I really like this game and so far almost everything the devs have done has been pretty cool and acceptable. However they really dropped the ball when it came to the 4th dragon boon. I mean seriously, the only way to get Haarl's Treatise on Dragonkind is to do endless Skirmish Shores of Tuern and hope it's in a chest, or buy it which takes weeks or longer to accumulate the requirements. Either way you are stuck doing the same thing over and over and over. BORING and FRUSTRATING! It could seriously undermine any enjoyment of actually accomplishing something. Rant over, back to endless skirmishing.

Don't worry, this is not the most boring/frustrating thing in game.

You are stuck in other mmos way of getting things. Here is best to just collect what you get, sell and buy what you need. Now there are things like BI gloves (good thing DT came) or Lathander artifact that cant be bought... but the rest can!
As books go, do yourself a favor and buy them from ah, they are just as rare as an artifact...
Ah, so much hate from people who are STILL PLAYING the game lol.
Since none of the high-end stuff (boons, temple gear, or refined artifacts and enchants) is even remotely needed to play anything except PvP, it makes perfect sense that people would find even extremely annoying progression mechanics less than a game breaker.
Yeah the boon grind tied to an rng drop really bothers me as well. I look at boons as a form of leveling. Having your leveling tied to rng sucks. I don't know any other way to state that.

It is not tied to RNG. You can get this in 10 days via dailies from the different zones just like other boons. They gave people a chance to bypass the dailies as an RNG drop, but this is not tied to RNG and unlike other boons, you can actually buy this one(assuming you have enough lore).
Which you won't have. And I don't know how you do your math, but there's no way in hell you can get a boon in 10 days with just playing. There's not enough rewards per day to get it done in a month. And if you, as a designer, want people to take about a month per boon, you'd do it the Dread Ring way. Not being forced to spend AD on unlocking other zones on the way there, no BS. Just do the work you're expected to do and get the reward. That's how it works. Or should work at any rate.
I think he's talking about getting enough sigils and scrolls from the ToD dailies (via the original zone dailies and the ToD dailies) to buy one of the books in ten days. Which sounds about right.

That's really working it. IDK if you'd have enough currency though, 70 pages of lore IDK if can be done in 10 days. 2 weeks maybe, with the additional weeklies.
IDK I saw 3 haarls in about 150+ runs of sot/esot. 2 from boss, 1 from chest. Ive never seen a breyers, gave in and just bought off AH for its minor increase, but just want to be done with all ToD before MoD6 on my main.

While you progressed during the ToD campaign, you should have a lot of accumulated when you did the dailies. Once you have unlocked LoL, you should have enough lore (but usually not enough sigil/scrolls until ToD map came out). It used to take about a month to get the boons prior to the ToD map, but once that came out, it takes less than 2 weeks. Overall, it is a lot easier/faster to get than Sharandar last boons...
For the sake of completion, grind all the Sigils/Secrets/Linus required to unlock all 7 TOD boons on my main toon (never bought a single book/coffer/empire treasure from AH in the process).
Do I want to do this again? No... So I'm pretty much confined to a 1 toon person cause I certainly don't want to go through the same grind again.
I do get that there is a grind aspect of the game, and maybe many of you are that much more gameplay refined than I, and that's not my being fascitious, but; the feeling of grind can only spawn in my awareness if and only if my attention if focused on end game results (refinement drops etc)
The feeling I want to extract which is equal to if not more rewarding than potent RPs dropping is the feeling i gain from a well executed encounter wherein i can lick my prey's blood from my daggers with a self applauding wolfish grin afterwards. Equal to that, is what I gain in insight from the results. There are so many variables that arise from each encounter that one can reflect upon in order to refine ones hunting and executing tactics that rarely does the focus of grind appear.
Part of the post encounter digestion of the experience for me includes the aspect of taking my prey's meat (loot) and feeding it to my equipment. This aspect extends the refinement i gained from tactics and execution wise from the encounter in addition to the inner reward i feel from a non messed up encounter to include my hardware. Thus, I gain the experience of reinement per encounter both in software and hardware modes.
But, that game play enjoyment is interupted when i face having to intelligently treat green meat as trash...if green meat (loot) costs me more to process than the gain i obtain then the game itself is motivating us to litter the ground we enjoy playing on with bright neon litter bags.
Also, one is urged from a game immersion point of view to NOT engage targets....for they will only end having you deal with the trash(green) element which unless our character has an anti-nature element, we wont want to "litter".
Lets end the idiocy of having to ID at least greens already especially if our entity is level 60.

Rule #1: Grind, grind, grind.
Rule #2: Ridiculously low RNG chances solves any problem.

Anyhow, OP, just buy the book from the AH (and try to ignore the boons higher up where you need the Linu's Favors...)

There. Fixed that for you.
