Outleveling the Quests?

lordsarveriouslordsarverious Member Posts: 160 Arc User
My question is if you can actually out-level an area and no longer be able to do the questlines. I am in Pirate Skyhold and cannot find any new quests. I hate that it says I have only two more to finish the area too.

Not exactly. When you out-level an area, the quests are still there, but the quest markers over the NPCs disappear. You can do a google search to try to find the one's you missed, or go back and talk to every NPC that you can find. If you can find the name of the quests, someone may be able to tell which NPC you need to find.

Not sure if this is exactly the same on Xbox but I use this to make sure I hit all the quests.

I took all the data and put into excel and now I check a box after I complete for each of my characters.

thanks Zephyriah and Draven. I will definitely look up the quests. I will head back to the skypirate islands and kick some more butt. Then I'll continue on the way they wanted me too. I was going to skip the Icespire to make sure that didn't happen again. Guess now I can enjoy them all. I'll be 60 by the time I finish the Chasm more than likely, or maybe the Rothe Valley.

Unless you use an experience gain scroll, you will more than likely never out-level the quests. In fact, you are more likely to fall behind on one or two occasions. Skyhold is huge so there are likely quests you may not have picked up or completed.

Also, you can start quests in the next zone without being the minimum recommended level (I think you can be up to two levels below the minimum).

I had some azure enchantments giving me like 10% or more exp bonus. I was doing all of the daily things from Rhix, and the ToD quests.

Ah, I see. Well, maybe consider moving on to the next zone. PvP is a good way to bridge a leveling gap if you need to.

Also, these are minor and kind of insignificant, but mobs sometimes drop items that will grant quests.

I purchased the Warlock Booster Pack and, from the the Adventures Helper Pack I received with it, I got a 10% exp Boost item. I was able to complete, what I thought was all the quests, in the Tower District and hit Level 20 by the time I got the quests to go talk to Sgt. Crox (misspelled on purpose) for the next zone, however. Being that this is my second character, I remember at least 2-3 more quests being available and I barely hit level 18 leaving that zone and hit 20 halfway through the next.

Long story short, the Class Booster packs didn't seem all that worth it, with the exception of the rare quality companion and bag slot item. Otherwise, the BoC blues are quickly replaced by Level 18, which made $30 worth of ZEN seem pretty pointless. Further, the exp boost item I received was nice, but I feel like there were 2-3 quests I missed out on.

I'll probably just stick to the Heirloom Pack at this point since it will be beneficial for all classes I play till at least level 50.

I out leveled the quests easily with doing the dragon campaign as well and this has happened to me on the same area. I wouldn't be bothered but there are acheivements for the final quest on each area. Guess I'll have to go back and talk to everyone.

Unless you made the same race and class for you second character, you may not have missed anything.

There are race specific quests as well as class specific quests. The maps that these are on varies per questline.

You're probably right, however. I've leveled, now, a total of three classes and two different races in that zone (Tower District):

    Drow GWF
    Sun Elf TR
    Sun Elf SW

None of these classes/races had one of those special race/class quests in there. For some reason, I just remember one or two more "Kill ABC Enemy Type" quests, but it is possible that I leveled through that area so quickly the last two times that I'm thinking of another zone. Oh well. Can't really complain too much about faster leveling.

There are Elf (Do not remember if all elves, half, or sun/moon) specific quests in the tower district. There might be TR quests (my least played class) and I think Drow in Blacklake. There is either GF or GWF (maybe both) in tower.

This is not always true - (Of course it could be by now - I'll explain) *some* zones will not offer all quests. This happened to me on my third Wizard: Too much XP through invoking then I finally went to play... Velosk and Ice Spire Peak - only the Boss instance quests were available, nothing else. never death and nothing for me.

To be fair this was around the time of Mod 1, so they may have fixed some (hopefully all) of this. But at the time I experienced it: you could *definitely* outlived a zone. And yes, I know about the NPCs having quests without the ! indicator and all that stuff. At the time: no-go. My recommendation: try to stay at least within ten levels of your current XP level, then you should be okay.

I just finished Pirates' Stronhold by having to check with NPCs. They do have the quest even if they don't show the exclamation mark. The NPCs that might have the quest will have their name in yellow. I'm on to Icepeak now as only the very first quest to "check in" triggered, I had to talk to Vaile Birchsmith by the catapult to get the next quests.
This really sucks, I always like to overlevel on RPGs to make things a little easier for myself and I don't understand why they have done this.

(XB1 doesn't have Moon Elves, however. Sun, Moon and Wood Elves all have the same racial quests)

    And for GF/GWF

So, with that said, regarding the Elves quest, I had previously already completed it on my first Sun Elf and probably didn't realize that it was a race specific quest, picking up again on my SW Sun Elf.

In that case, I didn't miss anything. Good to know!
