One thing that helps is manage your aggro, if you are fighting with a smaller group and get aggro you are going to probably not only wreak havok everywhere but you will spend more time dodging and running avoiding getting hit than dealing damage.
You pretty much need to deal a good amount of damage to get great success and should be easy on a ranger. Rain of Arrows and split the sky might be good ranged options to get you there.
Otherwise fight dragons that don't have 20 people already on them, best way to get great success is in groups with less than 10 people fighting the dragon.

Dont even worry about aggro. if there are more than 5-6 people and your not getting great success now, you wont get aggro for long if you do at all. Just DPS hard. Damage is all that matters for HRs. What that dude really wants is you to not spin him in circles. Which is easy.
The dragons attack in a particular pattern, just watch each red area. He'll cycle through his attacks in a pretty consistent way, sometimes longer than others depending on how fast/slow hes dying. But the pattern pretty much remains the same. Each dragon is a little diff, but once youve fought them more than 2-3 times and youve been paying attention to his attack pattern youll be fine.
To get great success in a HE, you need to compete in one of the following categories :
- inflicting damage
- receiving damage
- healing damage
Choose one, be efficient and one of the bests in the HE and you'll have your great success. You will then have a slightly less ridiculously low chance at having some interesting loot.
As there seems to be some minimum score to get, if there's too many players competing, getting the great success can prove more difficult.

i simply wonder on what one should do to get that result, participating on the event for more minutes? doing more dmg? what?
Assuming its similar to IWD it will vary a bit but a combination of taking damage dealing damage and healing will do it ...
However if 20 people are doing the encounter odds are you wont' get it unless you started it with a smaller group and the zerg happened later in the fight.
On my characters that can take it, I stand in front of the dragons face melee it and take its hits, pretty much gets me great success everytime unless I showed up late and or there were 20 people from the start.
On my CW in HV set (a bit squishier) I just stand back outside of tail slap range and magic missile it to death with some CoI and RoE for good measure, occasionally running up to do steal time or IT. Typically I will use OF as my daily as the adds show up its a good opportunity to get some HIGH damage in as you are hitting multiple targets.
Other classes i'm not so sure on, aside from DC, as a DC I use forge master flame, AS and chains with flame strike and divine armor as dailies. I use my companion as well as my companion is always getting hit and well healing my companion in addition to players just seems to get me in the top tier rewards lol.
Again none of this matters if you are in overly large groups killing dragons in 30 seconds ... best group size is around 5 - 7 people at the start, if you can keep that group size until the dragon is down to about 75% or less health you should probably get the great success reward.
Tanks and GWF should stop running around like chickens with their heads cut off, they are going to get best rewards if they take damage, but it seems most are content with running in circles anad frankly the ones doing that deserve to get nothing but garbage. However if you want to do it right, stand there and take the hits, especially GF who should be able to block most damage and then hit the dragon with anvil and lunging strike and enforced threat, moving only to get out of breath attacks although i'm pretty sure a GF with shield up can stand right there in it and lunging strike right back into position ... that much damage should guarantee great success from a GF.
Now GWF might be a bit different, still needs to take the hits but don't stand in the pools of gas and acid, take the melee hits and pop unstoppable every other hit and you should also do quite well. Again if you run around sprinting every time the dragon looks at you don't expect any type of reward, if things get hairy run out kill some adds and jump back on dragon, maybe even save someone that is swarmed by adds, all damage done in the area the dragon is counts so disposing of adds boosts damage output.
