Elf Tribe Noble's Poniard

I received this from a heroic encounter in icewind dale as I'm sure by now many have, and I have to wonder why being that I'm a Warlock. The item is for a Rogue, bound to character so there is no point in receiving it as a drop. What's more, it has great stats (though not a set item) so it is heartbreaking to know that I can't pass this on to a fellow rogue or even to my alt rogue.
I ask, what's the point of getting bound class items for other classes from heroic encounters, given they are so rare as it is!?! Why not make drops like this usable by the class or not bound at all!
