still more or less blind on large encounters

Hi,
I am still unable to see the enemies around me when I participate in large encounters.
My wife's PC shows them, though she has a much older GFX card and only a c2d where I have a i5.

Which setting would I have to reduce to see the enemies, e.g. beholder, again?
Any suggestions appreciated. Max objects is 1 already.

As it is currently there is not much fun in those encounters.

if you set the character detail distance farther then you probably should see more people / mobs, usually works for me

My friend's got top PC and the enemies and allies still disappear on his screen on large HEs.
