Mod 5 - Why anything but righteous DO?

Let me start with...I am NOT trying to troll.

After spending a decent amount of time on the Preview Server, why would you go any path besides Righteous? And why would you go AC over DO?

With Righteous DO you can be decent DPS while debuffing the mobs and Buffing and healing players to make things run faster.

Why bother with the other 2 trees? Where is the value?

I really have no idea why. For pvp maybe? Although I don't know if that would even work, I don't pvp.

For pve... I still meet plenty of people who think healing is a way to go for a cleric, despite the obvious facts. And the teams they run with usually are clueless as well, i.e. if they see green numbers flying, they think you are doing a great job, and that the run takes twice as long is because the dps has only 14k gs, lol.

In PvE heal is not really needed since all the dungeons are so ridiculously easy with the GS people are having today so yea righteous is the way to go.

For PvP tho righteous DC would make you very squishy, and is not as beneficial to the group as a heal DC in many situations.

I should have clarified PVE. I can totally see other builds in PVP.

From the comments in the Cleric Mod 5 Changes thread...just seemed like many were not going Righteous, but maybe they were PVP minded.

I agree with the OP, and I would guess so would the majority of other people. But there surely are people that want the immersion, playing the cleric role means healing is an important element, and yes I know this game has turned everyone into miracle healers (and lets not even go into the whole temp lock thing), but a D&D cleric is known for their healing and this is still supposed to be a D&D based game.

Oh there are roleplayers here, but my experience shows that plenty of people genuinely belive that the role of a cleric in a dungeon is healing. Which would be not surprising for newbies, but I see them in places like VT too.
    It makes me sad.

Pop them an astral seal. There pals, there's your healing:P

I see fewer and fewer ignoring astral shield when it's up. Even I ignore them lol. Back a year ago people would huddle in that circle for dear life but not anymore.

I wouldn't mind a classic healer, but, there's just too much solo content and the DC was weak at getting through it with efficiency. All the while you plow through T2s without a DC present.

I'm not sure what post are you referring to, or what doest it have to do with the topic.

Personally, I didn't use astral shield since mod 2 release, and I have astral seal on my tray only for testing purposes.

Righteous has an incredible talent to die in seconds on PvP due to the lack of survivability and control immunity.

Basically you have big damaging numbers and that's it. Just like an SW, you have no way to avoid being controlled or even control someone.

    Yup.

lol at needing heals in PVE.

You realize that you can AFK on the Tiamat right?

You don't need any builds in PVE. Just play whatever and afk and have fun.

Glad I got my artifact seal from that and are done. But, with loads of lifesteal that fire of the gods will make em stupidly tough.

I'm actually thinking to go with the Faithful tree. As to whether I go Divine Oracle or not I am still undecided. My existing level 60 DC will respec into DO/Righteous for sure.

other pathes doesn't give u control resist...
I understand the tank faithful healer might be good build for pvp, especially if you like to support your party (like before tenacity, I guess)
I was hoping to do some kills now

    Always preferred AC over DO!

Loved annointed army/blessing of battle buffs!

DO have to be pretty good buffer now to make me change!

i didn't change my AC as well, the difference is not big and i kind of happy with BoB and its feat
i took righteous path and BoB feat

i didn't play on preview, so i don't know how it was
    but
    we are deadly in PVP
once you drop the astral shield with 3 stacks its game over
    divinity gain is very nice
and damage over time allow you to actually double kill without steal

in PVE i didn't find my rotation yet. but almost every rotation i do is better then before
healing is bit harder i think. might go for bastion of health even in some situations

overall DC gameplay is very complex and fun now

    many thanks
