Tankodin & eToS

This is something I've only been experiencing since the last patch.

When I block the orange beam, it can cut through my 119k life, 50-60k temporary life and Divine Protector. This happens 1-2 times minimum per attempt. Most of the time it doesn't even get through my life and Sanctuary. Then, all of a sudden, wham. It cuts through Divine Protect like it wasn't even there. 1 shotted.

I am trying to determine if this is a latency issue, even though I hadn't been experiencing any latency or lag to that point, or if it is a bug introduced by the patch.

More than once I've been caught with very little life remaining, no temporary hit points and Divine Protector down . . . and survived. So I am at a loss . . .

You should report it as a bug.

Oh, and when you do: try not to use really silly made-up words like "tankodin" - it's incredibly adolescent-sounding. Use proper terminology and describe step-by-step what's happening, what you are doing, and what the result is so they can try to replicate the problem. Include screenshots or video if you can.

That's how bugs get fixed. (If and when they choose to fix them).

    (Edit to add screenshot/video mention)

We've been bitching about it in the bug forums. It affects EVERYONE, not just tanks. It's less noticeable on non-tank classes because they don't have our defense and most of them their dodge mechanic is just straight up damage ignore. But my suspicion on what is happening is, because mobs in Epic dungeons have Armor Penetration, and because they can crit, when the mob crits their Armor Penetration is being multiplied to either at or over 100%. End result, you see stupid high damage numbers and none of your defenses working. It's getting worse to.

This is what is making people believe critters hit too hard in t2 dungeons, and think everything one shots. It also only affects epic dungeons and it's this is my best guess as to why. This random death HAMSTER needs to be fixed and if you want to throw your voice on the fire, then post about it here. More voices we can get on it and figuring out what the hell it is, maybe the sooner Cryptic will see this is a problem.

I'm not sure if championshewolf is right, but its a sound explanation for why it doesn't always happen.

It happens on trash when they have combat advantage most of all, which feeds into the idea of it being ArP getting multiplied as well wiping out defence away.

I posted this to the bugs forum with an excerpt from my combat log where you can see DP giving me more than 100% damage from an attack. So its possible DP is bugged or involved in the bug as well.

A whole lot of other Obsidian toons as well.

It's the best I can think of because it's only in epic dungeons that this damage bug occurs. And unless Armor Penetration is tagged correctly, if it takes defense into the negatives it starts multiplying damage, which would also explain why you would see these 300k to 500k+ hits.

Even when garakas is throwning spikes to a partymember hè is immum but you Will get the damage.
This is all for party members "stay out of special attacks from bosses in you dont you kill the optank"

It's not Divine Protector. This is a bug that affects everyone. Non-tanks notice it less because they don't generally have super high defense. Even Guardian Fighters are saying they are being affected by this, so no, it's not divine protector causing this because this is a one shot that hits the paladin directly.

I'll chime in and confirm here that it happens to non-tanks too. I run an Oath of Devotion Oathbound Paladin, who frequently doubles as a tank/healer in ELOL runs. I often tank one of the scorpions, using Shield of Faith and the buff from my Holy Avenger (which might not even work, I know. Parsing incoming!) The first Claw attack of a Scorpion - which I probably should dodge, but I'm not the quickest - always, *ALWAYS* one-shots me for rediculous amounts. I'm talking a 300-400k hit here. I'll Soulforge, and once I get up, I recast Shield of Faith and the Holy Avenger triggers as well, as death resets the ICD it seems, and I'll comfortably face tank those claws.

Those changes in numbers also have nothing to do with other buffs/debuffs my team throws my way. It's standard practice. It happens weither or not I have more buffs or the Scorpion has debuffs, meaning I could've dodged everything and the Scorpion has been fully debuffed and I'd be standing in Hallowed Ground + Empowered Astral Shield and I'd still get ganked. Soulforge and everything returns to normal.

Sadly, I can't always keep logs of my dungeon runs. Prism + Burning Guidance creates a silly stream of info that has to be recorded. Yesterday, myself and a Protector Paladin managed to crash one of our teammates parsing the game for us. It's just too much for the combatlog to handle.
