do it!!! it will KILL the advancement of 80% of your players
and we know what that will do-so...
=or maybe, just maybe, you could take away the "one shot" thing and maybe take down a few of those "regular" bad guys that somehow have more HP than the dragon in neverdeath graveyard- it gets monotinous to kill ALL but that one guy, that lasts for a full minute after the rest of the mobb is dead, and we slowly kill him off= I have killed dragons in less time than some of these just regular old mobb guys.
Almost killing us, but we made it thru- is im sure what you were looking for (may have to pick someone up) - its more exciting, and gives the player a sense of accomplishment- a acknowledgement of your worth
One-shot kill everyone in the party at the 3rd basic group in SpiderQueen is what we have tho...
-I have been in SQ 20+ times that the party tries right there 3-4 times and they all leave- even players with much higher IS than me just leave dissapointed with nothing,. and a few $$ kits less than where you started...
-I AM sure that this is not what the DEVs were tring to accomplish- say it aint so Joe...
    * and you HAVE to do something good for the Scourge Warlock class to make them vaiable again- seriously

I have beaten each Epic dungeon with my core guild group: My HR, Healing DC, SW, GWF, GF. We have no need for bubbles and hastes. So the dungeons are not "un-beatable unless you have paladins and haste". You just need to find a good group to run with.

Also, I never really had a problem with running my campaign quests including Ghost Story. First time at level 28, I did not expect them to be at lvl 71, so I died. But once I hit level 63 I could breeze through it. So your comment, "it is supposed to be a challenge- I get it... it was hard for my Ranger to get thru alot of it unscathed, but once I fanally got all my artifacts up to purple, and got my enchantments up to 8s and 9s- it became "do-able"... " is kind of a shock to me since I am also a HR.

Yep beating t2s, no double pally or whatever
  • myfist2yourfacemyfist2yourface Member Posts: 96 Arc User
    a clarification:
I have run many without bubbles ect... and glitched the boss, even though I would like to try to beat it with many of the groups I end up with.. most are glitching. people are popping in and out of your instance looking for that "peferct group" that contains- guess who usually,. after a few of those the game no longer looks for people to fill your group ect...
Im sure you see wants for BBPs and the like in chat too- nothing new...
-yep- Ghost Stories was my bane early on too, and I still had to help a few of my guildies thru it until recently!
finally a solo success- only died twice, but made it- I was ready to go help...
    - and that makes the point again: once you get a few pieces of the alliance ect./ a few runes up to 8+ and a few boons under your belt- it becomes "do-able" for most... YEAH!!
    - then we have the T2 dungeons... yeah. - a different creature
    - -and I cant help but to speculate that the "one shot" problem stems from thier new AP bonus, and maybe it stacks - when its NOT supposed to be, or something..
    - -or are we meant to be killed a few times on every run or something...
    - -I guess a synopsis of what I was referring to is:
    - get youself up and you can do most of the new conternt- even solo (yay!!!)
-but dungeons have an issue with most people attemptimg them
    a) theres a 1 shot problem
    B) some of the "normal" NPCs have more hit points than dragons
    C) and because of this; there are these strange groups that are "having" to be formed to complete it
(for MOST- I know your an epic gamer that can solo it naked, but- the other people

-My HRs "doable" in Ghost stories was like yours- epic dungeons was after the ups (8+s and purples ect...)
I got a few under my belt early, but didnt do well until purped out...
-I guess they didnt want the epic player to make a breeze out of it- but that leaves the rest to be below par... usually

    - I dont even realy mind the "take 3 minutes to kill a guy" - as bad as the one-shot thing
    - -just a concept on the "high HP guys"- does it seem correct that they would somehow have 100 times your HP??
    - -are they "that" epic-"dragonesque"- seems like another adventuring party- why wouldnt we be somewhat equal??
    - - then you see its a few noob lookin guys and a chick- but they have 100X your HP/ and can one shot you
    - but you cant even 25 shot them X5 players (so 125 hits vs. ONE- each!
    - does this seem akward or out of place to anyone else...??

    Hi Kat!

I hope you're getting along well in the game.

Sharpassassin is right - you're not going to do much solo play in Mod6. The difficulty changes force you to play with others. This is even true for my HR, who I ran the times I grouped with your cleric.

While I understand that you enjoy solo, if you get together with a good group, it adds a lot of extra value to the experience. I play each day with Zita, Talador, Kevian and JT, along with other members of the new guild.

I'm sure that there are still a lot of good players for you to team up with in Guardians. Give it a try some time. Make some friends who are on at the same time as you and start a regular group.

Your satisfaction with the game will increase dramatically, while you will also be helping your guild mates that you team up with.

    Everyone will win!

    Take care!

(edit - referred to kriptical1 by mistake)

Hey man, I think you have me confused with someone else. I've only got a CW. Planning on doing a cleric someday because artifact..but meh, I played a Cleric in EQ and while a blast, the days of me healing are over...particularly in a game where I can't target team mates with Alt+ Number!

    Guardians?

I have no problems with grouping, in fact with the right people its quite enjoyable..but with three mods of daily's to do this time around its more trouble than its worth trying to form teams in each respective area. No clue what todays update holds, hopefully things will be a little more convenient.

Kat is TheApostle - the edit where I said I referred to you by mistake was when I referred to Sharpassasin :-)
