Is there a reason to keep playing?

So. I did my first PVP tonight since mod 5 started, and I found that my entire build is now useless. Yes, I did an archery build instead of whatever melee build everyone seems to love so much.

Aimed shot is nerfed. Not just a little, but it's basically just another rapid shot, but it takes 4 seconds to channel. Then I tried killing Charthraxis in the Graveyard, and found that it's not just PVP that it got nerfed in. Since I'm an archery build, I can't just swap out skills and turn into a CC master; my grasping roots don't even do anything (I was a trapper build before I respecced like a month ago, and CC actually worked then).

So, now I'm looking at: I'm useless in PVP since I can't kill anything at all.

I'm not entirely useless in PVE, but my DPS has been cut by 75% on bosses and harder mobs.

I mean, I got my first artifact bow tonight... I haven't even refined it (I'm actually going to get a different one, anyway), but I don't even want to play. Why bother if PVP now consists of TR's one, two, and three-shotting everyone while invisible, and I can't do ANYTHING to kill anyone? PVE, my TR, my CW, everything else out-dd's my HR. My TR has a 7k GS and does so much more DPS than my HR, and my HR has a GS of 14.5k. I don't even have boons on my TR, I have most of them on my HR. And of course, my TR is useless because I went with a DPS build and not a permastealth build. >_> The only character I even remotely want to play is my DC, and she's only 57...

So, should I just delete all of my characters except my TR and my DC, and just roll a ton of TR's/DC's? Or is this going to be changed? I refuse to dump a bunch of money into a build I won't like after I just dumped a ton of money into my current build.

Eeeerrrr. Don´t know where to start.

Archer ranger with Royal Guard/Plaguefire should grant you Great Success at all dragons just by spamming Rain and Thorn (that´s what I used to play until tuesday this week). I even solo'ed Merothrax in 15 minutes once. This week I ran a few times eLoL/eSoT and my Archer guildies still do a crapton of damage. SWs usually outdamage them but they are far from useless.

Trapper works great with mobs if you slot both Constrictive and Hindering and focus on control/support. I can easily perma-root mob groups in eSoT so that full-DPS members of the party can burn them down with ease (everybody loves rooted Empowered Black Dragonclaws).

I don´t PvP so can´t comment there, but rangers for PvE are definitely good. The bad thing about archers is that they tend to be boring as what you do is mostly spamming Rain and Thorn and they do the job for you (solo'ed the Spellplague final boss from over 50% health just by spamming them and running/dodging). Aimed packs a lot of punch (I´m often critting for 120-130k on a debuffed target).

What is this nerf you speak of? I don't seem to recall anything in the last month's patch notes that make any mention of Aimed Shot being nerfed.

PvE-wise Archers are doing fine, well at least I am anyway. You cannot compare HR to TR before latest patch. Nothing could compete with TRs due to the SoD capstone bug. I'm running with Dread Legion 4p set with Golden Dragon bow and my damage output is looking good. Dunno what to tell you but if you don't enjoy playing a HR any longer for whatever reason, move along to your new shiny DC or TR.

PvP is a whole different kettle of fish. I wouldn't set foot inside domination as Archer. SniperX has been successful as an Archer in PvP but unless you are really skilled, you'll be in for a world of pain if you don't go Combat in PvP.
    Our pain is self chosen.

The most important thing in life is to be yourself. Unless you can be Batman. Always be Batman.

I have a 17k combat PvP HR. He does decent dmg in PvE, is fun in PvP and his free dodge saved more ppl in ESOT, than I can count.

My 18,6k CW (I refer to my CW, bc he has the best gear and the highest dps of my chars atm) has been outdpsed by good HRs multiple times, but most HRs dont bother with switching stances etc. standing on max range doing split shot and chasting some encounter powers on CD. They do mediocre dmg at best. If you are one of those, switch to another class.
Chars: CW, DC, GF, GWF, HR and TR.

I have an archer build and play a lot of PVP. I do alright. Four out of five times I'm at the top of the list.

TRs are apparently impervious to stuns now, so that just made fighting TRs a lot more difficult, especially since they stun the **** out of me with pretty much every other strike. Other than that, no problems. Just need to build your movement speed and stamina gain really high so you can dodge like mad. XD
