[BUG] unexpected result of using zone completer tokens

agnaethaagnaetha Member Posts: 14 Arc User
Yes, I gave up on trying to complete Sharandar Dread Ring, and Ice Wind yet again with yet another toon.

I have noticed that when one opts to use a zone completer token some functions in the zone tend to vanish.

Example Sharandar: The free boss dungeon key in each of the sub-zones are not available. I had been buying keys since there was no free key option showing in the gimp window. Recently, I was standing at the entrance to Celedain's sans key and the gimp was not showing any option for a free one. I joined a party with another toon and behold (!) the option for a free key suddenly appeared. I received the key and the window changed to state another key would be available in xx hours/minutes. I came back, solo, the next day some 36 hours later... no free key option an I haven't had one since. I don't believe there is any other location to access the free key other than the gimps at the various entrances. Yes I have gone to the other zones and no key offered there either.

Example Dread Ring: The introduction of Thayan Servitor equipment came with Mod6. The view zone rewards states Dell McCourt is the source for "buying" the gear with scripts etc. For me Dell's pop-up window shows a View Zone rewards option and a goodbye option. There is no "store" option. I realized that I can access that store through the Campaign Window that does have a store button so it is at least accessible (unlike the free key option above). But the Zone Rewards pop-up on the equipment states Dell McCourt and offers no other avenue for opening the store.

Example Ice Wind Dale: In the zone rewards gear pop-ups we are directed to (forget the name) the Forge leader, Battlehammer(?), to learn about how to "fuse" gear for improvement. His pop-up dialog window offers no option to learn the process. For me all he offers is an opportunity to "view" the various old gear; a informational discussion on the perils of black ice; and a goodbye.

I have forced verified the files 3x under a GM's directions, nothing has changed for any issues.

It seems to me that using a completer token for a zone turns off some functions (or doesn't complete the access flags needed to provide a pathway to the functions). In the past that was probably no big deal as one would pay to complete the zone and essentially be done with it; reap the boons and move on to another zone to improve the character. But with Mod6 these zones have become essential battlefields to continue story lines and improve gear.

So, now this is very frustrating, pay $50 to $150 (per toon!!) complete the zone(s) and reap boons; access to free keys and stores is cut off or and essential information lost. So working in these zones becomes frustrating, less enjoyable, incomplete and more expensive in terms of access (keys, etc.) therefore less likely to call me back to play another day (read that as spend more money).

One has to have a mini dungeon quest active, in order to get a key from one of the leprechauns. Complete the three quests in either, the blighted grove, the realm of Malabog, etc., get a mini dungeon quest, accept and hide it. Get a key from one of the 'gimps' (leprechauns x.x) then go into a different dungeon. Do not complete the one you are using to get keys. If you have no access to the mini dungeon quests, see if a friend can share the quest i.e. 'The tower of Celadaine' or 'root of the problem' / 'trouble brewing', with you.

I bought the token, too and it does work for me. But i did the quest cycle to get a key at least once, prior to activating the campaign completion token. Not sure about the Dread ring and IWD token, but my guess is, if you would have completed the quest cycle at least once, you'd be able to do the inaccessible quests.

Anyways, i hope your problem(s) will get resolved.

I'm pretty sure that Dell McCourt does not show equipment to anyone. All my characters have to access the DR store through the campaign window -- so that is not a result of using a campaign completion token.

Thanks, that worked in Sharandar. I'll wait and see about the others... Now why couldn't a GM tell me this?

Gamemasters are only human... while i'm a Martian. o:)

Regarding the IWD issue: Try to do the quest line that is needed to get to the 'forge quest' with a friend or guildmate, who has not used an IWD campaign token. I have no clue if these quests can be shared but if they can be shared, this should solve your problem.

Regarding the Dread ring issue: If the problem is not being able to access the store through the NPC, then the answer is simple. It can currently only be accessed via the campaign window, as Dorkstarcrash already stated. It is a known bug that has not been fixed yet. If you are unable to take the daily mini dungeon quest(s), try to do the quest line that is needed to get to the dungeon quests, with a friend or guildmate who has not used a Dread ring campaign token.
