The far scryers in spinward rise - I like the idea. It's a telescope, looking down, spying on areas across the sword coast.
The images you see in them are hilariously bad. Grainy low res still pictures, obviously a 2d sprite scrolling around, and YOU CAN SEE THE BORDERS OF THE IMAGE. The one of PE looks like a bad scan of the box art for the game. These cannot be what you intended as the final product. Surely, I am hoping beyond hope, these were placeholders that got skipped and forgotten about and managed to make it into the final release. They are soooo bad. I was upset at how low quality it was. The game, say what you will about re-use of maps or decisions made on stats and gear, looks pretty good. The images in those far scryers look awful and amateurish. PLEASE I am begging you replace those assets with some decent renders!

Actually, and I hate to say anything nice about MOd 6, but I really appreciated the low-res quality of the farscryers... and the windchimes sort of effect.. it is VERY reminiscent of Myst.
I thought it was fine. It reminded me of Myst too. Plus this is a magical world, they don't necessarily have science. So yeah, blurry image would fall into a fantasy world just fine.
Did I mention YOU CAN SEE THE BORDERS OF THE IMAGES? Like looking thru a tube and somebody is moving a picture around on the other end and you can see the frame the picture is mounted in. Sure, whatever, they wanted it to look cruddy because it's low quality optics - but I'm not going to look thru an ancient arcane telescope thing and see PE and see a square corner with white outside of it.
I actually liked it too. Haven't played MYST but understood the effect they were trying to achieve. Having worked in undergraduate biology laboratories (think cheap, dirty microscopes) it felt like home.

YMMV.

I actually like it; it's like looking through a smeary lens, and it takes a minute to figure out what area of the Sword Coast is being represented.
