We know everyone is really excited to finally play through Module 3 content, but we have a special announcement to make. Tyranny of Dragons will be the fourth module in Neverwinter and will release on August 14, 2014.

DRAGONS! HUZZAH! I am so excited! August cannot get here soon enough!!!
I am so glad to see that Neverwinter will continue to evolve and follow the timeline of the Realms, this is great! So very great, oh my, oh me oh my, my D&D nerd is showing.
As much as I like the frequency of new content, three month is awfully close with all the issues that are still lingering. GF and CW need a total revamp, there is the ArPen issue since ever, HR is announced to get another rework and TR its stealth nerf. And that's not counting all the minor issues with classes and content.
I would like to focus on current problems than another module in August.

It is a day before my birthday. Hopefully that means Mod 4 will include summer mimics, or at the very least Mod 5 The Mimic Moon will be announced shortly after mod 4 releases.

Funny how you say revamp and rework for GF, CW and HR but say "nerf" for the TR.

Sounds fun. I wonder when this will be up on preview. Does this mean we'll be getting dragons in the foundry as well?
Neverwinter players are stubborn things....until you strip them down to bone. (Cursed players, my flowers, MINE!) Oh how I plotted their demise.

he says nerf coz it's awful to see one guy handling ten others alone on a capture point.
eh guys, you forgot that DC need some rework too!

It sounds nice and all that, but I REALLY hope we don't need to grind Icewind Dale forever to be allowed to go there. I despise pointless grinding, so I will never be able to get to Icewind Dale in the first place. If they keep adding these ridiculous requirements, a lot of players will never be able to get to the new content.
Solution? Make boons account-wide, increase the level cap and set that as a new requirement for both Icewind Dale and this new zone, or both. Or at least use a GS only as the requirement. Anything but forcing us to grind forever just to be allowed in.

I have to agree with this , I love that new content is becoming more regular and whatnot but the game is plagued by so many long standing bugs and problems that need to be addressed and module 3 has just added a bunch more .
It's pretty clear, that due to the tie-ins, Cryptic had little say in the date. This is obviously something Hasbro is pushing. Announcing anything this early and with a hard target date is completely out of character for Cryptic. Let's hope they can meet this challenge.
Awesome, I like the idea of bringing tabletop and the MMO closely together.
I hope we'll get a new class or race, that'd be great!
Also, there really is people who expect a MMO to not have important bugs? I don't think I've ever played a MMO that doesn't have them, to me they're part of the business, not a good part, but I know it's going to be there.

I assume they've already been working on it. It has been a while since mod 2 to the release of mod 3. There are definitely a lot of issues that need to be fixed. I thought the game would die because icewind is awesome, but it's only short term. If we can get decent end game content for the new module it could keep the game interesting. Of course they really need to make things more bug free on release... If theres a new class that'd be awesome too. I'm glad I'm not forced to find a new game quite yet
WOW! This actually renewed some of my faith in you guys. Even if this mod is FAR from being done, I honestly think its good PR to post the next mod dates or atleast announce it, that way players know whats coming and roughly when so its not a guess at "whens mod 3" like we had with Mod 2....

I agree here as well! There are some pretty MAJOR issues that need fixing.
1) Class balance - mainly CW/GF (Fixing CW ARP would be a huge fix)
2) TR stealth redo is another major one...
Honestly, from a player perspective new content says to me "we care and are continuing to make new content" which makes me want to invest more time/money into the game. But at the same time, a BIGGER deterrent from me investing is not knowing if that investment will pay off. I.E. Will what I invest in be nerfed beyond fair?
Tenebrous Enchants were this way, Emblem was this way, You DEVs have a tendency to release things that are WAY OP, then when you balance them its OVER nerfed...
It makes me hesitant to invest time into anything in this game and certainly not $....
Recommendations for Success:
Get the classes laid out fairly close to what you want. Then release a statement saying that generally speaking things are where you want them to be with minor changes coming in the future. This way people wont get blasted with an awesome build/gear/class/items that get over-nerfed and feel ripped off...
Also for Mod 4: Give players access to ALL the gear for free, artifacts, enchants you name it. This way players can actually test everything... All u need is to create a feature where you can drag and drop from the collections page into your inventory, or an NPC you can buy anything from but only on the test shard...

"We’ll see parts of the story not only in the tabletop RPG, but in the organized play program, in the Neverwinter MMO, and in other outlets Perkins can’t talk about yet."
So it looks like this was announced before Mod 3 even hit. I hope they ramp up the DEV team for this! Sounds like alot is underway and apparently this is going to be 5e rules...

