Maces, again? Really? But it's such a simple fix... :<

Oh yay, ice transmutes from CTA, great, maybe I can pick up an ice sword for my Pala- Oh. We get a renamed DC holy symbol doubled as a mace. Seriously? How much feedback did you get about maces and them not being wanted? That's a Cleric weapon and even Clerics try to ditch them most of the time via racial proficiency or the War domain. Paladins have martial weapon proficiency! They use swords! Sometimes lances for mounted Paladins! Not freaking maces! Look at this:

A Paladin in Hell, one of the most iconic Paladin images in D&D. Look what he's using there. That's right, a longsword.

Here's Alhandra, the iconic 3E Paladin, with her longsword:

Here's the 4E class image. Look, another longsword:

The 5E PHB cuts off half the Paladin image, but the full version reveals that he's weilding, yep, a longsword:

Other than the occasional Dwarf Paladin with an axe, a google image search for D&D Paladin is going to come up overwhelmingly with longsword-wielding Paladins.

So why, WHY, do we keep getting ugly maces that don't even look like maces because they're taken from DC holy symbols and slightly edited? :< My OP's god is Corellon. Corellon's weapon is a longsword. My OP also has a bit of a winter theme going. An ice longsword would be perfect beyond reason. But no, no this isn't a thing. *cries*

But Cryptic, I have a fix for you! It's so easy! In fact it's already in place on the vast majority of shields in this game!

All you have to do to make us longsword lovers happy is the same thing you already do for green/blue armor and shields: Flag the GF Longsword transmutes for OP. That's it. No new items need to be created, no new art, just a flag that x class can use this.

Actually while you're at it, for the OP maces that aren't copies of DC transmutes, flag those for DC! Maces are iconic... For Clerics. :P

Meanwhile, I want an ice longsword. :< Cryptic plz.

Yes, I am aware there are approximately three longsword transmutes available for OP. A couple of those even aren't hideous. But they're not the *ice* longsword I want, and they cost an obscene amount of AD to transmute to. *grumples* I want my ice longsword. ;~;

    well, the iconic Cleric used to have a mace and use it too .. now they just carry symbols. I suppose they wanted the classic 'battle priest' look.

    Common misconception; perhaps from your point of view through paintings, artwork, comics, books, whatever. I've been playing PnP D&D since the very beginning (in the '70's) and "Paladin always = sword" is a misnomer.

    As for what Cryptic has done with Paladins and Mace: I was 'uncomfortable' also, until I got used to it. Now I actually prefer it. There's something about bashing a head in over the cliche slice-n-dice. So it comes down to: try to cut the opponent or break his head. I'll take the latter, myself.

    While stationed in Europe back in my Army days I had the wonderful opportunity to experience medieval weapons and how to use them and I must say that for close-quarters combat the mace can't be beat. It's easier to use, good-n-heavy, and knocks your opponent down (or at the least: it can really daze him) - which gives you opportunity to pummel him into complete submission. I found that swords are a give-and-take, teet-for-tat change of blows that can only do damage when they actually cut or stab. In the real world: Mace wins.

    But I digress.

    As for your complaint about the Neverwinter game avatar: use the transmute option, There you go: solution to your apparent difficulty.
