What the Lag?

What is up with the constant lag spikes for the past couple of nights? Why does it seem to happen to some but not all people at the same time? Almost every single domination match, there is at least 1-3 people who are disconnected all at the same exact time. I have been on both ends of the lag in matches.. I have seen people who are obviously lag locked and unable to move and attack and their character is stuck in an awkward running position mid frame. This is getting really ridiculous and I can only imagine the effects this is having on the already dwindling population due to other recently released MMO's. What is going on? When is this going to be taken care of? If this is handled in the same timely manner they fix bugs, then this could be really bad news for this game.

It's the united states internet backbone. It's out of cryptics hands and it's effecting every mmo that has servers in the United States, including the one you are referencing, they're getting dc's too.

This is why we all need to support net neutrality. Don't let american corporate greed win. If you need more information use google.

I dunno, been doing tracerts to their patch server during the spikes and the connect between them and me is fine, even the cogent router maze doesn't seem to be making trouble. The nettest utility they recommend is completely unresponsive though. They had hardware they were working on yday during maint. It's not a stretch to figure that they need more time to work those hardware kinks out, hence the downtime 2moro too (and the continuing lag).

There is no reliability to be able to safely play a match without the chance of getting extreme lag spikes it seems..

I also am oddly able to have conversations with people through the party and zone chat.. and that is fine.. but everything else is just ****ed and skipping around.. I am also able to use any other internet site, etc.. while this stuff is going on.

I never cared for tracert because it's a single ping test. If you use something like pathping on windows or mtr on linux, you'll get a much better idea of what is going on as it'll send several pings out, you'll get to see spikes if it's inconsistent, and any packet loss. Even if you are only losing a couple percent of packets, that has a big effect on gameplay and you won't see that in a tracert.

I've been playing mmo's for about 10 years now, an I can count on one hand the times the lag was caused by the server. (Funny enough most of those were one game and not this one) The rest the time when I run a test I get either high ping or loss somewhere along my route.
