Blue Dragonwings have a shield that they raise, which makes them immune to damage for a while, (I think you can damage them if you attack from behind them).

Shoot a nuke at a Blue Dragonwing with his shields up and he'll laugh at you. Aim your Thorns behind him for the sneak attack.