I was surprised to see how this was handled with Mod 3, you can grab 3 cyphers and 30 thayan scrolls with 6/7 daily invocations.
It's no where near a grind with this box, and the Onyx Fragments can be bought on the AH, with the 6k AD you get praying for this box, to get enough Vanguard Scrips.
As for how quickly the Neverwinter Team line up and roll out Modules, well played. Took me 4 months to secure my home, all paperwork considered. 3 Months for an entire Module is professional!
not rest in peace while not going to see a rogue in front, in stealth, to prevent the death of the group.
ps: good news.

I have to imagine a large part of putting together a new expansion is the lore, stories and places. Then of course, going back to Wizards to make sure everything is approved. If Wizards is going to start handing them the story content, I can imagine bringing the Modules to life will be much easier on Cryptic's part.
It's like running an adventure that you customized from a campaign setting, versus having to build your own from scratch.

If you want to go to Icewind Dale, you need three boons from either Sharandar or Dread Ring. That means grinding for at least two weeks pr character just to get there. How is that not a grind?
Now add the fact we are getting more classes. That means first taking it all the way up to lvl 60, then grinding for two weeks to get to Icewind Dale. After that, expect at least a week or two of grinding Icewind Dale, so you can finally go to the new area in Module 4. Are you trying to tell me that is fine with you? It would be fine with me if the boons were account-wide, but they are not. Heck, even if you want to go to Valindra's Tower or Malabog's Castle, you need to grind for days for each character. It's already a problem, but if they continue this trend, how many people will ever get to see the new areas in module 7 or 8? Module 10?
Not to mention they say they are introducing a new story in Module 4. That means they seem to finally understand that we don't want to grind for days for no purpose, so why force us to grind to access the new story? I just don't want the later modules to be exclusive for the hardcore fans who don't mind grinding for days. No matter how you see it, this is just a game, and when the game gets boring, a lot of us switch to a different one that's a lot more fun. I get enough boring chores offline. I don't need it in the game too.
I really hope the GF and CW classes will be fixed, that would be wonderful news.
As many said before, warlock is probably going to be the next class, due to the fact that we have a warlock NPC (Makos), meaning that they've been working on the mechanic for warlocks (as we can see in the intro sequence of Dread Ring).
I'd love to see traps that deal massive damage (not insta kill tho, that wouldn't be quite fair), they would actually make a rogue needed in a dungeon, it's nice feeling useful.
I also think it would be a good idea to offer a choice between new and old faces. Like many people, I also don't really enjoy playing a character I don't like looking at, and so far the new faces got quite a negative response in the forums (personally I am mostly bothered by male elvish faces), so it might be a good step for the mods to give us a choice between both types.
The deal is, the old faces are already created and programmed, so it's not like we're asking them to do something entirely new, I don't think what people are asking for is too big of a demand.
I am really excited to see the new maps and other visual additions to the game (new race would be exciting, but I don't see any 'coming soon' on the race selection screen so I am unconvinced whether or not they will add a new race with the next mod)
and legendary upgrade for all mounts and companions!
and new pvp maps!
and legendary gear!
Legendary upgrades are pretty much meaningless, or rather, aren't any better than epic ones - they just differ visually, which, in my opinion, is still a petty reason to add the ~legendary~ status to it.
One of the few things in this game that should be considered legendary but from what I'm aware isn't, is the Icosahedron Ioun Stone.

Currently, there are not epic companions in the game. Presumably, an epic companion would go to 35 since companion ranks actually go by color instead of an unrelated rank like mounts do.

. . . We do have epic pets, they're purple. Common is rank 15, Uncommon is Rank 20, Rare is 25, Epic is 30. Legendary would be 35, I would assume.
Edit: Ahh, I see what you mean, because the auction house called them "Very rare?" Hmm.. curiouser and curiouser. I still believe they're epic. However, official game news never refers to a companion's quality per-say, just their color. My greater reasoning for purple being epic is that if you look at any professions booster pack, epic items are purple. As well, purple mounts are called epic mounts and orange artifacts are called legendary.

They could go another route, if they were to implement "Legendary" companions - like giving them more powers to use, or better active bonuses. Heck, if they simply made them the equivalent of a 2nd tier enemy, (instead of a minion), that'd be a huge improvement.

Silly of Cryptic not to have them in the game by now.
Stealth doesn't need a nerf, it's the skills that allow a perma to stay in stealth forever - that need to be adjusted.
