I think this is where my confusion came from. it did cross my mind he could vanish.
I also thought since he was pretty much needed to purchase the top prize boxes that he would stick around or they would add the option to the other NPC or something.
Nah, they want people to pay zen for the extra medals they need, I see why they did it now.

its a good idea to turn moonstone mask into some sort of event merchants. But everyone shud know by now that maint always happens on thursdays, regardless of events. Nothing surprising about that.

As others have stated, the event vendor is still there; the defense supplies guy was an event quest.
Just like with Midsummer Festival -- where the woman who traded flower petals for event items disappeared with the end of the event, while a store persisted on the dais in PE.
I guess they should have had the defense supplies person in the siege area, to make it more obvious people needed to finish their turn-ins before the event ended.
The woman who trades flower petals at the midsummer Festival never moves or disappears. We simply can not access that zone until the zone re-appears on our map. If we could access that zone, she would still be in the same location. She has not left us. We have left her because our map no longer permits us to enter that area.
The event vendor, who is located in the siege area, is still there, in the siege area. We simply can not access that area at this time.
The defense supplies person was located in protector's enclave and he instantly disappeared when the event ended. When I logged in after maintenance, I saw that both event NPC's were still in protector's enclave. I assumed they would both be in Protector's Enclave for another week or so.
Does not make sense to me that the Defense supplies person suddenly disappears when the event ends, yet the event vendor stays. They should either both suddenly disappear (because the event ends), or neither disappear (because they are both located in protector's enclave and not in the event area).
I was thinking too that supply transactions would be done with the merchant. I hope you are right and at the very least they will be usable in the future and not just disappear like so much stuff this far.
Give us 4 or more power/item bar profiles so we can change powers and items with one click that are suited for the situation.
Look at it this way, they saved you from the almost certain disappointment of another turn in getting the bottom reward.
Assume when the events end, the events end and there will be no more NPCs from said event. This way, you wont be disappointed. I got up early, turned in my defense supplies for the lowest tier reward, sold the remained on the AH for 4k each and havent worried since.
The defense supply NPC was a quest giver from the event which has ended. You needed to accept the quest to turn in what you had gathered and open his reward chest. The confusion comes from his location and the fact that in past event the vendor was the only quest giver and they would stick around but not offer new quest or allow you to turn in your completed quest once the event was over.
Should he be brought back? Not my place to say, I still have a character that has a bunch of quest that Elminster sent him on, some to turn in, others he needs to complete.
They must have thought that some (obviously many) people would have defense supplies left or professions running. Why Pee off your player base?
The end of the event was clearly announced. Why ask for a prolongation ?

Even though I managed to (just seconds before maintenance) turn in all my Supplies, I still would like to see the turn in mechanic for the Supplies to return and be placed on the Event Vendor on the Dias. I would also be upset if I could not have turned them all in or still had professions in progress.
The Siege event finished when I was destroying catapults and I got shot out to PE.
But I have 9 bags of Defence Supplies and 14 characters crafting new ones, but there is no where to exchange them so that I can get 2 Medals and 50 insignia. I also have 14 characters with too few insignia to spend.
So, is there anywhere I can exchange these supplies or do I have to keep them until next year?
Or will they just clog up my inventory until next year, and then get deleted when the new event starts?
Let's see, ya spend up to the last minutes grinding out dragons then discover you can no longer turn in. That kinda sucks.
Ya only need 1 more defense supply and yer crafter has an hour to go before the event. Ya get the last one ya need for a reward pack and.... npc is gone.... This case in particular for the "sorry, events over so F off" crowd.
Any number of situations that a players efforts in grinding to the end turn into a pointless endeavour. I particularly feel for any player that was saving up these so they could grind to the last minute then turn in all at once.
Very luckily for me, none of these cases happened. I got extremely lucky and on the final hour turned in just enough for one last reward pack and managed to pull the medic. So no /whining from me here, but full agreement that being allowed to turn in is separate than farming for event materials. When the event ends, of course we should no longer be able to farm (save the crafting timers), yet a couple days for us to take stock and turn in what was grinded for definetly should be the norm.
I would like to think they would bring this npc back for a day or two, but I agree it's not likely to happen.
Now that world war 2 is over can we still buy US war savings bonds? ... Wait... actually I think we can.
Nevermind. The guy should probably have been left in for at least 24 hours. Would have helped some last minute peeps like the OP.

But, surely, that would be the very reason NOT to spend real-world cash on Zen?
A company would have to be very immature and inexperienced in the ways of customer service and customer retention to pull a stunt that treats the paying customers like a bunch of mugs who would fall for that.
Or, have a good deal of evidence that enough of their customers are absolute mugs who will fall for it; despite griping on the forums about it.
I'm keeping all my Defence Supplies in my Bank Vaults until a similar event comes up.
THAT is something worth buying Zen for:
Shared Bank Account Slots (I have the max allowed and would buy more if I could)
Personal Bank Slots (I have bought quite a few on two different characters)
Re-spec Tokens - you should get a free one when they radically alter a class, but you do not always get one
New Character Slot Tokens - 2 characters for 500 Zen - I bought 5 Tokens so far.
Account-Wide Mounts - 3500 Zen for a 110% Speed White Tiger. Lots-o-Fun racing people to a dungeon door and in PvP.
etc etc.
There is other stuff worth getting as well, in a Sale, such as Enchanted Keys, Coalescent Wards etc.
But I won't be buying anything to complete an event when I have 25 lots of Defence Supplies to turn in. That's 4 Medals and 100 Dragon Insignia right there. Plus one left over for 10 Insignia, IIRC.
I also still have a load of crafting items for the Summer Festival, as well as petals, fire blossoms, fire petals, buckets of water etc.
I would really like a word from akromatic or someone definitely in "the know" to say whether I should keep them or dump them.
Not that all of them can BE dumped...
Cheers!
One thing you can do is, if they can be posted in the auction house, post them for a really low amount (like 1 ad) and have a friend buy them or use a different account to buy them. Then just delete the mail before you take the attachment.

Sigh, so I'm throwing away 2k gold then?............
2000 gold? What on EARTH did you spend 2000 gold on? And why?
I put all my gold in my Bank Vault and had about 1600 gp, and then one character bought a few hundred Minor injury Kits. My 14 characters took out enough to keep them busy crafting for the whole week.
Now that world war 2 is over can we still buy US war savings bonds? ... Wait... actually I think we can.
Indeed. They just have different name now. Question is can we actually recieve Marshal Aid still... And I guess we can, but also with a different name...

You can't make me believe you did not understand this defense supplies guy wasn't a vendor.
It seems so easy to place your own faults on the game developers.

So.....
How hard are you going to kick yourself when Tiamat lays siege to the city and defense supplies and medals are needed once more?

Oh, I say... >80
That was a little rash.
But why did you stock-pile them anyway? I turned them in 12 at a time, so I ended up stuck with 9 and 14 to possibly 18 being crafted.
Ironically, I managed to start off all the professions and went to the skirmish and got kicked out half-way through.
But they ought to do a patch so that the vendor in PE will trade the supplies for Medals and Insignia - he trades Writs for bags of Insignia.
