Returning player with a few GF questions

Hey guys.

Returning player that only played up some through Sharandar (the beginning of the first xpac) and I know alot has changed, and will be changing regarding GF's coming up in the future but there used to be some awesome resources to refresh a players memory such as links to building out (with rolls and abilities) your characters as you level up, are there any updated ones or any recommendations on the best way to build up a GF as you're leveling? I'm interested in tanking, there's a ton of new information and builds I know, and I've been reading alot of threads, though I see alot mentioned about conqueror compared to tactician and I'm basically wondering which spec is best for tanking that is also going to be good for solo leveling and any recommendations on building and stats/abilities on the way up?

Hi myth.
All or at least most of build guides except the most recent that you will find here in baracks are obsolete.

if you are interested in tanking use common sense and your logic.Choose protector path and swordmaster paragon.
Invest in defensive stats and try to use them in best way.i mean if you have 12% deflect is so low that adding more will benefit you less.Invest in more defense or hp for example.Etc

As for stats try to put con up to 22 then invest in streangth/dexterity. Thes hust from my point of view.

I guess I had another question, I see another of threads debating iron vanguard vs swordmaster is there a huge difference for guardian fighters in tanking?

Swordmasters are going to do a lot more single target damage in the upcoming Module. Swordmasters also have a class feature that makes them immune to damage for a few seconds when using a daily power. GFs build AP very fast so they can use their dailies frequently, this means a Swordmaster can become very tanky as he'll be immune often.

Iron Vanguards have better control powers and deal more AOE damage. They also have more mobility due to their at-will, Threatening Rush.

I myself have always been an Iron Vanguard but I think Swordmaster may become the better tank when Module 4 comes out because it deals more single target damage and because of a class feature it is tankier.
