The new contribution system is ****ing random at epic encounters both in icewind dale and dwarven valley and unfair for people with not super gear score as they are excluded from good rewards cause of their lack to do more dmg , than the good geared ones..
Does anyone knows if main hand drops from major too encounters not only from the 4 big ones?

So the mainhand drops in Icewind Pass too? I got mine from the Beholder in Dwarven Valley. Does anyone know if the bracers can drop in Dwarven Valley or just Icewind Pass?
Neverwinter players are stubborn things....until you strip them down to bone. (Cursed players, my flowers, MINE!) Oh how I plotted their demise.
Ive fought a lot of the epic encounters and the only main hand Ive gotten (the cleric one when Im a GF go figure) dropped from the beholder in dwarven valley. When my guild group and I fought it one of our gwfs died and had to run back. He did not get as good of rewards at the rest of us. So I dont think its a damage % done that effects your rewards (since I do very low damage as a prot GF) its how long youre there and how well you do

I know during preview people were getting the Bracers from the Black Ice Beholder there. I've gotten my Bracers from the Remorhaz and then of course the Orb at Rescue the Prospectors.
I know someone else who got the Orb of the Elk Tribe from one of the Icewind Pass medium encounters as well.
Yeah, I'm not sure I'm a fan of the contribution system. Coming in late often means it's not worth coming in at all and people already well geared could potentially dominate the contribution rewards. I've been in some Remo fights where it seems like there was hardly any time for me to get real dps in. It overly rewards classes with spikey dps.
The longer the fight lasts, the more likely it is that I get the higher tier rewards. I always hope for a trickle of players coming into an event. So far I've got two bracers (no main hand) and elk tribe stuff for the wrong classes,
Anyone know if the elk tribes drops being cross class is working as intended?
Edit: Oh and one other comment as an HR. Since I'm specc'd range, I do the most damage at max range (which would allow me my most contribution), but I can't because of the phasing system. The more people in the fight, the closer I have to be to even see and target the boss. This just compounds the above problem of fights not lasting long enough to get good dps in.
I got only the Orb, but 4 times. It dropped 2 times from Prospector and 2 Times from Beholder. I've heard as well, that the main Hand only Drops in those two Encounter.
My HR got a Bow which is not used in Black Ice crafting. It is a bit better damage then my current weapon but would break a set and take my GS down 300.

Anyways, I doubt that the reward is determined by your healing/damage done. Two scenarios why: A friend and me were doing the raider HE with only 2 further players around. I had ACT running so I had track of DPS/Total Damage and Highest Spike damage. Both of us were ahead of the other participants in all aspects yet got an uncommon reward. Unfortunately I don't know about the reward of the other two guys. Also we were there first and during the entire battle. Second scenario: I was doing the Beholder one with some 10-15 guys fighting it alongside. I came in somewhat late (80-ish percent HP left) and had the nice invis Beholder bug. I died for good at around 20% and called it, watching the fight from my corpse. I had no ACT running but I'm sure in the total time the Beholder was up I got out-damaged by at least 80% of the players. Still, I received my second BI Mainhand.

That's interesting. My personal experience has seemed consistent with what I described above. When I'd get 25 raw black ice for instance it's when I'm late to the encounter or I recieved epics when the fights were slower and I had more time for dps.
I have heard (like said above) it keeps track of healing and damage taken as well to determine level of participation, but since I'm dps I'm supposed to avoid damage. Maybe I'll purposely take some more during fights.
How does ACT grab combat info from other players btw? Back when I used to raid in WoW--which supported plugins--damage reports could be unreliable unless we were syncing. Plus with the way players/enemies disappear it may not grab everyone.
I have no idea on how reliable it is and how exactly the data is streamed, sorry :-/ But it seems to work OK, I'd say. There were no instances that caught my attention.

I feel bad for getting the Orb since I never intended to work on the Black Ice Armor. Basically, I showed up at the Beholder spawn, spammed Ray of Enfeeblement and Magic Missile on it, got one shotted after it disappeared, someone rezzed me, then spammed a few more ROE when it reappeared.
Funny thing is the beholder disappeared again about half dead and people were just standing around, then the “Epic encounter complete” message popped up….and then I received a Black Ice Orb. If I could sell it to one of you I would. I think I’ll just keep it in the bank and maybe work on it later.
I think there are a lot of people under the mistaken impression that gloves/bracers and mainhands only drop from epic encounters. That is not true. They also drop from the major (3-5 person) encounters.

Absolutely correct.
I got my gloves from the corrupt wolf pack, after soloing the first half of it because nobody else bothered to show up. Died twice in the process, and well worth it.
I've found the main hand three times so far, twice in the Pass and once in the Dwarven Valley. None of them were from Epic HEs. The one in the Pass where you have to keep the prospectors alive dropped it twice a couple of weeks apart, and a random rescue the caged prospectors from the undead one in the Valley gave me the other one.
Well being that they're Bind on Pickup... anything that's dropping the wrong class items on the wrong characters is pretty pointless. So MUST be a bug.

I got it on my dc on my first epic. Btw it also takes into account the healing done.

Whereas my GWF got a BoE (yay!) non-Ice TR offhand mace.... which is weaker than my TR's lair-quality Dread Ring weapons. Hmm.
