And it was the most fun I have had in the game to date. I quickly learned I had no chance to solo the mobs in IWD. I am a 70 Paladin with Greens and Blues. Less than 1600 Item score. After a few quick deaths I found a hunter to team up with. We had a blast trying to complete our dailies. I had to keep moving and alternating my powers in between checking on my new friend to make sure she didn't grab agro. It was a blast. Sometimes we killed the 5 mobs and collected our trinkets need for the quest we were working on, sometimes we wiped and started over. We both had a great time with the challenge.

yes but that is kinda sad....how do you earn the gear
I did in the arena but is not god enough for epic DDs...
So we need some intermediate areas
Keep in mind that the new areas are not giving the gear needed to be successful in the old upper areas
And neither are the old (now level 71+) areas

I took my level 65 paladin into Mithral Mines the other day; I expected to get killed often.... did not even come close, but it also was not easy. Fighting just one golem took a minute - literally a full minute, at least. THAT was the level of challenge I had hoped for in this module.... something that can be solo'd , but is not a cakewalk. Some things are like that, and that level of solo challenge is a LOT of fun. It's when the challenge becomes "beat your head on the wall, then when you're done, beat it some more" that the fun goes away.
died as a paladin, LOL + why the hell you are running in greens when u can but blues for 200~300 AD ?
how do you manage to do that ? last time i managed to die as a paladin(in solo content) when i pulled full 5man HE - 3 dragonwing archers, 3gwf types and a ton of the little HAMSTER that transform, and had the wrong encounter setup, with correct encounter setup i cleared it

I have a story: One time...in band camp, I spent money on this game. Then I stuck a flute...
Yup, its as if we bought what we thought was a home (with our attention, time and for many, money) but instead it was a hotel room, and mod 6 was checkout day.

When the patch hits next week (hopefully), they are adding level 70 gear to sharandar and dread ring stores. They are 120 ilevel a piece. Right now they tend to be a little expensive, 100 sparks + other currency for per sharandar piece for example.. but that gives solo players an option. Also a stepping stone to do dungeons... but for the cost and slight upgrade to T1, I would just buy blues and find/make a team to do the dungeon.

Thanks for that post - good information for those that think the game is impossible and don't want to heed the "try harder" advice some of us are giving.

Eh, my personal solution thus far has been "wait harder" and not even touch the 60+ pileup until the game's out of the sickbed again. Yay for having a new class to level!

Yeah....the rush at beating a hard challenge the first time is often pretty cool. So after fighting so hard to overcome this what did you get out of it as a reward? Some more green gear? A few tokens toward some gear? Oh....so now you go get to do it again. Well that will probably be nearly as fun. Great...a few more tokens. Okay...let's do it again. Another token. How close am I to getting something that will make this seem worthwhile? Another 15 runs to get some gear. Okay. I guess I can do that. (15 runs later). Yay! I have 1 piece of gear. Only 9 more to go and I'm still wiping almost as much as before....
Hopefully you can see the issue. And, if not, good for you in that you are one of the folks who finds this kind of gameplay engaging.

Great story... I am happy to see that some choose to see the greatness that lies within.
There are times when I have run around with some of my guildies and had a lot of fun... but not because we died... it was the companionship. Sometimes I run around with a couple of CW or another TR or even a under-geared OP... it makes the game for me.

The reason why people don't want to heed this 'advice' is because it's smug, epeen-stroking bull-pucky.

Come on now, don't break your arm patting yourself on the back. Honestly though, most of that hasn't been advice, but ridicule and arrogance. A good portion of it boils down to "stop crying and l2p, pathetic weaklings." I do congratulate the ones that stopped long enough to say, "this is what we found out after doing it, here's what we recommend."

and the other side is just a bunch of ppl "i dont want to learnt to play my class, build my character, i want to run in greens, instead of buying blues for 200 ad, and want to facetank everything even in cloth armor" there are only a few classes with a legit reason to complain about difficulty
its not normal when dungeons that drop best gear can be soloed. its not normal when characters are immortal, its not normal when everybody can run the hardest content without any strategy, skill and teamwork

We don't need to rehash this argument, I have heard both sides and agree partially with both. There needs to be compromise and it needs to meet in the middle. Both sides are only selfishly focused on their own wants, you need to give as much as you want to take. "Your" side needs to bend a little on the difficulty stance, and do it without the sneering imperialist/arrogant elitist condensation. "Their" side needs to whine and cry less, and look closer at how those that are doing it are succeeding.
Everyone needs to realize that as players, we are not each others' enemies. If you need a villain, look to the company that produced the current rift in our community.
