Doesn't that only chart those that play thru steam? I would imagine that number is getting small considering the payment issues and the fact that there is no point to using an additional frontend.
How do you install Neverwinter without Arc? I'd love to get rid of ARC and just have the game.
Keep Arc but don't sign in to log into NW. Just go to your NW folder and locate the .exe file and copy that to desktop as a shortcut. You can launch NW from that as I do because running Arc in the background sucks up resources on my PC. Arc is useful to have when Cryptic do giveaways/promos.

I can say that last night in my Guild/TeamSpeak was the busiest, outside of a few events/parties (yes we party in TS, check our our Guild name! lol), in a looooooooong time...
And to be blunt, it was:
Is the game perfect? Far from it, but Strongholds is most definitely a step forward.
For those who don't like it, their Guilds aren't responing well, you might want to look for new digs...
I think people are liking it so far, and that's a great thing considering the last few mods.
I find it terribly boring because there's no new story at all, just "oh look a stronghold, let's take care of it"
Ironically the 5 unnamed people in there (claric, builder, ranger, etc) have more personality than most of the Characters we've seen in the whole game before. I love it

My problem too, this should be a fantasy DnD game, not a FPS, story needed, in fact in RL a DM couldn't hold a session of PnP game without any kind of story, hack n' slash isn't DnD.
Game was so cool until Mod 6, we had normal gameplay, which was enjoyable for all, not just a minority and we had a nice storyline, while leveling up, now not a single line of DnD lore.
And sadly content is recycled, shows little fantasy from designers, the map comes from another game, the monsters from low level maps and only some have a " new painted skin".

Boring...Protector Enclave is More Deserted than ever...dungeons are HARDER then ever and well pvp is ...the only thing that is remotely funny.... is time to look elsewhere to another game?

What are you talking about? Plenty of players LOVE hack and slash in a tabletop game. Right now I'm running a game on sundays that's basically nothing but killing monsters and taking their stuff, mixed in with a bit of puzzle solving. It's wildly popular with my players.
That being said, hack-n'-slash (the hyphens make it not profane, apparently?) is not Forgotten Realms, which is a higher burden, and is also what Cryptic has licensed, so I agree with your underlying point.
Anyway, as to the topic: the thing that's pleased me the most is that you're able to buy the new resources on the AH. All the complaints about how PvE guilds can't get the +aBillion power building? Invalid! Because they can just buy that HAMSTER off the AH.
Of course, I'd advise people to wait until prices drop first.
I have to admit I tried to play after SH came out, but it is the same ol HAMSTER nothing has changed. Can't even bring myself to log in for leadership anymore... Game is just well BORING.

Amen Brotha! One hell of a fun time that feels just right for a guild (like ours) that know how to have fun while grinding it out. The mod was made for guilds that "win or lose...still booze"!
Honestly I thought I was going to ignore this mod Strongholds, cos I'm a solo player... Then I saw they introduced those boons, specially +15% crit severity, so now I'm "FORCED" to find a guild and play with them... sigh
Well they can put all the boons they want, even give Chuck Norris as a companion, i still refuse a guild just to do content that should be available to everyone in the first place.
Don't want it, never needed it in any MMO, and ive played quite alot.
I got 2 strongholds.. DR and Sharandar, looks like im bound there forever.. but its okay once artifacts are max lvl its buh bye.
At least some form of accomplishment :-)

Lots of us are coming from tabletop games, rpgs or games like Neverwinter 1-2, Baldur's gate and enjoy the rpg aspect beside h&slash and loved Forgotten Realms too.
NWO is unique because its the closest to it beside DDO.
I don't came from other popular MMOs like WoW, L2 etc and will never play 'em because not interested!
stock and stone I can master, but there's a Wizard to manage here!

Honestly, I feel like if you're into PnP, you should probably try things other than an MMO. Sword Coast Legends may end up being good. I don't know, it's not out yet, but WotC is heavily marketing it. By which I mean, it's mentioned in passing somewhere on their webpage.

I can't for the life of me understand why you don't play a single player rpg if you have no interest in playing with others. I've seen this attitude in many games now, and it never makes sense to me.

I can field that question.
Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I got into Neverwinter despite not much caring for MMOs, because it's the D&D IP game that existed at the time.
Now that Sword Coast Legends is coming out, I'll probably focus my energies on that. I was rather saddened that Neverwinter was an MMO, and not Neverwinter Nights 3, basically.
I was REALLY sad that it wasn't a game actually based on the 4E game engine. People complain about it being too video gamey, but it's the only edition to never actually have a computer game that reflects its rules set since 1st edition.

That makes sense sort of, however I've seen people say this in almost all mmo's including some like rift, which had no prexisting lore that I know of to draw people in. So while you may play for the lore of dnd, this doesn't explain the whole phenomenon.
Like so much of NW/PWE content lately ONLY intended for those players in a group who have the time and inclination to 'team play'... All well and good for those people who WANT to 'team play' or have the time and inclination to join a guild.
My career requires me to travel and as such there are times, often days, when I am unable to play. Particularly since the advent of Strongholds which seems to require almost constant tending, guilds participating in the Strongholds event pretty much REQUIRE every guild member to participate in Stronghold building efforts and prefer them to do so as often and as much as possible.
So far I have been removed from two guilds because I am unable to dedicate the time to constantly farm for supplies and hunt for opponents as those who seem to have little better to do in their lives than to spend hours playing Neverwinter, and the game has only been online for two days!
HEY Cryptic/PWE... how about some more content for people who aren't in a guild or don't so often have the opportunity find a suitable party to venture with?!?
Some areas where players can still solo and still get half-way decent rewards and gear?
You and I are in the same guild. But i think your problem is your play time, you need to find another guild. At the time you play, there's barely people online, i know because sometimes i play at this time, but last night we did 2 dragons runs fully killed with 38 people online at that time,i had no problem to get some t1/etos done on all my toons, now i dont PvP so for this part i cant tell.
My best advice is to find a guild that fits your online time before saying everything is boring
Erf DC , Harsh cw, Eole trapper, Eloe gwf, Eorsh GF, Oleo OP
Mod 7 is good but the main problem about mod 7 is the timing ! following the big fail of mod 6 with no real PVE content and even a cut off in the content, the mod 7 with the guild focus content is something heavy to swallow because it's another grind with no new "challenging" dungeons or skirmish as the mod 6 was.
If the mod 7 was in between two good PVE mod the story will be different.
So i like the mod 7 but it's a really bad timing to launch it, if the mod 8 is not a super heavy giga PVE focused mod with new dungeons and innovations in my opinion they will lost a big part of actual players.
I got 2 strongholds.. DR and Sharandar, looks like im bound there forever.. but its okay once artifacts are max lvl its buh bye.

You really play the game just to grind artifacts? I thought I was a disenchanted player, but I can't compare to that!
